I read the book, I followed the plan, I ran my first full Marathon (the day before my 44th birthday). That earns it five stars as far as I'm concerned.

Amazing read! Even when you are running for quiet some time. I am stocked to go vegan for a while and I hope this is the last inspiration tip I need to finally keep at it. From having done a few bigger races already I know that all tips are of high value given by Matt.
This was an inspirational one day read. Plus it comes with some bonus print outs and interviews as well.

It was a pretty complete and concise guide to a first marathon in a vegetarian diet. It clarified a lot of doubts I had and misconceptions, and I hope the advices are helpful and I am able to complete my first marathon this august. The thing I liked the most are de audio extras.

This book has given me the confidence to run a full marathon--something I've always maintained I had no interest in. I bought it to help me train for a half marathon after the last one I ran didn't go so well (despite following my training plan pretty well). It covers everything you need to know--besides providing training plans for 5k, 10k, half, and full marathons, it also comes with a simple two week vegan meal plan. Full disclosure--I haven't tried any of the recipes yet. The most important resources are the ones you wouldn't think about if you didn't read this book. These are things like assessing your motivations, how to choose a race, running safely, dealing with injuries, and what to do on race day. I think my biggest complaint is the author says flat out he doesn't recommend counting carb-protein-fat ratios, but then later on gives specific ratio recommendations. e.g. It doesn't help to say chocolate milk is actually a bad recovery drink if you don't say what a GOOD recovery drink is. Also note: you could probably find MOST of the information in the book on the No Meat Athlete website, but it's not as neatly organized.
