While Scratch9 delivers the fun of a Saturday morning cartoon, it may only be fresh & novel to those not old enough to remember when cartoons ruled Saturday mornings. The story & concept lacked originality to someone like myself who remembers the old "Fraidy Cat" cartoon. I also picked up some elements that reminded of the Disney movie "Bolt" as well. While this mix might be fine for younger kids, I found it to be a bit lacking and expected more from an Eisner Award nominee.

There was a lot of sly humor in this fun little graphic novel. Plenty of adventure and action that will appeal to kids, but plenty of intelligent humor that will stretch their minds a bit, too. Looking forward to seeing more of all the personalities that are Scratch.
