Jane, a preacher's daughter, is getting forced into marrying a man twice her age and whom she does not love. Her prayers for a way out of her life are answered one fateful night starting a whole new existence and all new dangers. Soon she realizes that she can be more than just a dutiful daughter as she tries to survive a world where demons are real and they want to destroy her.
The book started strong, but quickly dissolved. Too many mistakes (such as not knowing the difference between loose and lose) created distractions while reading Prophecy Awakens.
Another issue was just how quickly the heroine falls in love and is suddenly the best or "a natural" at everything. Seems to be falling under The Mary Sue effect with just how good Jane seems to be at everything.
The biggest issue, however, is that the author never gets to the core of the characters. They pretty much say everything they are feeling, which is not how people normally talk. Non-verbal cues are more telling when it comes to intentions. There was a good first layer to the characters, but I felt we never got much further than that.
It could have been a better book, but a better editor, including someone to critique the book would have made for a more compelling story.
Simple straightforward supernatural love story with a little destiny and intrigue throne in, if you like that sort of thing then I would highly recommend it.
