This unique and useful book helps parents or any caregiver entertain children during a crucial period in their development, and not feel worn out in the process. Geared to the rhythms of family life, these simple activities require a minimum of energy and equipment and can be carried out over the course of an ordinary day or for a special event. Many incorporate ordinary household chores. The activities in Baby Days are conveniently organized by age as well as time of day.
I actually didn't finish this book, but I did buy it! (I had borrowed it from the library originally.) It just a great thing to be able to pull out on those days/mornings/afternoons/whatever when I feel like I need a little variety! There are a lot of great ideas, and some creative ways to do every day things. It's super cheap online if you don't mind used books.
I found maybe a dozen ideas to share with my children who are now in the baby-raising trenches. The thing is, since this was published in 2000 blogs and pinterest have emerged and do what this book does much better. I mean, all the illustrations here are line drawings and the format is ho-hum. Pass.
Great reference book! I borrowed this from the library but I feel like it’s worth a purchase. My son is currently 3 months old so I didn’t need all the ideas right this minute, but it will be helpful a few more months/years from now.
I haven't yet finished this book, but I already think I want to add it to my collection. I must admit, my expectations were rather low, but I like that she makes up games using things you might have lying around and I really like that she talks about how you can get things done around the house without excluding your child. I also like that when there is an activity that can be potentially super messy, she gives an alternative that would be less messy. For example, have you ever thought to "paint" with water on construction paper? A much cleaner/safer activity when your little one is still to little to not dump paint on the ground or try to eat it.
The activities are creative, look fun, and don't seem to involve purchasing too many extra things in addition to what you probably already have around your house. I appreciate how the book is organized and especially liked how the author made suggestions on how to adapt the activity for different ages. I think the activities will be particularly fun for 1-3 year olds, but many could be incorporated for younger age children depending on their interests.
Okay book. Some cute activities but I think you can find just as clever and fun ideas on the internet, so I'm not sure that it's worth purchasing this book. Not bad for a library check out though.
I loved this book when my kids were younger and now give it as a baby shower gift. Full of ideas for fun, free activities to implement while engaging your daily routine - very helpful.
