Least favorite Hannon book to date, first real dud. Half the POV was for the bad guy, and he was a nasty customer who hung out with methheads. I have no desire to hang around that much drug use in real life or in fiction.

I was sick and my audiobook wasn't cutting it, so . . . I read this in less than a day. As always, Hannon writes a gripping story. The romance was a little overboard for my personal tastes, and the villain and the torture scenes were on the edge of my "too-creepy" line, but otherwise, I enjoyed this, and was glad to have finally read Mitch's story!

Irene Hannon delivers again! I liked this second book of the Guardians of Justice series even more than the first.

Deadly Pursuit focuses on Alison and Mitch. Alison is a Child Protective Services associate who has made some enemies over the years. Mitch is a cop and former Navy Seal.

It was a well done suspense novel. I look forward to finishing out the series and getting Cole's story.

This booked grabbed my attention from the first few sentences!

Heavy Breathing.
That was all she could hear.
No voice.
No background noise.

Alison has a stalker who is calling her and leaving her gifts. Everything seems like a bad prank until it becomes violent.

When I read the first book in this series, Fatal Judgment (Guardians of Justice, #1) by Irene Hannon , I already liked Alison. Her story intrigued me. The second book is all about her and I loved her even more. She is compassionate, and a strong independent women who had to overcome a lot physically and emotionally after her accident. I loved the way she interacted with her brothers, especially meddling Cole. You are so dead dear brother.

I enjoyed the flirtation between her and Mitch, it was cute without being cheesy and made me smile and sometimes laugh out load.

The plot: even though there was a few twists and turns in the book, the Stalker was revealed early on. I think I enjoy suspense books a little bit more where I have to guess who the baddie is right until the end, but there is also a fascinating factor knowing who the stalker was and reading his thoughts and what he plans. Some of the plans is only revealed at the end which kept me as reader wondering about what will happen next. Some of things the stalker did I guessed before it happened and it was weird and creepy and the way it was executed felt realistic.

There was one small part of the book where I actually felt a bit sorry for the stalker, where some of his childhood pasts were revealed, but soon changed in the way he thinks about life and circumstances.

Irene Hannon is becoming one of my favourite suspense authors. Recommended for anyone who loves suspense and are fans of Dee Henderson, Terri Blackstock, Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey

First posted on my blog, Legacy of a Writer.

I’ve found another author to add to my list of favorite suspense writers! Irene Hannon captured my attention in Fatal Judgment, but sold me hook, line, and sinker with Deadly Pursuit. Wowza! From the first page, I was drawn into this intricate plot and amazing, brave characters. But be forewarned, once you get into this book, it’s extremely hard to put down!

Getting a small introduction to Alison from Fatal Judgment, I was looking forward to reading her story. Her independent streak was pretty thick, but I liked her for it. From the very first scene with Mitch, I knew I’d like his easy, fun-loving nature. The banter back and forth between him and Alison brought a smile to my lips more than once. The brotherly protection she gets from Cole and Jake was also really sweet to see. :-)

The plot behind Deadly Pursuit was really intricate. I really liked how, at first, the anonymous gifts and calls were harmless, but, eventually, her stalker’s hatred deepened until it led up to the grand finale. All the scenes from the stalkers prospective really added a special, unique, touch to this book, in my opinion. It really put the reader inside the killer’s twisted mindset.

Irene Hannon’s writing style is amazing! Instantly, I was hooked on this book. The last half of the book I was unwilling—and unable—to put it down. I would recommend this for older teens and adults for two main reasons. Drugs are used and talked about often in the scenes from the stalkers point of view; what they do, how to take them, etc. Also, Alison’s stalker goes to great lengths to taunt her and make her fear him, going so far as to make her think he is going to rape her. Irene’s gift with words puts the reader right in the scene and I found myself freaked a bit at times.

So, if you’re looking for a good book to get your blood pumping and have you on the edge of your seat, I highly recommend Deadly Pursuit. Fans of Irene Hannon’s new series, Guardians of Justice, are going to be thrilled to dive into yet another awesome adventure with the Taylor siblings.

