Kate did it again! Accused was thrilling and I never wanted to put it down. If you haven't read this series yet, you are seriously missing out, and I'm telling you--this is the good stuff, and you are missing one of the best series ever.
I'm already attached to Maddie, but I felt so much for her in this book. As if she hasn't gone through enough, she's taken on another rollercoaster ride, and Kate thinks up whole new ways to torture her. ;)
The details are amazing, and I feel like I'm right there with her dealing with everything she's going through even though some of it is not so pleasant.
Trevor is as awesome as ever in this book, and there are some really intense scenes between him and Maddie, and although I can't really say much more than that, just prepare yourself! There were a few scenes that he absolutely surprised me, and I never really saw it coming, and now I can't wait to find out how it resolves, but alas, I'm left waiting and anxiously tapping my foot for more.
Kate wrote some amazingly funny scenes in this one, and had me rolling and my husband giving me that look like he's trying to decide if I need to be committed...
So, if you can't tell, I def recommend this one.

I am a fan of Kate Kaynak’s Ganzfield series, I loved Minder and Adversary, but the 3rd book Legacy left me disappointed. I expected more, I expected that thrill and elation the first 2 books made me feel and Legacy left me lukewarm. So I started Accused, the 4th book in the series with a bit of trepidation: I wanted it to be just as awesome as the first two books were but feared to be left down. Thankfully my fears were for naught, because Kate Kaynak is back and Accused was just as mindblowingly fantastic as Minder!

Accused picks up where Legacy left off: before dying Isaiah sent in an e-mail a link to some video footage incriminating the Ganzfield folks and displaying their unique abilities to the media and other high placed military contacts. Maddie and co. were able to intercept almost all of the e-mails except two which went out to some unidentifiable top dog military leaders.

Kate Kaynak floored me with the pace she kept all through the novel: Accused starts pretty much with a bang and from then on she never lets up the pressure, the tension is always there, drumming in the background.

I loved that despite the almost constant fast paced and nail-biting action, equal stress was put on the emotional development of Maddie and Trevor, both as individual characters and as a couple. I loved this side of Minder and was sad to miss it in later books, but in Accused Kate Kaynak brings us so many life changing moments and events that one can only blink and curiously await how it will change the characters and their relationships. Accused was an emotionally incredibly intense story: from Maddie’s fear in imprisonment, her efforts to surmount the torture she had to suffer, to Trevor’s way of dealing with what happened to Maddie, they were all written so realisticly, that reading about their struggles and suffering was a very intense and raw experience. (I’m saying this in the best possible way! Kate Kaynak made me sweat, swear, tear up and feel for her characters.) Of course don’t fear there are just as many wonderfully sweet and tender, touching scenes!

But I absolutely must state that besides the very emotional and at times dark scenes the novel is full of humour. The characters’ thoughts and dialogues will make you chuckle and lighten up the story:

“Hey, it’s Treddie!” Drew jumped up from a table of sparks.
Ugh. I smiled at him, glad to be able to focus on his exuberant thoughts. Treddie? That sounds like a repulsively cute kid’s toy. If you must, go with “Madvor”. At least that sounds like something that would’ve fought Godzilla.

Another aspect for which I have to applaud Kate Kaynak is the way she approached and wrote about sex, intimacy, teen pregnancy, STDs, etc. in a YA novel. She didn’t shy away from talking/writing about sex but did it in a responsible and realistic way.

And to conclude here is a line from one of the characters, which I think perfectly sums up everything that happens in Accused:

(Seth:) "It’s like a damn soap opera around here these days. Everyone’s falling in love or dropping into comas or getting arrested for murder. Blech! All we need is an evil twin or something."

Verdict: Accused was perfection regarding its composition: it had action, the mystery plot was exciting, enough time and space was spent on the characters and their emotional struggles and growth, it had humour, it had romance and once again Kate Kaynak left me wanting more! I can’t wait to read Operative, and after what a terrific read Accused was I’m looking forward to Book #5 in the Ganzfield series with much impatience and excitement!

I give Accused 4.5 stars!

