On a business trip to Bermuda, realtor Diana Holcomb's small plane goes down over the ocean, a victim of the infamous Bermuda Triangle.
Diana wakes up to find herself on a deserted island...that really isn't all that deserted. First, a gigantic dinosaur tries to eat her. Then she's captured by cavemen, and just when things are looking their worst, she's rescued by none other than a gorgeous man with the body of an Adonis and the jungle skills of Tarzan.
Salvador's been stranded on the island for a very, very long time without a woman. A very, very long time. And now that he has Diana, he intends to claim her for his own...

A NOTE ABOUT FRIENDING: I will happily friend you back if you friend me! Goodreads is, after all, about discussing books we both love. I will NEVER self-promote my books to you. And if you self-promote your books to me, no matter how nicely, I'm deleting you off my list. Sorry. Goodreads is about fun, not spam.
A NOTE ABOUT MY REVIEWS: Hey, look at that! Most of my reviews are really positive! This is not me kissing ass - It's because at heart, I am a lazy reader. If I'm not enjoying a book, I don't finish it. I don't review anything I didn't finish, ergo, most of the reviews I put up here are pretty much positive across the board because I finished them and was happy with the story. Makes sense, right?
I wanted something different, and I definitely got it. Just imagine you’re stranded on an island with dinosaurs, dirty little cavemen, and a Spanish speaking Tarzan. Yeah. It’s unexpected and it was an awesome read!
I love quirky stuff, and Island Heat by Jill Myles certainly fits the bill! This was my first time reading this author, and it won't be the last. She packed a plane wreck, T Rex, posse of marauding cavemen, the Bermuda triangle, a time warp, beautiful tropical island, hot conquistador in a loincloth, lots of romance, and even a sweet HEA into one funky story. (Honestly, she had me at loincloth). The hero of this book, Salvador, is delicious. He's a Spanish Tarzan-y conquistador who keeps popping up to save the damsel in distress, or woo her with a nest filled with tropical flowers (swoon time). The fact that he is a gorgeous specimen of masculinity wearing only a loincloth is just the icing on the deserted island cake. The heroine is okay....I like my heroines a bit spunkier, especially if they are warding off ferocious dinosaurs and stuff. Anyhoo, this was a fun, entertaining read.
These type of books are what I really love. Survival while stranded on a deserted island with epic love story and a time travel twist. Unfortunately, this one wasn't very epic. The beginning is very fast paced and action packed then it just kind of dribbles on.
Quick Rundown: Chick on a plane with client, stewardess and pilot on way to Bermuda crash through a time travel portal onto a deserted island. At first, as the lone survivor she get's taken by natives but is rescued by surfer boy who turns out to be from 15th century (?) Spain. There are dinosaurs and 3 others (from 19th century Europe ?) caught on this island where there is no time. Small struggle to get the stewardess and client from the natives. Small struggle with a T-Rex. Kissing in a dinosaur nest of flowers. Chick's lackluster attempt at escape with her client in a washed up boat before she realizes she's in love and doesn't want to leave. The end. Not compelling enough to hide spoilers.
Characters: Fine but blah. Nothing really happens. Very little struggle for survival. Very little interaction between all the characters. We never really learn the others' histories or get an opportunity to love them. They're just window dressing and plain at that. Salvador (surfer looking dude) doesn't tell chick that he speaks English at beginning and never says why. Chick is really slow on the uptake that these people aren't from her time period-- apparently, the T-Rex and eating out of conquistador helmets aren't enough of a clue. Chick's in insta-lust with Dude which is fine but lackluster, again.
World Building: Fine. Mud, plants, waterfall, cave...check.
Overall, completely lackluster and my lust for deserted island stories was not actualized. If there had been more personal interaction or conflict between characters then it would have gotten 4 stars from me.

this is a great example of why you can't judge a book by its cover. was it a bit cheesy? yes (in a good way), but it was actually a really captivating sci fi romance. it was a survival (ish) story that had dinosaurs, cavemen, a time warp, and a tarzan-esque 16th century conquistador all on a deserted island in the bermuda triangle that the fmc lands on when her plane crashes. like what else could i ask for tbh

Diana and Salvador- main characters
This book so far is the best! i have never read a book that made me laugh so much from the beginning till the middle..i love how Diana gets touched by a cavemen and how she thought that Salvador can't communicate with her because he doesnt speak english, but really he does know and understand english. This book has a great plot, and leaves me wanting to stay up all night to finish it.but sadly i have to get some sleep at night. There are creatures in this book, a man-to-man fight for Diana, family, and tons of other things. if you think that this book sounds boring, its not. this book is a perfect read for when you have nothing else to do, or when you want to try something different. to tell you guys the truth, this book is the first book that i feel that has its own special thing about it...like its different from other books.
