Every day brings a new adventure for Jessy and Tom and their big blue sofa. One day they are underwater explorers on a big blue submarine, the next they are flying high above the clouds in a big blue hot air balloon. Sometimes they travel by big blue taxicab and sometimes they bounce on a big blue trampoline. Then, one day, the big blue sofa breaks! Can a brand new sofa ever be as much fun?
This book is all about a sofa and how it has been passed through family generations, the older generations are sick of it but the younger children within the book have a big sentimental attachment to the sofa. The book is full of different imaginary ways they utilise their sofa until one day it breaks and they have to get a new one.
I thought the illustrations within the text were really nice and unique, they complemented the text a lot. In addition, I thought the texture on the page was a unique selling point of the book as it allows children to actually touch the sofa and feel it's texture which I think KS1 and potentially EYFS would enjoy most.
What a lovely book about a beautiful friendship between a brother and sister! I was recommended this book by a friend and would love to show this to my class one day as an end of the day book. I love the pastel blue colour theme that runs throughout the book as well as the different textured sofa. A great book to use with children who love textures.

The way this book is laid out on the page makes an already fun story even more engaging. The use of fabric on each of the page is also a clever use of texture. Great for a ks1 class.