WHEW! We're finally close enough to release day that I can talk about this book! I met Kate Kaynak at BEA and she was awesome enough to send me home with an ARC of Accused. I went back to the rental house that night and read it. Seriously. I just had to know what happened next with Maddy and Trevor. It was an insane ride and the end had me going back to Kate the next morning to let her know how much I hated the ending and her for writing it. (Seriously, I love Kate to bits. She is awesome but that cliffhanger ending KILLED ME!!)

Now, before I get ahead of myself, let's start at the beginning. Trevor and Maddy are trying to board a plane to Aruba when the Feds detain them. That is NEVER a good way to start your vacation. Maddy is taken in for "questioning" with Trevor but Maddy works out a way for Trevor to go for help. Trevor, of course, doesn't want to leave her there alone but Maddy insists that they need help. The next bit covers her "interrogation" by Hunter, a government man who is sick and twisted. He treats Maddy abominably while she is being kept locked up. When she is finally released, she's malnourished and has been mentally abused. Trevor can't stand to see her so mistreated. As Maddy is nursed back to health at Ganzfield, Ann approaches her about learning how to kill with her mind like Maddy can. Can sweet Ann REALLY learn that nasty trick that Maddy almost wishes that she didn't know? Will the government leave Ganzfield in peace or in pieces? What about Rachel's baby?

I loved this book- right up until the end, of course. I'm all about Trevor and while he wasn't in the part of the book where Maddy is held captive, he is still sweet, loving, and just... Trevor in this book. My husband actually likes Trevor after reading this one. So, it must be good, right?! I also liked that we got to see more of Seth not completely acting like a jerk in this one. Who knew Seth was so darn interesting?! I'd LOVE to see more Seth. (I already put in my order for MORE SETH with Kate.) We also see more from the other kids at Ganzfield. Ann, Zack, Rachel, Rachel's Super Baby, Drew and Harrison.... we get a lot of good scenes with all of them. I like Drew better every time he comes up in the books. Harrison, well, he gives Rachel some spot on baby naming advice. Ann is not so sweet and timid now that she's with Zack. She can be a pretty tough chick! But by far, Seth was the most unexpected part of the book. Now, before I slip up and accidentally get all spoilery (or more spoilery) I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Accused. I won't tell you who says it, when or why. Hope it leaves you chomping at the bit for Accused!

Kate Kaynak is a genius. I'm really not sure what I can say beyond that, she just is. When it comes to YA works (or any written work, for that matter) the author either has the ability to capture the attention of the reader, or they don't. Kaynak has it IN SPADES. I could not put down this book.

Accused takes us back to Ganzfield where all the students have "extra" abilities (at the beginning of the book, Kaynak gives a nice little synopsis of these abilities and an overview of what has happened in previous books). The situations Maddie faces in Accused are heart-wrenching... heart-stopping. While reading this book, there were times I was grabbing a tissue even as I wished I could jump in the pages with my own Ganzfield-worthy ability and take out all of Maddie and Trevor's foes. Oh, why can't I be a G-positive? This is one of those series that you read and wish you could just live there- you want it to be your world somehow. But, alas, the real world all to quickly intrudes as you close the book after the last page. I know one thing, when the series is complete, I will be returning to it again and again to reread and re-enter the world of Ganzfield!

For anyone who has not read the Ganzfield series yet, what on earth are you waiting for? I know you will find it just as fascinating as I have. And I can't wait for the next book, Operative!

This is the fourth book in the Ganzfield series, so if you haven't read the first three you should stop and go read them now. I don't know where to begin, I was hooked from the beginning as government agents took Maddie into custody. Maddie faces alot of challenges in this book and you can feel her emotions vividly through the words. We also get to see other favorite characters such as Trevor (of course), Rachel, Drew, Seth, etc. There are many surprising turn of events throughout the novel that I just couldn't put it down. The romance between Trevor and Maddie is as amazing as ever (I want my own Trevor) but their relationship is put the test. A new adversary is introduced that poses a threat to everyone in Ganzfield. The cliffhanger will leave you gasping and make you wonder about Maddie's future. I have no idea how I'm going to wait till the next book. This is the best book in the series so far. Make sure you don't have anything important to do because you will not be able to put it down.

WOW. Each Ganzfield book is great, and I'm not sure how Kate Kaynak does it, but she manages to make each book better than the next. I couldn't put this book down. I'm a full-time orthodontist and periodontist, father of four and still managed to finish this book in 3 days. I'll do my best to not give any spoilers! In this edition Maddie and Trevor's relationship gets more intense an serious on all levels. Maddie finds herself in a very bad situation that affect her and all G-postitives. Ingenious and creative plot, loved this book.

