This was a silent, unexpected, and a nasty surprise. What a farce. Books like this are getting 4.02 as average score, while other better books by the same author are languishing in around 3.60 score.

Readers who hate cozy mysteries hate books like this. Ring for Murder does a disservice to the genre. The main couple get their marriage postponed. Okay. There are promising points to be plotted.

But instead, the author goes on a tangent about a murder of the hero's brother, in the middle of which the couple cuddle and hug and kiss without sleeping together. The murder mystery is a mess. I'm glad this is the last book in the series.

The books really lost their touch since the beginning. With each book, the series fell a little more short of what readers would expect in an initially award-nominated series.

This book served only one real purpose: to wrap everything up. While the murder itself was obvious--it's hard not to be obvious when you find a body in a bathtub with a knife sticking out of its chest--the mystery was not well-plotted. The red herring with the shipwreck coins and note in the wall wasn't described very well--they could have been effective and interesting if Myers had provided more details about them. It also made no sense that the main suspects just showed up at the inn to stay rather than leaving the area after the crime--I mean seriously, what the heck?

I also didn't like how Alex's brother is described as such a terrible person. He's really despicable, and everything about Tony is chronicled with such bitter loathing. In previous books, you know that Alex and his brother Tony don't get along, but this book takes it to a new level. Their relationship and Tony is described in such a way that you wonder if Myers has brother issues. It felt uncomfortable and very personal. I didn't think it was necessary to make Tony a. his brother and so terrible or b. his brother at all (he could just be a terrible person in general or a distant relative).

I'm glad I stuck with this series, but I'm also glad that it's over.

I am not sure that the editor ever read this book. I found so many typos and whatnot that actually took away from the book! As for it being a series final it didn't really seem like it ended...it is left open for more books but the author is not sure that they are going to happen so he is calling a final until he can make up his mind. this is also kind of frustrating.

I enjoyed this series, but this finale - although I'm very glad he wrote it - was so poorly edited that I had trouble reading it. Things lip through, I realize, but there were so many grammatical mistakes and obvious cut-and-paste errors that it really detracted from the book for me.

I loved this whole series. I was sad to see the end. These two make such a cute couple. Great read. I also enjoy the small town feel and his close friends.
