Laura Rankin Swan Harbor: A Nature Counting Book I can't remember the last time I had so much fun counting to twenty! Parents, Teachers and Pre-schoolers will love traveling around Swan Harbor from one robin in the Spring through to twenty swans in Winter, but don't hurry through because there is so much to see and enjoy along this "nature trail"! You will want to enjoy this "hike" over and over! I borrowed my copy from the library to read with my two grandchildren, ages 2 and five, and now I am loathe to part with it! It will be on my list to add to my personal library shelves! A pure delight!
What a romantic, beautiful sequence of lush illustrations, then numbers. Nature lovers, especially, may love this book.
What will kids learn? They'll learn how to count from 1 to 20.
Mainly, they'll see lots of animals, animals that are bright and beautiful and easy to count. (And to me, the seashells on the Count-to-12 page... look very much like animals too.)
Simple and serene, this lovely book can coax young counters to know that, "Numbers are your friends."
To be clear, the author is not saying that. Your friendly Goodreads reviewer is saying that as, smilingly, she rates this book at FIVE STARS.
What beautiful illustrations! A perfect counting book for animal lover or anyone who loves the rocky coast of Maine. Lovely pictures of seals, starfish and swans in gently falling snow.
The art was beautiful....I especially liked the last picture with the full landscape in different seasons. It was incredibly beautiful. And it had some cool animals facts in the back too :) Nice little counting book, I'm just more into story lines :)