This is part of a series where I really enjoyed the first book, but the second and third books really didn't appeal to me the same way, and I didn't plan to keep reading the series.

Problem is, it's a series where you just can't stay away for long, because you want to know what happens next. So I went ahead and picked up Accused.

I finished reading it in a couple days over the 4th of July weekend. I did enjoy the plot-- it was nice to see the consequences of the previous book coming into play. I've marked my thoughts with spoilers because they're... well... spoilers.

Read at your own risk:

Things I enjoyed:

Pet Peeves:

Overall, though, I enjoyed reading the book, and I'll probably pick up the next one to see what happens. I'm not too much into romance, but I enjoy the series for how the powers are portrayed and for the characters.

Accused, being the fourth book in the Ganzfield series, is definitely the most emotional. There were moments of great sadness, awwww moments, and moments of joy, frustration and anger. Yep, Accused was definitely an emotional minefield. The beginning of the book had me going from happy to scared to sick to hopeful so fast. Needless to say, with Accused Kate Kaynak had my emotions flaring and I loved every minute of it.
From the absolute beginning of the book I was hooked. There was so much going on and I just really wanted things to turn out for the best. There were so many events in Accused, none of them I want to mention because they would definitely be spoilers, but they were all really awesome in their own ways an each event just adds a little bit to the book and makes it that much more great.
With every book I read in the series I’m getting more and more scared to continue reading, mostly because I’m scared that something big is going to happen and that one of my favourite characters is going to get hurt or killed, or someone is going to break up with someone. Yet I know I will continue to read the series to the very end because I absolutely must know what happens next. I just have to know.
When I started the Ganzfield series I wasn’t a fan of Trevor but now after four books, I am really starting to find he’s growing on me. I mean he still does things that annoy me from time to time but I wouldn’t want him any other way, because he’s Trevor and he is a pretty cool guy.
Things have definitely taken an interesting turn in Accused. I’m not so sure what to make of it to be honest. However, I know that I am definitely intrigued and Kate has piqued my interest as to what is going to happen in the next book and in fact, the rest of the series. I’m really hoping that certain things work themselves out.
Overall, I absolutely loved Accused and I am so annoyed that I have to wait for ages to read the next book. The Ganzfield series is just a truly amazing series and I am constantly blown away by the depth and creativity that Kate Kaynak adds in each book. Definitely worth a read!

Ganzfield Series Book 4
Shortly after using my secret remote ability on Kate Kaynak, I was thrilled to receive an ARC of Ganzfield Series book 4 Accused .What a fabulous way to spend the 4th - fireworks before the fireworks! Accused is incredibly intense, mind-boggling, romance filled and action-packed. Kate Kaynak left no small detail without a unique connection. Abilities abounded, relationships deepened and Rachel and her baby made me want to don a tinfoil suit and become her honorary auntie!

It's extremely challenging to discuss anything from Accused without spoiling it, but here goes. Just looking at the cover lets you in on Maddie's imprisonment. Colonel Hunter is one sick, evil officer-gone-rogue keeping her in a secret facility. His intentions are to "break" and control Maddie and his efforts make you want to pour all you inner strength into her so she can survive and be reunited with Trevor and everyone at Ganzfield. My heart broke for Maddie!

Ah, but the rest of the book is loaded with fascinating mixtures of abilities and combinations of characters that will keep you glued to Accused.I don't want to spoil the story, but I'll let you in on one secret I think I figured out: Kate Kaynak unknowingly reveals her true identity as an actual member of Ganzfield living her life as an author in a remote location. She uses her reverse RV ability - causing you to seek her book out, minder-projects a vivid, action packed, romantic, thrilling and touching dream into your mind and then charms you into believing you simply read a fabulous novel in your own living room. She's a sneaky one, that Kate!

The only thing I really, really hated was the four words on page 251 "End of book four"!

If you are reading this review and have no idea what I am talking about, then you MUST, MUST read Minder - you will have the advantage of jumping right to books 2-4 after that this summer. You can find these books for sale at Amazon and Accused is expected to be released August 15th
I give Accused 5 firecrackin' stars!

