This book is a thorough introduction to the worlds leading fencing system. Deeper and more systematic than any other text available in English. George Edward Kolombatovich, Head Coach, Columbia University. the modern international style is a systematic, in-depth introduction to the theory and practice of fencing both the how and the why. Unlike most introductions, its purpose is to give students enough knowledge to teach the sport, not just practice as beginners. But beginners can learn from it, too. The book is clearly and extensively illustrated. The original material has been supplemented with chapters on the history of fencing, a safety checklist, and a worldwide directory of suppliers and federations.
Good foundation textbook for learning to coach fencing. It contains a very interesting discussion on the merits of the "old" method with the new. It's starting to show its age a little but a must read nonetheless.
A star has been lost given the terrible translation which renders the book dry and sometimes difficult to comprehend.