Very good book. I really liked both Alison and Mitch. Alison is a social worker who is also recovering from bad injuries she received in a car accident and a broken engagement. Alison's dedication to her job and how determined she is to help the women and children she worked with can also make her some enemies. She has two over-protective older brothers who worry that she isn't moving ahead with her life. Cole talks her into helping out his new partner Match by attending a family wedding with him as his date. She hates it when Cole tries to set her up, but goes along with it this time. She ends up glad she did because Mitch turns out to be a really nice guy that she gets along with very well. She is also glad he is there when she gets another creepy gift left on her porch. She feels the potential in their relationship but she is cautious about depending on another man after the way her engagement ended. I really enjoyed seeing the way Mitch had a soothing effect on her fears and how she came to trust him.

Mitch is back in St. Louis to take care of his dad who had bypass surgery. He's trying to avoid the matchmaking attempts by his female relatives when he takes Alison to a family wedding. He isn't looking for a relationship but something about her really gets to him. Before the wedding is over he knows that he wants to see her again. When he finds out about the threats to her his protective instincts kick in also. I really liked Mitch's sweetness with Alison and his understanding of her feelings. I loved the way that he knew quickly that he wanted to keep her in his life but had the patience to move at her speed.

I usually prefer a bit more heat in my romances but Irene Hannon's books are always so good that I don't mind the difference. She does a lovely job of developing the relationship without depending on physical intimacies. There is a lot more time spent on getting to know each other. I really liked the epilogue.

The suspense part of the story was really good. It showed the escalation of the stalking and the buildup of the tensions. Part of the story was told from the stalker's point of view. His motivations and thought processes were definitely disturbing and went a long way toward adding to the intensity of the story. I really liked the way that there were multiple events and characters that all added to the progression of the story. As one thing built on another it got harder and harder for me to put the book down. By the time the end came I was wondering how it was going to happen. I loved the intensity of the finale.

This is the second book in the Guardians Of Justice series, Alison Taylor, is a social worker, who really goes above and beyond to help protect the children of her cases and help the parents get back on their feet. When she starts getting harassing phone calls and creepy “gifts” from a stalker, who antics later take a violent turn. Her brother Detective Cole Taylor, and his new partner at St. Louis P.D., Ex-Navy SEAL Mitch Morgan, steps in to help protect her and find out who the tormenter is. Mitch takes a personal interest in protecting Alison, because of his growing feelings for her and now his future depends on keeping her safe.

This book was such a roller coaster! It will seriously have you look over you shoulder. After reading Fatal Judgment and finding out about Alison story, I was really looking forward to reading this book. Despite the traumatic things that have happened to Alison in her past she still continued to trust God. I really like how Irene Hannon included the other siblings in Alison’s story, you get to see more into the Taylor family. I enjoyed the relationship dynamic between Mitch and Allison, they were a good compliment to each other. The book was definitely a good suspense book, and I’m looking forward to reading more series from this author.

This really is Hannon at her best. The suspense is there from the very first page, but it's the developing romance that held my attention in the beginning. Beautifully developed -- so natural -- loved the teasing conversations, the banter, the inner thoughts not yet divulged. And then..Kaboom!!!!!!! I was shocked. Truly stunned! I'd seen the foreshadowing but I didn't think she'd actually do it!!!!! Noooooooooooo - I whimpered as I rabidly turned pages. But even in the midst of the angst the hero shone brighter than any knight in shining armor and I was smitten with Hannon again, though I now think it's more of a love/hate author/reader relationship!.

Want to know what I'm going on about? Well, you'll just have to read Deadly Pursuit to find out.

I have mixed feelings about this book. While I love the characters, I found the level of hatred by the stalker toward the main character a little hard to swallow. I also didn’t like that so much of the book was from his POV. Sometimes there were too many details. There were also a few spots in the book that seemed rather pointless and boring.

However, I loved the chemistry between the two main characters and the love of family. My heart went out to what Mitch does for her following a loss she endures. That right there is a man to keep. It reminded me of my husband (then boyfriend) and how he was there for me following a loss in my family.

