The First Book of Red

Red the magician encounters a beautiful orange tree spider nymph who asks him and his trusty assistant, Gorf, to join her on a journey through the Great Lands to find out why her homelands are being destroyed. They have to speak to Gor of Gor Peak. As they travel to Gor Peak, they meet up with a small party of wizards from The Mount, also going to see Gor, and find themselves all tangled up in the task of saving Mount Arnica, home of the wizards and mages. The Mount is a volcano and it is about to erupt as they discover Gor's devious plot. They enlist the help of a huge dragon who is happy to help because the crew has been very kind to her lost child. They encounter some lovely creatures, including Wind Sprites, and Gor comes to an unexpected but very fitting end.

Not a bad little book. It is a quick read and the author should improve with time. I like the adventure, but sometimes the building plot does not lead anywhere. A conflict will resolve itself in the same paragraph in which is started. A good voice.
