Thought this would be a good read.to study for music theory, but a couple of pages in, I realized I did not care for the arguments presented. I do not base my understanding of music in theory. Theory is simply a way of describing what we hear and play.

If it sounds good, it sounds good. This book is convoluting and academic, but not presented in a way that Adam Schoenberg would present as where clearness and concisety are the aim as an educator. This book wants to impress with its breakdown of traditional major and minor scales, and brought the concepts of modes to the forefront of Western popular music.
Its presence was felt, but for.am.axtual book, not a great read. No.wonder it is no longer in print.
