Régi ismerősünk, Fülig Jimmy ezúttal egy ifjú amerikai milliomos expedíciójának fontos szereplője. Legalábbis erre következtethetünk St. Antonio főhercegnek írott naplószerű levelezéséből. Piszkos Fred is felbukkan ismét, éspedig a Na, mi újság, Wagner úr nevű hajóval.
Jenő Rejtő (born Jenő Reich, pseudonyms: P. Howard, Gibson Lavery) was a Hungarian author, fiction writer, playwright and journalist, who died as a forced labourer during the World War II. He was born in Budapest, Austria-Hungary, on March 29, 1905, and died in Yevdokovo, Soviet Union (then under Axis occupation) on January 1, 1943.
He studied drama before traveling across Europe. When he returned to Hungary he became a successful playwright, responsible for such operettas as "Who Dares Wins" (1934). He then went on to write adventure novels parodying the Foreign Legion, which often featured his somewhat bizarre sense of humor. He reportedly died in 1942 in a labor camp after he was taken from hospital whilst seriously ill. The stamp issued in his honor depicts various images such as a North African sunset (a reference to his Foreign Legion stories), a cafe he frequented and a copy of Nagykorut - the newspaper he edited hanging on the stand.
This book was a little disappointing after the first two. The main characters were not as interesting and the main ones from previous books did not get that much spotlight. Also I really like the style of the author but in this novel it went overboard for me. It was more tiring than funny and it was actually confusing in a bad way a lot of times. However it still had some nice moments and I did not regret that I have read it. I like this world and it was good to see what happened with Fülig Jimmy and Fred.
Remelem a kovetkezo resz jobb lesz
What a disaster! This was the second chance I decided to give this famous Hungarian humorist, with his cast of unusual characters and weird situations. It was more frustrating than entertaining to follow his meandering plot line, so sloppy and confusing as if drawn up by a drunk... and then I suddenly understood: A bottle of rum later, the book virtually read itself. Still, I don't consider it recommendable, though I might give the guy a third chance... sometime later.
:) 3,5 csillag
