A sexy NFL star reunites with his lost love and finds a family he never knew existed in this exciting new contemporary African American romance. Brynne Armstrong, a counsellor at a Detroit women's centre, returned to Detroit after an abrupt break-up with her boyfriend Devin Prescott, star NFL quarterback. For the past four years her life has revolved around work and her 3-year-old daughter Shanna, but that changes when Devin suddenly reappears. Devin is shocked to run into Brynne at a party. His old pain returns as he remembers how Brynne left him without any explanation. But he finally gets his explanation, or at least part of it, when Brynne tells him she left because she was pregnant. What she doesn't tell him is that she became pregnant after being raped, and doesn't know if the baby is Devin's or her attacker's. She has never tried to find out Shanna's father's identity out of fear that it would be the attacker, but now she must know the truth and asks Devin to take a paternity test. They discover that he is the father. Not knowing about her attack, he's furious and hurt that she was cheating on him, and that he missed the first years of his daughter's life. As he spends time with Shanna he feels confused about Brynne. He still loves her but thinks he can't trust her. Brynne also still loves him, but she's never told anyone about her attack. She is afraid of what he will think, or if he'll even believe her. But they know they want to be a family, and that will mean taking risks and learning to trust each other again.

This is a re-read for me. The #BlackAFReadAThon brought me back to An Everlasting Love. Brynne and Devin are two of my favorite romance characters. His unwavering support and tender love for her as she battles a traumatic event that tore them apart is what warms me every-time I read this book. Looking for a true romance that engages all parts of you...this is it!!
I have read this book at least 4 times, and it never disappoints. Even while covering such a sensitive topic, Ms Ford has managed to still captivate the audience. I love it when I read a book and want to marry the character. Devin was so amazing in how he loved and handled Brynne. This book is definitely a favorite!!
The book ticks all the boxes, but the writer doesn't seem to have a grasp on the emotion that such a delicate topic of rape introduces. Like, there's the time when Brynne Armstrong (the protagonist) finds out that the paternity of the daughter is what she wanted, nay, what she needs - the writer presses all the bum notes. Like, I'm a woman, I can relate to the fear and loathing of being raped, and I wanted to feel for Brynne, I really did, but the writer seemed so uncomfortable with the subject, she held herself away, and as a result, chased me away too.
All is not lost, there's a high point in the book, in terms of Brynne and Devin trying to chart some sort of sexual release due to her past.
But still, not enough to recommend this book to anyone, soz.
These Prescott men are really one of a kind. Brynne and Devin really were soulmates. A tragedy bought joy into Brynne's life, and a chance encounter with her ex brought them back together again to finally solidify their family. These two had undeniable chemistry, and I really enjoyed how everything played out. I am glad that Bette Ford held the truth in for a while, it made the story even better. This is a great 2nd book in the Prescott trilogy.
I REALLY liked this book. It had some sensitive topics like rape, but her delivery of emotion on Brynne's part of that was a little awkward. Other than that I loved the story and would recommend it.