We find out on this island that.... -people who are on it don't age -the caveman and the humans made a sort-of treaty, that whatever is in the north or whatever flows from the ocean that lands on the north is the humans posessions, and whatever lands on the south is the caveman's posessions.
the ending: Estace(Salvador's close friend/Brother relationship) and Susie(a woman that estace and Diana rescued/also one of the people that was with Diana on the airplane b4 it went down on the island) decides to stay with Estace on the island and live with him happily ever after, and Diana leaves salvador and goes with her boss on a boat back to her real life, but once she was out of the island she decides that her happiness was with Salvador, so she goes back into the ocean and back into the island with Salvador to live happily ever after. Everyone is happy, and hopefully in the future future future future everyone will still be happy. #150

I really liked this book, yes it was different but thats part of why I liked it. This book has a Tarzan, Jane vibe to it in all the right ways. We have a possessive "mine" hero and a strong sweet heroine thrust into a new world she has to adjust to. My only complaint was that I really wished this book had an epilogue but I'm a sucker for an epilogue so I always want them. This book was really fun and out of the norm for me but I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end.
On a business trip with a not so great client Diana has dream of retiring young and selling this house will make her dream that much closer. Then the plain she is on has problems and is going down fast. When Diana wakes she realizes very quickly that this island isn't like any place she has ever been to. When men come and take her, Diana has no other though but to escape. Then the man from her dreams while stuck on the plane comes and saves her while making claims that she is his.
Salvador keeps Diana safe and there is no denying the attraction, the longer they are together the more Diana starts to adjust and starts to fall for Salvador, but the life she left behind still calls to her. When Diana meets the others she finds happiness and soon can't imagine a life from Salvador. But this island isn't safe, and soon Diana will have to decide if Salvador is enough.
As I said before I really liked this book plain and simple. I had a lot of fun reading this book and didn't want to put it down. Salvador was a great hero, he wanted Diana, he got Diana, but he also lover her and would do anything to make sure she was happy. Diana was a great heroine yes she does somethings that you think why, but she is thrust into a crazy world so really I probably would have done some of that too. The side characters were great and I enjoyed them so much I actually wished this had been a series with at least one more book. This is one of those books that perfect to read and escape into. If you are looking for a Tarzan jane possessive book this is it.
Ok- this has it all for me. The premise is hilarious- it's Jurassic Park meets Gilligan's Island. A high end realtor on a private jet with her man whore client crashes in the Bermuda triangle on a mysterious island outside of time. The island comes with terrifying beach dwelling Tyrannosaurs Rex, brutal early humans, and just a few stranded European castaways. One of them is Salvador..and well..he's like Tarzan who speaks in a sexy Spanish accent. Yeah I like. The ONLY thing I had an issue with is that the h was in denial far too long and didn't put the facts together about what was happening. If there are dinosaurs on the island you are on as well as cave men- it follows that something is amiss with time- DUH.
Tropical island paradise - check. Shipwrecked survivors with no "Blue Lagoon" incest - check. Dinosaurs - check. Cavemen who say "meh" - check. Sexy Spanish conquistador named Salvador - check. Sexy English aristocrat to act as foil - check. Modern heroine in a sports bikini - check.
Robinson Crusoe. Cast Away. The Land that Time Forgot. Lost. 10 Million BC. When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth. All of these movies come to mind. If you enjoyed any of these, and enjoy romance, then you'll love this book. "Most excellent!" as Bill would say.
Realtor Diana Holcomb regrets taking her handsy client to look at property in Bermuda then instant he steps on the plane without his wife. Dodging his advances is bad enough -- before the plane crashes on a strange island in the Bermuda Triangle.
