Richard Tulloch is one of Australia's most popular writers of books, plays, film, and television for young audiences. His television series', which include 150 episodes of the phenomenal BANANAS IN PYJAMAS, have reached an audience of hundreds of millions around the world. In 1998 he won his third Australian Writers' Guild AWGIE award for his play BODY AND SOUL, and was also nominated in America for the prestigious Hollywood 'Annie' award for his screenplay for the animated feature film FERN GULLY II: THE MAGICAL RESCUE.

Y In this sequel to the book "Weird Stuff," we find Brian saddled with the after-school care of his 5-year-old brother, Matthew. That's not cool because now he can't hang out with the girl he likes or watch the new zombie hunter television show that's based on his favorite book by Lance Cummings. Well, he ends up watching the show with his brother anyway. This turns out to be a bad idea because now his brother is imitating a zombie hunter by attacking "real" zombies in the kick-boxing style of the television show. Brian realizes this is a problem and tries to stop his brother's behavior. This story is filled with funny scenes involving fairies and zombies, which would be amusing to younger tween readers. Brian's negative reaction to the violence in the zombie television show and his growing friendship with another five-year-old who insists on dressing like a fairy is enlightening. Towards the end of the book Brian becomes a good role model for the caring older brother. The story is also illustrated with comic drawings drawn so they appeared taped into the book and each chapter is a vocabulary lesson with a definition for a new word.

Freaky Stuff is the sequel to Weird Stuff and they are both VERY humorous. So it starts out with Brian Hobble again and he writes emails to Lance Cummings, the author who wrote Brian's favourite book, The Zombie Squad. Brian is giving Lance drafts of his new book, Freaky Stuff (Brian is making books too, just for fun and for writing practice).
So what happens is that after Brian shows his little brother, Matthew, The Zombie Squad, he gets obsessed and starts to believe that The Zombie Squad is actually real. This brings on real trouble. Later on, Brian's class has to pick a "buddy" in Matthew's class and unfortunately, Brian gets stuck with a fairy obsessed boy who thinks that he's a fairy and throws fairy dust around. Matthew's buddy is Brian's worst enemy.
Overall, all these problems with fairies and zombie starts appearing and Brian has to stop these obsessions. Since he is a big brother, he has to be a good role model for Matthew. Will Brian find a way to stop Matthew's Zombie Squad obsession? Will he be able to survive with a girly, fairy obsessed "buddy"?

I love these books! Anything that ends with the main character dressing up like a fairy and sprinkling magic fairy dust on a mob of rampaging five-year-olds who want to kill zombies is AMAZING, that's all there is to it. I'm a college student and I still loved reading about Brian, in fact I even stayed up late into the night (or early morning as the case may be) in order to finish it. This is a timeless classic that all people of all ages will love to read. I dare you to read this book and not laugh hysterically!

Freaky stuff is a good book. It is hard to take your eye off it. In the the beginning off this book it is pretty confusing, but as time goes on you get what is happening. I inferred in freaky friday when I was reading. He was saying heap3s on one page and the school sounded like it was Australian. I inferred that the story took base in Australia.

I think the book was okay. At times it was a real good non-fiction book but sometimes it just got weird and annoying. Like every time something happened Brian would relate it to the show Zombie Squad. I'm not sure maybe I just find the book too childish or its just no my thing. So overall I say it was an okay book.

I am having a hard time getting into this book. It is written as an ever going e-mail between an author and a young boy.The book that precides it is Weird Stuff. I am sure boys in fourth or fifth grade would enjoy this so much more than I.

This book was very interesting. Most of the story was full of fails and mistakes that I used to face in school. Some parts were boring and some parts were really funny. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a humorous fiction book.

FREAKY STUFF is about all these scary things that happen to Brian Hobble. Yup, he's back! With even funnier stories. Richard Tulloch is definitely one of my fav authors.

A fun book and awesome with fiction and realistic fiction combined. Makes the reader want to read all the time until its finished.
