Pursued, the fifth book in the Witches of Santa Anna series of novellas....
Natalia Moore is the new girl at Santa Anna Prep, and all she wants to do is fly under the radar -- get to her classes, meet a few friends, and try not to make a total fool of herself in the meantime. But when handsome and popular Campbell Elliot goes out of his way to be nice to the new girl, Natalia's plan to go unnoticed flies out the window.
Cam's hot, but he's completely off-limits. Raine Marsden, the most popular and meanest girl in school, has had her eye on him ever since the summer. And Raine doesn't like competition.
When Cam goes as far as inviting Natalia to the exclusive weekend party at Raine's house, Raine sets her sights on a new victim. But what Natalia doesn't know is that Raine and her friends are no ordinary mean girls. They have powers most people can only dream of, and nobody will stand in the way of what they want. And what Raine wants is Campbell.
Pursued is the fifth book in The Witches of Santa Anna series of novellas, a series that proves just how far true love will go and that nothing--not even pure evil--can change your destiny.
I am so engrossed in this now.. the series is really picking up its strength. The mystery with the 'Triad' is still really strong but it's now enveloping other areas too...
I am dying to find out what it is with the white butterfly, is it good? evil? There are so many questions I want to find answers to with regard to Natalia, Cam and Brody...
In Book #4 Hushed we learned that Raine has a black butterfly necklace that has something to do with her witchy powers and that Derek wanted to talk to Natalia and it was urgent as he has been texting her non-stop. In Pursued we learned that Brody's sister who is supposed to be in rehab is now out and knows Derek as on a stakeout of Derek's house - Cam and Natalia see Brody's sister coming out. What is she doing here when her family thinks she is in a facility? After a brief meeting with Derek, Natalia is now confused and doesn't know who exactly to trust as everyone around her seems to be speaking in riddles and not making much sense. In her bag, Natalia finds a white butterfly necklace that gives her the same powers as Raine but because it's white - does this mean she is a good witch, not a bad witch? We also learn that Brody is immune to the witchy charms and trances? Why is Brody immune? With only two books to go, we are still left with a lot of unanswered questions and a series that isn't making much sense, yet it draws you in as you can't stop reading it with the hope and faith that all will be revealed. Pursued, like the previous books is a quick read novella and ends on a cliffhanger.
Alright now I’m kinda pissed. I read Five parts of this story and when it’s just getting good I have to go out and buy another part (possibly by itself) for 99 cents to hear the ending. And what if the ending isn’t even very good? I’m thinking SCCAAAm.
About this actual part yeah it was great definitely worth the read like all the others (IF you buy them in a pack) and the cliffhanger is AAAMAZING if I didn’t have to waste another buck on what 50 pages?
Okay, so far we have Natalia, the "good" girl who is in love with Cam, the allegedly "good" guy, but she's actually dating Brody, who may or may not be witchy, while Cam is being pursued by Raine, who is pretty much confirmed to be a witch at this point.
What's up with all this weird butterfly stuff now? If you have a black butterfly necklace, you can control people's minds but you're evil. If you have a white butterfly necklace, and you control people's minds in the *exact* same fashion for the *exact* same reason, you're good?
Pretty much all we learned in PURSUED is that there are white butterfly charms too, that Natalia can be an almost-witch while she has a necklace, and that Brody (for whatever reason) is immune to having his mind controlled by the butterfly charms.
This series makes no sense. But I'm *still* reading... LOL...
Another enjoyable read. I really like this series, my only problem is - I still can't see why they are spilt into so many books. I think it would of been better as one whole series. Anyway, its great being back with Cam & Natalia and this story we start to finally find out some answers. I love the little cliffhanger at the end and going to start the next one straight away :)
This is the 5th book in the ever growing Witches of Santa Anna series by Lauren Barnholt.
After reading the first 4 releases, I was starting to become a little desperate for this instalment to find out what happens next. Needless to say I was not disappointed, and as usual the reader is left on a cliff-hanger ending!
This series of books are really short answer didn't do much for me.... They didn't make much since and they kind of made me bored through out the series
