"Adam Eason has written the ultimate book on self-hypnosis. An incredible resource for those with knowledge of hypnosis and those just beginning!" Kevin Hogan, Psy.D., Author of Psychology of Persuasion
As well as being an evidence-based hypnotherapist since the late 1990s, principal of a leading hypnotherapy and hypnosis training school and creator of hundreds of hypnosis audio programmes, Adam Eason is a self-confessed hypnosis geek. He writes and broadcasts regularly on the subject through his blogs and podcasts and has lectured around the world on the subject. There are fewer times he is happier that with a research paper, text book or hypnosis study under his nose whilst sipping a strong coffee or a green tea.
His works include one of the bestselling books on self-hypnosis of all time and the highly rated "Hypnosis For Running" where he combines his other love of marathon running with evidence-based hypnosis, mental imagery, cognitive strategies and much more besides.

The info is great, but the author is very verbose. Really good stuff in most of his programs, but a lot of the material could be cut down. Once he gets into the meat of the material, it's an amazing book.
I received a copy of this book after I had completed a 3 day weekend course on self hypnosis, run by Derek Palmer. Derek, based in Christchurch, Dorset, and he is a one time student of Adam Eason, the book's author. Derek runs courses on Eason's techniques and philosophy for self hypnosis.
The course has been fundamental in the way I now live my life, and it has supported me through many changes, and the book has become my guide. Although I initially read it from cover to cover, this after completing the course, I now regularly refer to parts of it for specific inputs on a variety of needs and situations. It is the most read and bookmarked volume of anything I have ever read.
I know this is not for everybody. I entered self hypnotism full of scepticism, and I accept that if nothing else, this might enable a person to make changes, simply by giving them a positive attitude to self belief and self help. There is no magic in this. But I have also offered this text to friends who have found it helpful, and who, as result of reading the book, attended the weekend course. I have since repeated the course myself, and use the learned skills on an almost dally basis.
I would not suggest that simply reading the book will teach you anything. I'm sure it won't, but it may open your mind to wanting to learn more, and attending the same kind of course that I did. Don't expect it to cure you of anything, it won't. Just take a look at it with an open mind about what you might be able to do for yourself, maybe with a bit of self hypnosis to help you along the way.
I was disappointed in this book. I had read a number of great reviews online about it, which is why I bought it. I think the author needs an editor. The steps to hypnosis are explained, but the book is not organized in the most efficient manner. There are pages of anecdotes, which aren't written well enough to be amusing, and the information shared in the anecdotes could have been expressed quicker and more clearly. I decided to write this review specifically because I want others to be warned. I do believe that some of the reviews I had read before buying this book were not genuine (they were done as advertisements, not honest reviews by readers.) The writer might be genuine and I see here on goodreads that he has written 3 other hypnosis books, I just wouldn't recommend this one.
