The Curious Death of Marilyn Monroe is not a book based on fact. It should be shelved in the fiction section. With that out of the way, I'm a Marilyn Monroe fanatic so I will read any book about her. I've wanted to read this book for years, despite the fact that the author Robert Slatzer is a complete fraud. I don't believe one word he writes in this book but since I view this book as fiction I had no problem with that. The Curious Death of Marilyn Monroe is a bizarre & gripping book written by a Marilyn Monroe fanatic who probably met her once & than after her death created a completely fictional relationship with her. I don't need to recommend this book because all us Marilyn fans have heard of this book & want to read it.
I read this book knowing all about Robert Slatzer being a fraud. But being interested in all things Marilyn I decided to read his book just for the sake of it.
So wrong. Such a waste of time. If nothing else, the writing was atrocious. His reminisces of Marilyn are woefully fake. So fake that you wonder if he tried at all. He rewrites Monroe's history for his own sake.
And he tries so hard to convince the readers that Marilyn was murdered. But not just murdered, murdered by the Kennedys in a Communist plot. And he gets away with this rubbish because the truth is Marilyn's death was handled poorly. So poorly that it leads to speculation.
This book just made me sad. Sad for Marilyn Monroe for obvious reasons. But also sad for the author. He's spent so much time and money drowning in his obsession that no one believes.
Robert slatzer never stop fighting for woman he knew and loved this is a fact. A prove. Fact in the assination of marilyn monroe this proven through interviews of her close friends and other means. As was done in anthony summers book whitley Snyder did forward and told of slatzer relationship with marilyn which lasted 13 years several documentaries have proven slatzer claims this book is moveing and factual. The evidence is crystal clear the truth never changes
Books like these really make me wish 0 star ratings were possible
Pack of lies written by a delusional creep who only had ONE interaction with Norma, through pictures and other records we can confirm she was in completely different areas during the dates he gives for her supposedly endless affairs in this book. Many of the people used as alibis in this book have also came forward, admitting Slatzer paid them to make stuff up. Why so many people buy his lies I have no idea, but the significant role this book played in tarnishing Norma's legacy and everything she (and the Kennedies for that matter) accomplished in their short lives is unacceptable. In reality she was a very private, troubled person, disgusting rumors like these would have destroyed her, and to think they were released after her death, denying her the right to defend herself.
