A riveting work reflecting on the characteristics of Gregorian chant that have attracted the attention of so many: its permanence, beauty, and history, as well as its liturgical, sacred, and philosophical qualities.
A Rather technical work but there are some good insights. One needs to have a greater basic understanding of musicology and other disciplines but I did learn some things
I enjoyed the book, though occasionally repetitive, it dealt well with a subject intended to be absorbed by means other than reading. I read this in conjunction with a Latin Mass and Gregorian Chant choir at Philadelphia's Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. I have had a nice several weeks.