It contains SPOLIERS, so if you don't want to know, don't read it.
Ok, now I can really say I have a favourite book. And that book is Accused. In all the reviews I made I said that every book was better than the previous one, and once again my statement is true. This book was passionate, exciting, emotional and scary (a bit). I keep feeling so much for Maddie as she's the one who's been tortured, damaged, broken. Take one for the team, Maddie. I hate this sentence so much, as I feel no one really cares for her (except Trevor, of course!). She lost her capability to speak but who cares! She'd been tortured but who cares! Take one for the team. I think she's taken enough in my opinion.
I have so many things to say about this book! Rachel... I like her so much. And she has a little superbaby girl! I really loved the way Maddie described how and what Sienna was feeling (by the way, cool method to choose a baby name). Seth. I don't really have an opinion about him but I love the "brotherly" relationship he has with Maddie. He can act all tough & grumpy but deep down he really cares for her.
And now the main event. OMG THEY DID IT!!! They finally did. Too bad they were drugged, haha. I don't have much else to say besides that because it wasn't totally described. But I have found very funny that she was waiting for him to wake up, with all her post-its already prepared. Oh yeah, dumb me *hits head*. They also got married (although I have a suspicion it's not entirely legal). Their dream wedding was very romantic, I really liked it.
I read the teaser for Operative and I really can't wait to read the whole book!!
Last, I would like to say a MASSIVE thanks to Kate Kaynak and Spencer Hill Press for giving me this great opportunity and letting me review my very first ARC. And for introducing me to the world of Maddie Dunn.
You guys are amazing!!!

Reading the Ganzfield series, is a bit like being in a mentally abusive relationship with someone you can't help but love anyway. And Kate, I do love you, but I'm so emotionally drained after reading these books and I love every freaking minute of it! And each one just keeps getting better and better. With Ms. Kaynak the grand puppet master of it all sitting high on her lofty perch. I swear I have a bit of minder in me because I can hear her now:

"Aww. Cute little readers. All snug and feeling safe and secure. You like that new character I brought in do ya? WELL THINK AGAIN!!" *Character X drops dead* *Evil cackles ensue*

Yeah she really gets you in the feels department. Which has me freaking out because a character Seth who I've always liked pretty well when he's popped up in the past, has now worked his way into my heart and I adore him. So much. And there are still three books left. If he doesn't make it through to the end...*sigh* I don't know what I'll do...Hmmm. Can you unread books? Because I'll take it all back I swear I will!

The best thing about Accused, though, is that it is the funniest of the series so far. Man can this woman write humorous scenes. I was bursting out laughing. Literally in tears, no joke, at points. You need to read these books just to get to this one for the scenes where Maddie and Trevor get darted alone. That's all I'm saying. I know it doesn't make sense now. You can come back later and thank me.

And thank goodness I have Operative sitting right here ready to go next. The way this one ended. Ugh. The feels. Now I need to go recover and get a good nights sleep so I can start the abuse all over again tomorrow with the next book. YOU need to go add these books to your piles! All of them!

I wasn't even charmed into giving that 5/5 either ;)

You would not believe how high I jumped when I found a copy of Accused in my mailbox! Ever since I read Minder, I have been absolutely in love with this series, and nearly every time, I always wrote that I wished there had been more action...well, this time, Kate Kaynak did not disappoint.

(If you want to read my other reviews first: Minder, Adversary, Legacy)

From the very first chapter, this book is non-stop action and suspense. Our heroine, Maddie, gets detained by a government agent who holds no care for rules or regulations. He essentially tortures Maddie (in ways that you'll have to read to find out). Needless to say, some of the things he does is horrific, but not to a point that I feel like the book will be too much for its Y.A. audience.

I still adore Maddie and Trevor together. You know, you'd think that by this, the 4th book, I'd have had enough of the lovely dovey stuff, but I think it is incredibly sweet and romantic! There is just something laid-back and so real about the two characters that actually makes you want to be there with them. The protectiveness they have over each other is endearing, and they're finally learned to trust that the other person isn't going to leave. It's almost like you're watching them grow up and mature as the books go on.

Accused is probably my favorite book in the series so far. It's definitely a little more adult than the others, but it works so well. Every character is loveable (or hateable, lol) and I found myself breezing through this book in no time - and being sad that it had to end. I can't wait to read the next book in the series: Operative.

