Rate this book
We face a long-term structural crisis in how we understand our world. Lee argues that both knowledge and its structures form an inseparable whole, which governs what actions people will take. I read this for my Study of the World-System class during the cultural theories week and I quite enjoyed it. It's always a bit awkward when a professor assigns his own book to read, but Richard was really nice about it and maintained his sense of humor about it. The book itself was a helpful tool for understanding how cultural studies can be integrated into thinking about world-systems analysis, and was well-written too, which is quite a thing to be happy about when you're reading sociological theory monographs.