Island Heat is definitely a weird novel, but mostly in a good way. Dinosaurs, prehistoric cavemen, and shipwrecked sailors (from as back as far as the 1500s) are found on the island. Diana connects with sexy Spaniard Salvador in an insta-love way that might be odd in any other book, but when he saves her from a caveman's sexual assault and from being eaten by a T-rex, all bets are off. This book is wacky fun.
Technically a romance novel, but it had dinosaurs 🦖 The romantic adventure worked for me. I enjoyed the novel. This is a first person narrative by the character Diana. Some of the things she says, as well as her thoughts were humorous.
Would have been a four star read, but I removed a star for all the times she slapped him because I hated it so much. Overall enjoyable, didn’t really like the heroine half the time but I liked the world.
I enjoyed Jill Myles’ Succubus Diary series this past year so when I learned she had a couple of self published books out, I grabbed them up. I went into Island Heat without having read the blurb and thought it was a contemporary, so when a dinosaur shows up (like an actual T-Rex), I was a little taken aback at first.
When Diana’s plane crashes on the way to a business trip to Bermuda, she wakes up on a deserted island. It doesn’t take her long to be discovered by native men who don’t speak her language but it is easy to tell they mean her harm. As she flees from them, she not only must try to survive the extreme island conditions, but she starts to be hunted by an actual T-Rex. Scared and alone, she meets Salvador, a very attractive man clothed only in a loin cloth. Although they don’t speak the same language, Salvador takes her to safety and soon she learns many more secrets this island holds.
Island Heat is kind of like Lost meets Jurassic Park. Told in Diana’s point of view, at first I had to set aside reality just a bit as she crashes into the island. Although she wakes up sunburned, this is really the only “injury” she has after crashing from an airplane. She then spends days running around with no shoes on and just happens to find her suitcase and purse. Otherwise, I started to like this journey Diana goes on. She starts this quirky, yet very sexy romance with Salvador. He is pretty much like Tarzan – beating his chest in his scantily clad loin cloth making grunting noise at her. It’s kind of hot!
Eventually these two find common ground. I don’t want to spoil too much of how the story progresses. But there are twists and turns, and explanations for why there are dinosaurs roaming around. And some more eerie discoveries. For a novella, I really think the world is built up nicely, not giving us all the information at once and building up the suspense.
I think the romance between Diana and Salvador progresses too quickly. I loved the hot smex, but the declaration of love feels too rushed. However, I did like how the story is wrapped up and the decision Diana makes at the end. Island Heat is a very entertaining, different kind of novella. (And it’s only $.99!)
Diana Holcomb finds herself in a Lost episode. She is a realtor who flies to Bermuda with a potential client on his private plane. Once they reach the Bermuda Triangle the plane crashes. She finds herself in a deserted island and when she finds what is left of the plane, only the remains of the captain are present. She suffers from heat exhaustion and during this state she thinks there is a gorgeous guy taking care of her.
The Island is also the habitat of Dinosaurs and Cavemen. One specific caveman wants her and tries to take her away. Luckily the dream guy is real and his name is Salvador. He saves her and shows her how the Island works. She also meets more survivors and starts helping with the daily routine.
Trusting and falling in love with Salvador, avoiding getting killed by Dinosaurs or belonging to a nasty caveman makes this book entertaining. Our heroine will have to answer some questions. What if you can go back home? Would you? Or stay and live a simple life instead?
It was a pleasant read. This is a typical romance novel with a Dinosaur twist. 3/5 Fangs cross posted at my blog http://mrsleifs.blogspot
Dinosaurs, cavemen, hot Spainards, fun, exciting and sexy. I loved this book and would have given it 5 stars but I hated how the book ended. It was ended with high drama that didn't need to happen then rushed to an end with little to satisfy. Don't let my negative feelings on the ending keep you from reading it though because it really was an awesome read!
Every so often when I need something light and enjoyable to read, I find myself re-reading a jill Myles book! Island heat is one of my favorites, Salvador is Diana's very own Tarzan.
After crashing on an island, Diana is suddenly fearing for her life. Dinosaurs, Cave men, and a spanish jungle man, Diana is in for a ride...
This was cute and remarkably less erotic than most of what I've read from Myles. The heroine is a bit on the damsel in distress side, but I like the gorgeous 'Tarzan' who comes to her rescue, was she crash lands on an island that time forgot.