Kate Kaynak, please keep 'em coming!!

5 out of 5 stars

The Ganzfield series is an addicting, fast-paced, sexy, and hilarious YA series that I can’t get enough of. Accused is the fourth book in the series and it’s just as entertaining as the last three. This one focuses a lot more on relationships and less on a big bad guy – though there’s still a bad guy, it’s not so much a he, as it is a them (and a she).

As the title alludes, Accused starts with Maddie in the midst of some legal drama. As the story progresses, there are the occasional minder gatherings, fire-starting sparks, and good ol’ Trevor being as romantic as ever. Accused is much more character-driven than the previous installments, but this allows for a great deal of character growth.

Maddie and Trevor grow individually, and as a couple. Their relationship strengthens even more – didn’t think that was even possible – as they go through hell together. The secondary characters aren’t around as much as they usually are, but we get to see a very pregnant Rachel and get glimpses of the next generation of G-positives through her very talented, yet-to-be-born baby. Seth is around a bit more and I loved it. His big brother relationship with Maddie is cute and protective, and his dry humor lightens the mood.

Accused is another wonderful installment in a perfectly executed series. Kate Kaynak has delivered yet another fresh tale with endearing and entertaining characters, a storyline that continues to thicken, and a romance that has found a way to sizzle without fail. Accused has whet my appetite for even more G-positive adventures and I’m wicked excited to see exactly where Maddie will go next and what will happen in her future.

Before I sit down to read the newest book in the Ganzfield series, I always get butterflies in my stomach. So much anticipation! I keep expecting (not that I want this to happen) for Kaynac to have an off book, because it’s so hard to keep a long series going without having one. But she never fails to amaze me. With each new book, there’s even more action, tension, and passion. She always finds a way to bring something new to the series and keep me guessing.

Maddie has just been through SO much! I honestly didn’t think she could survive much more. I thought surely Kaynac would give her some down time. But nope. Maddie is tested harder than ever in this new installment. And even though Trevor wasn’t physically beside her for a while; he was still with her, making her strong. Their relationship is taken to new levels, and as they get closer, other things are pulling them further apart. It was painful at times, sweet and passion-filled at others, and through it all, I just kept rooting for them.

Ann surprised me. She was getting stronger in the last book, but she really takes it up a notch in this one. And Seth, I really enjoyed him. I have to say he was one of my favorite parts of this story. I hope to get more of him in the next book. And of course there’s Zack. My bad boy hottie. He was awesome. Though the ending left me with a twisting knot in my gut, I’m still loving him, and can’t wait to find out what happens next. If you have not started this series yet, I don’t know what you’re waiting for. All the characters of Ganzfield have become like a family to me, and I look forward to seeing where Kaynac takes this series next!

After three books you're supposed to find a leak in a series, right? Wrong! I'm thinking how it is possible to give a rating of five stars when I gave it to the previous book and this one is even better!

Action, suspense, love, sadness, rage . . . Put these and more together and you will have an idea of what it is reading this book. But I have to be honest, you need to read this series from the beginning to be able to feel all the emotions I'm talking about. It's inevitable, you create a relationship—bad or good—with every character and after a while it's like reading about your family, your friends, people you care about. That's why if anyone of them is laughing, you won't stop laughing as well. If someone is feeling a deep connection with someone else, you can feel that, too. If one of them is crying, you can't control your own tears . . . And there are always cries, for a reason or another.

I'm pretty sure that when the series will stop I'm gonna cry as a baby, 'cause I'm gonna miss Ganzfield and all the amazing people who live there. However, I still have time, and I know that Kate Kaynak is gonna keep blasting my mind with her awesome story in the meantime!

I received a free copy of this book from the Publisher for an honest review. This does not affect in any way my opinion of the book nor the content of my revieworiginally posted on Darkest Sins.

This is the 4th in the Ganzfield series and I truly do love these books. Accused continues the story of Maddie and Trevor and the cast of characters at Ganzfield. I thought the development of the story was great and Maddie faces some pretty serious stuff in this installment, which adds a lot of depth to her character. Without giving too much away, I'd say that the scenes where Maddie is being held by Hunter are very powerful and her reactions to that situation very real.

