When a tornado comes through Willow Bend, it not only takes off the roof of Eternal Hope Church, but it releases thousands of dollars into the community. The mystery of the money consumes the town, local law enforcement, the FBI, and of course, Gracie Parks, choir member, caterer, and part-time sleuth. The Church is in peril. Everyone is a suspect. Gracie needs help from her friends and from God to get to the bottom of this mystery.
I enjoyed this first book in the Church Choir Mystery series! It's a cozy mystery with characters I could relate to. I liked that (for once) no one died in this book!
Money's falling from heaven. Or so it appears. Shortly after a tornado comes through the town of Willow Bend, those from Eternal Hope Church's choir, step outside and money starts falling at their feet. The police chief looks into it and discovers more money hidden in the church choir loft. For some reason, government officials become involved and most everyone is a suspect. The official report is that 90 thousand dollars was found and people start claiming that that money was stolen from them.
Food is disappearing from Gracie's house as well. Prepared food in the refrigerator along with canned food.
This story starts out with a tornado ripping through the town and tearing the roof off of the church. As people go outside to see the damage, money floats down from the sky. Actually, it is money floated down from the hole in the church roof. So starts the mystery of how the money got there and who put it there. The FBI has an awful time because they suspect everyone but as those of us who live in a small town know, everybody knows every-bodies business. Who put the money there? Gracie and Uncle Miltie aim to find out.
The first in an older Christian cozy mystery series. This was just ok for me; slightly dated (this one was written in 2000). I did really enjoy Gracie, the main character. As I find these in thrift book stores, I will continue with the series.
This book was okay. A little more insight into the characters would have been helpful. The story just didn't flow as well as some of the other Guideposts mysteries. It was an okay read.