The core story/plot was so interesting it had me hooked. Unfortunately, the storytelling itself was a bit all over the place. Lots of things just didnt make sense.. I tried to be patient waiting for them to be revealed but got to say they ruined the book for me.
The most frustrating thing I found was the heroine's lack of normal behaviour 😂
Tarzan pretends not to understand english for the first 2 days of meeting you. You find out he does actually speak english and kick up a fuss, then quickly forgive him but NEVER ASK WHY HE PRETENDED. I am still dying of curiosity why he did 🤦🏻♀️😂
Island chic the heroine meets speaks all old fashioned and introduces herself as Lady Olivia and her brother as Marquess of Langdon, to which the heroine responds, "oh, I don't have a title I'm afraid". and thats it 🤦🏻♀️ How does she NOT ASK OLIVIA TO TELL HER MORE? HOW IS THIS HEROINE NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY INTERESTED TO KNOW HOW THEY CAME TO BE ON THE ISLAND?
Also.. I have seen some stupidly reckless heroines in my reading history but this one takes the cake. You are on a messed up island ruled by crazy cavemen and dinasaurs. If the nice hunky Tarzan says stay on the tree. STAY ON THE TREE. If he says stay away from the creepy cavemen, STAY AWAY FROM THE CREEPY CAVEMEN.
The ending to the wonderful plot was also kind of lame. Apparently, any of them could leave the island. And infact, if they saw a ship sailing by they could build a raft and go to it. Umm.. what was this story then of being stranded? And for hundreds of years? Um really.
Haha, these are just some of the crazy times in the book that had me raising an eyebrow at the ridiculousness.
If you are looking for something quirky, definitely pick up this book. Although that isn't what I was looking for (I should have realized from the description) I still enjoyed it. From dinosaurs, to cavemen, to a knight in shining....loin cloth, it definitely kept me interested until the end.
What I didn't care for was the writing style. I don't feel like the characters, relationships, or the story line was developed enough. The writing was very choppy, jumping from one scene to the next without fully giving me a picture of what was happening or how the characters were feeling. I think it lacked a lot of depth.
All in all, it was an okay book. Definitely a fun, light read if you are looking for something like that.
This story pretty much had everything. Diana did bother me at different points in the story but overall I found the story very entertaining. Sweet romance between Sal and Diana. I think he definitely fell first and I loved it.
Spoiler Rant:
Not sure if I would consider the ending completely happy. Forever is a long time... Also sad that Olivia will always be in the body of young teenager, no matter her emotional maturity. But it is sweet that they at least will spend a very, very, very long time together.... I guess...
SPOILERS "You love me.?" Yeah, Studly, I understand your surprise. I couldn't tell, either, not with all of her hitting and slapping. Was that supposed to be cute? It was not. Another thing that was not cute was the absolutely useless TSTL heroine. I am pretty sure he only loved her because she was the only woman on the island. The author had some great ideas, but really failed to create a believable love story.
I loved the book. Although it could have used more alone time with Salvador and Diana. And each time he spoke in spanish, I wish us readers would know what was being said. I can't help but keep remembering the waterfall scene and later he knowing that they were being watched. Personally if it was more of cavemen and Salvador coming to rescue Diana and their "love-making" scenes I'd would read it over and over again.

It was a reasonably good read but did not really hold my attention. It's sort of a time travel I guess. The island that she ends up on time stands still - you never age. She is on a business trip to Bermuda with three others when the small plane goes down over the ocean. He ends up rescuing her and they fall in love. When a chance to escape the island arises she doesn't want to leave him behind. He can never leave as he would die.
I loved this story, it was so different and fun! it was perfect and sweet, just as Salvador was perfect and sweet. I loved when he wrestled the Saber-tooth tiger, killing it just to bring her a kitten and make her smile. I adored the ending, it was fantastical and perfect!
So much wasted potential! Even for a fantasy book, the MCs actions and reactions made no sense whatsoever! Why did the H pretend not to speak english? Why did the h was so flippant in such dire circumstances? I love a good fantasy book, but make this one was just a wasted oportunity 🤷🏻♀️

One of these days I'll be able to DNF a book without the nagging feeling of needing to finish it. But that day is not today. The plot has more holes than a fine slice of swiss cheese and I just didn't feel any chemistry between the characters. At least it had some dinosaurs.
