Emma Darcy is the pseudonym created by the married writing team of Wendy (1940-2020) and Frank Brennan (1936-1995). Their life journey has taken as many twists and turns as the characters in their stories, whose international popularity has resulted in over sixty-million book sales. With more than a hundred titles, Emma Darcy appeared regularly on the Waldenbooks bestseller lists in the U.S.A. and in the Nielson BookScan Top 100 chart in the U.K.

Wendy was born 28 November 1940 in Australia. Her sister was the novelist Maureen Mary (Miranda Lee). Her father was a country school teacher and brilliant sportsman. Her mother was a talented dressmaker. She obtained an Honours degree in Latin and initially worked as a high school English/French teacher. She married Frank Brennan, an Australian businessman born in 1936. She changed careers to computer programming before marriage and motherhood settled her into a community life. She was reputedly the first woman computer programmer in the southern hemisphere.

As voracious readers, the step to writing their own books seemed a natural progression and the challenge of creating exciting stories was soon highly addictive. They were published since 1983. In 1993, for the Emma Darcy pseudonym's 10th anniversary, they created the "Emma Darcy Award Contest" to encourage authors to finish their manuscripts. After the death of Frank Brennan in 1995, Wendy wrotes books on her own. She lived in a beachside property on the central coast of New South Wales, and liked to travel extensively to research settings and increase her experience of places and people.

Wendy Brennan passed away on December 21, 2020. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and sister, writer Miranda Lee.

"Blind Date" is the story of Peggy and Adam.

Have you ever heard of the single "Hot and Cold" by Katy Perry? If yes, that's the perfect song to describe this book.

The book is about a hard-on-luck A/V communication college student, who participates in a blind date reality show to win a stereo. She deliberately sabotages her answers, yet gets chosen as the winner by the playboy heartthrob singer, Adam!
They begin a rocky courtship, which starts with a slap, travels to multiple blowout scenes and culminates in a dramatic run-and-chase sequence.

Honestly, the first 1/4th of the story was so strong. The humor was on point, the characters were witty and chemistry was sizzling. Then midway through, we saw their emotional potential. However, it's their volatile nature and over dramatic reactions that made me deduct the stars.

Average read.

Decent book, what I liked was that the heroine had principles and even when she fell for the hero she was not willing to let her education slid for him. The hero is famous and used to getting his way and the heroine is a breath of fresh air, she didn't want to win the date with him and he knows that, she also doesn't worship him or fall at his feet. I liked how he was willing to apologize for his mistakes. I am now curious to read Songs of a Wren in which we meet the Knights, who are mentioned here.

It was very nice book - I highly recommend it because the heroine didn't buckle under hero's pressure and gave as good as she got!

It was just OK, nothing special. No chemistry, mediocre plot, one dimensional characters.

The reviews about this book are a little confusing. Maybe it contained more stories than just the one I read. The I read was about an intelligent young women who's in college studying media communications. She entered a game show hoping to win the second prize--a stereo. She won first prize by accident, a date with a gorgeous musician. He's arrogant and has a bad temper but they eventually fall for each other. I thought the guy was seriously a jerk, the story was really, really, really standard for a shoujo one-shot, and I found the art to be old-fashioned. But it wasn't bad, just unoriginal and unmemorable.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I first heard about this story from my high school seatmate who is into romance pocketbooks and eventually I got hooked too! But I never found the copy of this book up until last year. The story started as interesting, the heroine was smart and sassy. I didn't like the Hero though. He was a jerk and although he did come after the heroine in the end, it seemed like a (late) afterthought.

Peggy's aim to fail at winning a blind date with pop-star Adam backfires. Adam finds the answers to his question intrigue him and wants to know more about the spirited woman.

Just OK. Seems to just jump suddenly from first meeting to sex.

Quirky, fun read. A fantastic love story built around a celebrity pop star and a smart, sassy student. Improbable in real, but dreamy and sweet on paper.

The girl is a mass communications student, topper, keen on a TV career. She is not a groupie, not star crazy. Yes, she is a fan of super star pop singer Adam, but not bonkers about him.

She enrolls into a celebrity reality show called 'Blind Date' where Adam is the judge. Does she want to win the grand prize, a blind date with him? Oh, no !! All that she wants is a stereo set that's the consolation prize ;)))

So she goes about giving quirky, outrageous, feminist sounding answers in the contest. But that is precisely why he notices her, chooses her !!!!

There begins their whirlwind romance. Fun moments, personality clashes, wild fights, passionate sexual encounters, gradual mutual understanding. And then finally a calm, complete acceptance of each other's differences and the love that overcomes these differences.

Nice pace set by the story, inheriting it from the high octane world of pop music and celebrity chat shows.

Read it for a glam star hero and a pocket dynamo heroine. Sparks flying all over. Great fun !

And yes, be sure to put aside your logical brain which questions the credibility of such whirlwind romances spanning mere 2-3 weeks. Just get on the joy ride and enjoy.

I like the story 3.5 but I went up because I liked the heroine. She did not become steam rolled into forgetting who or what she wanted

Mehh. No real drama. The h felt childish, and argumentative for no reason. I kept waiting for something to happen. The only drama came the last 10 pages and was resolved at once.
