About the author

Mark Wilson (D.Litt. et Phil., South Africa) is the founder and director of the Asia Minor Research Center in Antalya, Turkey, a country in which he and his wife Dindy have lived since 2004. He serves as Visiting Professor of Early Christianity at Regent University, Associate Professor Extraordinary of New Testament at Stellenbosch University, and Research Fellow in Biblical Archaeology at the University of South Africa. He is the English editor of the Turkish archaeological journals Adalya and Anmed. He also blogs for the online Bible History Daily. He is the author and editor of numerous books, articles, and reviews including a commentary on Revelation (Zondervan), Charts of the Book of Revelation (Kregel), The Victor Sayings in the Book of Revelation (Wipf & Stock), and Biblical Turkey: A Guide to the Jewish and Christian Sites of Asia Minor (Ege Yayıları). Wilson is a member of twelve academic societies, including the Society of Biblical Literature, the Evangelical Theological Association, the Institute of Biblical Research, and the New Testament Society of South Africa. His particular research interests are the ancient Jewish communities, Roman roads, and biblical history in Turkey. He has been married to Dindy for forty years. They have four adult children, four granddaughters, and four grandsons.

Must-have for anyone studying or visiting Turkey in the New Testament context. Mark Wilson has done his research and knows exactly what he's talking about. This book has historical information, site descriptions, and modern tourism details.

I took a recent trip to Greece and Turkey. I read a similar book on the biblical sites in these countries that gave some good insight. Upon return, I picked up Wilson's book to do some further study on what I had just experienced. Biblical Turkey is an excellent resource for a deeper understanding of the setting for many of the books in the New Testament. Wilson adds a number of in-site features to further illuminate New Testament writings from an understanding of the land, culture, and customs of the time. There are also maps, guides to each site, and suggested side trips nearby. I wish I had this book on my trip. It is a great resource!

Very thorough is an understatement. If you plan on taking any sort of Biblical pilgrimage to Turkey, buy this book. It covers Ararat to 1st c. martyrs, literally leaving no stone unturned. The only question you'll be left with is which part of Turkey to visit first. I think I'll take the Hittites, but the Seven Cities is awfully tempting, too.

Fantastic resource before and during a tour in Turkey. Fabulous souvenir when you get home. Good photos, thorough coverage and good historic/literary connections. Worth the price.