The only thing that I had a slight complaint about was the Maddie/Trevor relationship. I love Maddie and Trevor, don't get me wrong. They're sweet and their relationship has developed well over the series. So the end of the book didn't ring true to me...and not just because I want them to be happily-ever-after. I understand that Trevor's actions are shocking and he might be reeling from them. But, I don't believe he'd make the choice he did -- or that Maddie wouldn't go after him!! (Is that a spoiler? I don't think so.) They've shown this incredible commitment throughout and then...well...

Again, it could be just me and wanting it to work out differently. Either way, it DEFINITELY left me wanting more. Operative (the 5th book in the series) is out in March 2012, which at the conclusion of Accused seems very far away!

*contains spoilers if you haven’t read the previous books in the series and NO Spoilers for Accused!

The Ganzfield series is one that has caught me off guard and made an absolute fan! After Minder and Adversary blew me away and Legacy left me happy but worried about the future of the series, I have to say that with Accused, Kate Kaynak has made sure fans will be looking forward to each new installment with gusto.

Accused has it all, Action, Romance as well as a lot of character and plot development. I was so scared of the path the series was taking after the “big villain” was killed off in Legacy, but I should not have worried, Kate has a plan and even the cliff hanger ending of Accused left me with my heart broken, I have to say that I can’t to see where she is planning to take this series.

The Ganzfield series is an awesome fast-paced Paranormal Y.A. series full of romance, great characters and awesome world building. If you enjoy P.Y.A. this is definitely a series you should check out and if you are already a fan, you CANNOT miss Accused!

Gah! I'm bent out of shape over the ending! My heart is currently in pieces all over my bedroom floor.

I abso-hated how things started off. Really wanted that trip to Aruba to happen but was robbed of that dream when Maddie was apprehended at the airport. I couldn't stand the isolation, especially when you found out about the drive-bys done by the Ganzfield friends.

As for Hunter? He has to be one of the worst villains. The things he did to Maddie were just plain horrible. What a disgusting creep. He so got what was coming to him later on...

And good gravy. It happened- but in an uninhibited, funny and also somewhat sad at the same time way. The moments afterwards were uncomfortably cute. I loved the blushing and cannot wait for the do-over! Damn those kryptonite darts!!

I wish the Belinda situation was resolved. I'm already dreading the inevitable possibility of her showing up in the next book. The team has got to catch that charm!

I'm also not sure if I like the proposition at the end of the book. I'm tired of Williamson, of blackmail, of not having enough relaxation time for Trevor and Maddie...

Bring on Operative!

If you have not picked up these books yet you are totally missing out on the awesomeness of the Ganzfield gang. ACCUSED is emotional, action packed, fast paced and all around awesome addition to the Ganzfield novels. My one and only complaint is a message to Kate:

Kate,

WHY??? WHY must it end there?? WHY is the next book so far away?? *sad face* you wound me.

Seriously, these books are a must read. I have picked up and devoured every book in the series so far and I'm impatiently waiting for the next. I really wasn't expecting to love the books so much when I first started reading them but now I cant imagine ever not reading a new one the moment I am able to get my hands on one. The characters grow so much in each book and even though the books are fast paced and are a quick read SO much happens. ACCUSED I believe is the most emotional book yet of the series. I cried like a baby for most of the book and im really looking forward to seeing where Kate is bringing the series. Kate OPERATIVE really needs to come out sooner =)

I swear, these books get better and better every single time. I loved Minder, here's my Review, I really loved Adversary, here's my Review, I really loved Legacy, here's my Review, and I really really loved Accused, and so will you.

I loved Minder because it introduced me to a world that was different from any I'd seen before. I loved Adversary because it built on the characters and story that I already adored. I loved Legacy because it was even more surprising and exciting than I could have imagined. But my love for Accused can't really even be expressed. I have been shouting to the world how amazing I think this series is, and if you haven't listened yet, there's no time like the present. Just read them.

Accused an exciting and emotional supernatural love story that has you tearing through page after page. I absolutely can't wait for Operative to come out because I'm dying to know what happens next. The whole entire series is crazily addicting and the characters are brilliant. If you don't read them, you really are missing out on something great. Just be prepared for the ride of your life.

Is it irrational for me to be completely passed off at Trevor?
I mean come on he was the one who did it. No one made him.
