I grew up with this mountain. I ate picnic lunches with this mountain, lurking over me, big horned sheep, elk... over yonder... never have I attempted to climb it... Until one early morning (3:30am trail start time)...
This book saved us, actually. I'm so grateful I read it before I climbed this beastly mountain. The part about death by decapitation was an understatement. We didn't understand it when reading it around the fire the night before... But when you're there... and you see, and you lug your tired body up that steep shit... I can see where the ice and the loose boulders play in effect to causing a possible decapitation.
I'm very honored to have conquered this mountain: without a doubt the most difficult thing I have ever done. It completely ruled. It was 8:30 pm when we got back. 17 hours of pure conquering awesomeness. I earned my Zanmai Sushi this time
