The Nanny State

Rate this book
A timely book on the subject that has increasingly come to dominate the headlines. The phemomenon of the ‘Nanny State’ has gained much momentum recently, as the present government increasingly intrudes in every aspect of our lives and seeks to impose its moral guidance. "Political correctness" has become accepted currency in everyday communication and there is a persistent drive to ‘ban’ private habits of which the government dissaproves. New legislation is introduced to ‘protect’ the consumer, yet ultimately ends up drowning enterprise in bureaucratic red tape. Through an anecdotal compilation of examples The Nanny State lampoons this trend to infantilise the nation and sends a warning shot about the long-term economic fallout.