I appreciate Irene Hannon’s books because they don’t have sex scenes, bad language and while they are Christian novels, they are not preachy. This book was so riveting I had to read later into the evening to finish despite chores needing to be done. The characters and situations are very real. Anyone who likes suspense will like this book, and the series.

This was not my favorite Irene Hannon book. A bit too much plotting to harm, even torture someone, then too much description of how a murder attempt was carried out. Graphic explanation of a dog killing.
It kept me wanting to see what was going to happen, but I'm actually sorry I did.

This I can see why some may not have liked this one, but honestly, I personally loved it and fell in love with Mitch Morgan a little too quickly. And to think I loved Allison's brother in the first book (Jake Taylor). This one was very interesting and yet hard to put down. Even though it took me a bit longer than expected but you know, that's what you get when you start a book or few during the month of December or some time after Thanksgiving, the holidays are too insanely crazy.

Anyway, like every other genre I've read and/or liked, I'm of course picky to what the book is about, but I'm glad I've some pretty good luck with a genre I didn't think I'd ever get into. Irene Hannon does an amazing job with these stories so far and I can't wait until I'm able to start Cole Taylor's story the coming new year. And to also be able to finish this one in almost an hour in a half before midnight and the end of this crazy and insane year we called 2020.

Irene Hannon is an excellent author, and I usually enjoy her books thoroughly, but this one gave me some reservations. She wrote a tense, absorbing book, but for a Christian author she went a little too far with the violence and drug culture , in my opinion. . Although the scenes were realistic, it was too graphic in its authenticity for my taste. No dog lover will be able to forget one scene in the book, and it isn’t one you want to remember. The ending is nice, but just be aware there are rough times before you get there.

Overall good book, only giving it 3 stars for animal abuse and more gory details with it than I care to read personally. That alone made me dislike the book and I couldn’t get that bad taste out of my mouth. Plus the reminder of it happening throughout the rest of the book made it difficult.

Excellent book. Second time I've read it and it still keeps me in suspense and makes my heart pound! Not enough to cause nightmares but enough to keep me turning the pages. Excellent mix of romance and thriller, love and intrigue. A must read!!! Great Christian author. Great St. Louis tie-ins!

I've read 4 books by Irene Hannon (5 counting 'Deadly Pursuit') and I've enjoyed each one! Before I even started 'Deadly Pursuit', I fully expected to love it and I did!

I love how Irene writes suspense novels that keep me at the "edge-of-my-seat" without gratuitous violence or vulgar language. How she weaves romance in the story that doesn't involve explicit love scenes or things similar in nature.

'Deadly Pursuit' may be my favorite book so far that I've read by Irene. It is filled with interesting characters, a thrilling plot, and of course a love story.

We first met Alison Taylor in 'Fatal Judgment' and I've liked her character ever since. In 'Deadly Pursuit', though, we meet ex-Navy SEAL Mitch Morgan. I found myself really liking his character. He seems like a nice guy with a compassionate heart. One thing he did that I found nice is he moved back home to care for his father who just had bypass surgery.

Alison has so much heartache and sadness. She was in a horrible car accident that left her in critical condition and now years later she is mostly healed - except she can never have children because she had to have a hysterectomy. Someone is stalking her and leaving morbid gifts - dead flowers with a bingo card that has one number checked off.

Then something very cruel happens - I'm not going to say what because that will wreck an aspect of the story - and the perpetrator leaves another bingo card, this time with two numbers checked off. As you can guess, the story continues with the stalker getting closer to bingo. But what will happen to Alison when he finally reaches bingo? How far is he willing to go?

I loved this story - it was very thrilling and suspenseful. I think anyone who enjoys reading suspenseful stories will enjoy 'Deadly Pursuit'. And even though the culprits identity was known throughout, there was still alot of mystery as to what he would do next.

I loved how we still got to see Alison's brothers and how their stories progressed since 'Fatal Judgment'. I would have liked to have seen Mark Sanders again, but sadly he wasn't in 'Deadly Pursuit'- maybe he'll be in Irene Hannon's next book (I'm hoping).

