Patricia Ann Kay was born on 7 March 1937 in a small town in northeastern Ohio, USA, where she raised along with three younger sisters. She considers herself a very lucky woman. The family didn’t have a lot of money, but she says that didn’t matter, because what they did have was worth more than money — a happy home. Her parents had a good marriage and they doted on their four daughters. That upbringing is reflected in the stories she writes. As readers all over the world have discovered, her books are filled with warmth and love of family.

Pat has lived in upstate New York, Northern Alabama, Southern California, and Stockholm (Sweden), and since 1969, in Houston, Texas with her husband. She says that no matter where she’s lived, she’s found that people everywhere are the same and want the same things: love and committed relationships. The marriage has three terrific grown children. They currently share their home with two longhaired cats, and a backyard filled with squirrels, birds, and other critters. Her hobbies and other interests include reading, walking for exercise, going to the movies and the theater, swimming, and traveling.

In 1990, Pat sold her first romance novel to Silhouette. Since then, more than four million copies of her novels have been published in eighteen different countries. Today, Patricia Kay, alias Ann Patrick and Trisha Alexander, is an USA Today bestselling author of 50 novels of romance and women's fiction.

Great story

I really liked the characters and the real problems and solutions that arose from the winnings. This could be a guide for smart lottery winners everywhere.

Easy to read. Loved how each chapter was about one character's life. Well defined plot. Well researched.

The best things in life are free

What would you do if you won the lottery? For Kate, it’s a wish come true.

Struggling with bills and financial woes while raising four teenagers and contending with a bitter ex-husband, Kate was barely holding it together. Until she discovers that she won the jackpot lottery. Of course, she couldn’t have been more excited. She now had to freedom to buy whatever she wanted. No more having to worry about money EVER.

But, soon, Kate learns the dark side of the lottery like greedy relatives, reporters, and money-hungry investors. I was shocked to hear how her family reacted, as if Kate owed them more money. I mean, she was nice enough to give them each their own car, but, soon, they started asking for more stuff, like a Euro trip, a new house, a new business. Heck, even the reverend was a greedy bastard, wanting $3 million dollars to build a new church. WTF!?

That was the problem with Kate making so many promises to so many people. At this rate, she was going to lose the money faster than she could blink. What I would’ve done is, after securing a nest egg for me and the kids, I would’ve given everyone else an equal share that they could’ve spent however they pleased. If they blew through it, then that’s their problem.

This story was relatable and easy to get into. I liked that the reader engaged in each of the characters as they battled to adjust to the money and all the attention. This goes on the concept that people were never satisfied and always wants more.

A real story that beckons the question: What would you do?

Kate Bishop is a divorced parent raising twins 19 years old Tom Tessa, Nicole & Erin the youngest. They live in a small Texas town. She's in financial difficulties.
Their roofs gets a bad leak, which caused one rooms ceiling to collapse.
She's at her wits end. Goes out to get a few things. She buys gas and the clerk asks if she wants to buy lottery tickets! She buys three.
Well she actual won the big one. After taxes taken out she won $28 million dollars!
Her life turns upside down. The media, people she's never met are driving her crazy.
There is so much more to this story, you need to read this book!

Winning the lottery--probably something everyone dreams about, but it was interesting to read all the negatives that came with it. This story was told from regularly changing viewpoints, but mostly from the single mom who won the lottery. I enjoyed the story as I thought about myself and how I would have handled the situation of coming in to a significant amount of money and how it would effect my life.

This was a nice story about a single mother of four teenagers struggling to make ends meet. She wins the lottery. The story takes the reader through the journey of having money and other people wanting her money and the decisions she has to make. Then the story stops! I doubt there is a sequel. It certainly is a stand alone book, but I would have liked to know more about the characters.

I have to give the author some credit as I did actually read this book to the end. But I really never felt like it went anywhere, there were romances and dramas and family troubles, but it all felt glossed over, nothing really went into enough depth to feel anything for the characters or their problems. Disappointing.

Easy read

What would you do of you won the lottery? Kate gets the answer to her prayers when she wins...or does she? This is a light, fun story with enough drama to keep things interesting and a surprising ending that left me with a smile. A great summer read!

What do you do when you need money? Dream about winning the lottery - what if you did? Your life would change so much. This was a fun read and really gets you thinking - what if you had more money than you knew what to do with? Everyone becomes your friend, everyone wants your money...

Quick and easy read that would be great for the beach. The ups and downs of winning big in the lottery is a great concept for a book. A bit predictable with a neat and tidy ending, but overall enjoyable.

4 stars for Wish Come True. It's hard to imagine what any of us would do if we win the lottery. Would it make all out problems go away? Or, would there just be a new set of problems? Kate's journey was a fun read.

Family

This is a brilliant book that shows how money can come between family, how love can turn to jealousy. Look forward to reading another of Patricia Kay's books.

Delightful story. Now I don't have to hope I'll win the lottery and wonder what it would feel like. I'll be happy not winning it ever.

GOOD story!

Good story line, kept my interest. However I was not crazy about the ending. It kind of left you dangling. Patricia Kay, is a good writer. You really get to know the characters. THIS IS the second book I've read by this author.

Kate Bishop was a divorced mother of 4 children living hand to mouth when one evening she bought a quick pick lottery ticket. To her amazement she won the lottery and thats when all the trouble began from family to friends even strangers everyone thought she owed them something, . from new cars to just giving them whatever they wanted. It was nothing but trouble and stress so she took her family on a long holiday . And made some decisions about what she wanted to do with the money. a truly heartfelt story.

How you should make decisions.

This book read so fast for me. It felt good to go on the ride with Kate except for the scary part but the decisions she made were great. There is usually jealousy where money is concerned unfortunately and she handled it well without dividing the family. Anyone who gambles should read this.

It's okay

I was surprised at how quickly she solved all the problems in her life. Money definitely helps solve problems though it apparently creates many more.

What started out as a good story with pretty good character development left me very dissatisfied with the end. It either needed a few more chapters or an epilogue to wrap it up. It seemed like an unfinished book & I was disappointed that I don't know more about the characters lives and what possibilities for Gabe & Kate.

The book started out well and was doing a good job of describing how life had changed for Kate and her family after she won the lottery. Rather continuing on that theme, the author chose to completely change the theme and turn it into a light romance. It seemed strange to me that men were suddenly so attracted to Kate after she won millions, and it would have been the perfect opportunity to expand upon the theme about how money changed Kate's attractiveness or how everyone wanted something from her. Instead, she chose to focus on relationships that had nothing to do with having won the lottery except for the fact that it allowed her to go on vacation with her kids, and a relationship of her son's that also had nothing to do with having won the lottery.