I definitely recommend 'Deadly Pursuit' and I look forward to Irene Hannon's next Romantic Suspense novel.

I am a big fan of Irene Hannon’s work and I am not going to try to hide it; no, instead I am just going to gush a bit here. On Friday, Sept.9th, I am fortunate to interview her again on my blogtalk show The G-ZONE . I am really looking forward to it. I will put the link below right before the synopsis of the novel. I have a ton of questions for her but if you have any, just email or message me and I will be happy to add them to the list. Better yet, why not call in and ask yourself?
“Deadly Pursuit” is a firecracker of a novel. The action starts early and does not let up. I love action; I guess you have gotten that by now, but the key ingredient in the mix here, and a hallmark of Irene Hannon’s work, I believe, is the intense character development. I really enjoy that facet of her work. She drew me in early and quickly to the new characters she created and made me care for them almost instantly. It made my enjoyment of the novel all that much better. The rest for me was icing on the cake.
Here is the link for my blogtalk show The G-ZONE:

Here is the synopsis of the novel:

When her tormentor's attentions take a violent turn, her brother Cole comes to her aid, along with his new partner, Detective Mitch Morgan. SUMMARY: A stalker with deadly intent . . .
A woman who protects children . . .
An ex-Navy SEAL turned police detective.

Social worker Alison Taylor has a passion for protecting children. But now it seems she needs protecting. When her tormentor's attentions take a violent turn, she calls in reinforcements--her police-detective brother, Cole, and his new partner, ex-Navy SEAL Mitch Morgan. As her relentless stalker turns up the heat and the danger intensifies, Mitch takes a personal interest in the case. Because protecting Alison has become more than a job; his future depends on keeping her safe.

Filled with nail-biting suspense and heart-melting romance, Deadly Pursuit is Irene Hannon's storytelling at its very best.

REVIEW: Once again Irene Hannon kept me up late at night with her page-turning, suspense novels. Her writing captures you at page one, pulls you in, and keeps your attention til the last sentence. I have enjoyed learning more about the Taylor siblings with each additional novel. This one features Alison who besides being a fighter for justice is a faith-filled, courageous young woman with a passion for children.

This book has it all romance, suspense, and faith. A wide variety of characters from one who is filled with evil to one who is learning to re-trust God and view life with gratitude to two young women who have fallen and are trying to get back on the right road through faith and the help of others.

I did feel Hannon's description of the brutalization of Alison's dog as well as some of the descriptions during her capture were a bit too graphic and could have been minimized somewhat. But still a really great suspense novel and I look forward to the next book in this series, Lethal Legacy.

From page one to the last of Deadly Pursuit, author Irene Hannon has you riveted with mysterious and dangerous circumstances that we find social worker, Alison Taylor, caught up in. But when one of the perpetrators ups the ante with each taunting, her police-department brother, Cole, and his new partner, Mitch Morgan, are called in for her protection. Though Alison thinks both brothers, Cole and Jake, are overbearing, she and Mitch test the waters of their new relationship slowly, cautiously and deliciously. However, their relationship turns professional when threats are made.

Irene Hannon is one of my favorite mystery writers, as she is distinctive and comprehensive in her character development, unwavering and surprising in her intensity of suspense, and a master of tender romance. All three areas complement each other into an ever-engaging read. Deadly Pursuit is a true example of her fine work.

The characters and situations are genuine and persuasive. I found the bantering between the siblings and partners a method Irene used to diffuse some of the tension of the danger. It’s a book you will find realistic and, at times, upsetting, as it can and does happen somewhere in today’s society. But the reality of prayer, faith and trust in God also permeates the book and is very genuine and important.

For a great, thrilling read, check Deadly Pursuit out for yourself! You can buy it here or here.

I first became acquainted with Irene Hannon’s writing with her last book, Fatal Judgement. I recall thinking the story was very good and well written, but I had a hard time enjoying the it because there were a lot of similarities between the book and the shooting that happened in Tucson at the time I was reading it. So, when the chance to read Irene’s new book, Deadly Pursuit, came along, I eagerly jumped at the chance. I wanted to be able to have many positive things to say about the book and I wanted to let nothing get in the way of enjoying this story.

I got my wish. And now I can talk about all the wonderful things I loved about Deadly Pursuit. First of all, Irene’s ability to combine suspense with romance without feeling like anything is being forced or unnatural is a rare talent. I really don’t need to have romance when I am reading a suspense novel, but as long as it is well done, it can only enhance the story and that it was it did here. It felt natural and real.

One thing I really love to see in suspense novels is what I like to call the creep out factor. I love it when an author uses his or her imagination to really creep out the read. Irene certainly has proven that she is very skilled at doing that because this book was successful in the creep out factor.

So, it gives me great pleasure to 100% sing the praises of Deadly Pursuit. I loved this book. It starts off fast and keeps up with a good momentum that just builds and builds. I highly recommend this story whether or not you are a fan of suspense. I am so glad to have enjoyed this book so much and now I can hardly wait to read the next book in this series.

I remember that I really enjoyed reading Fatal Judgment: A Novel, the first book in the Guardians of Justice Series and was looking forward to this one. Overall this plot was a bit macabre for my taste, just too much. I was nervous and uncomfortable and completely creeped out. Yet I hear that a creep out factor is a good thing in suspense. Anyway, I wanted to stop, but I had to keep going to know what would happen in the end. It is interesting to me how I can watch television shows with similar situations, but reading them in a book going at the pace that I can find the time to dive in the logos is another matter.

Irene Hannon is masterful with a pen and writes a good and catching story. I was captivated from the very beginning. I love characters and I despised the ones that were meant to be despised, but at the same time (thanks to Mary Connealy) I also often find myself looking for redemption in the evil characters. While not my favorite genre, Irene definitely kept the pages turning and I will look for more from her in the future.

Another top notch novel from Irene Hannon! DEADLY PURSUIT, the second installment of the Guardians of Justice series was a great read, captivating me from the very start.

Alison Taylor pursues justice like her brothers, just without a badge. As a Social worker, Alison does her best to fight for women who’ve had a bad run of luck. She does everything she can to help these women get their children back and out of the social system. A noble cause. But someone doesn’t agree. Daryl Barnes, the ex-boyfriend of one of Alison’s clients, blames her for sending him to prison and ruining his life. Now it’s time for him to get even.

Mitch Morgan, ex-Navy SEAL, ex-SWAT team member, is now a St. Louis Police Detective, living in his hometown, caring for his ailing father. When he is set up on a mercy date with Cole Taylor’s sister, Alison, the date becomes much more than a mercy mission when he is smitten with the strong and beautiful woman. When she becomes the target of what appears to be a dangerous prank, he takes a personal interest. Not just because she is Cole Taylor’s sister, but because he knows she is the woman he wants in his future.

Irene Hannon does a great job of balancing romance and suspense. Her characters are genuine and people you are immediately drawn to. She weaves a great tale, and the relationship between Alison and her brothers is warm and sweet. Another great book from Hannon. Can’t wait for the next book in the series to release.

"Deadly Pursuit" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the second in the series, but you don't need to read the first book to understand this one, and the first book didn't spoiled in this one.

The characters were interesting and acted realistically to the situations they were in. (Side note: I've only met one man in real life that had dimples, yet it seems like 95% of current romantic heroes have them!) The details about the setting and jobs brought the story alive in my imagination without slowing down the story's fast pacing. The suspense was created by physical danger--mainly for the heroine. All of this was combined well to make a story that I had a hard time putting down.

There were some references to prayer and going to church, but no one preached at each other or asked searching questions. The Christian element seemed to flow naturally as a part of the story but did not seem to be a large part of the story.

There was a very minor amount of "he cursed" style of bad language. There were no graphically described sex scenes. There was a high level of cruel violence toward animal and human, but it was not graphically described. Overall, I'd recommend this suspenseful novel.
