I was given this book by the pastoral staff as a shot of adrenaline for the deacon ministry at our church. Specifically my deacon ministry. It is nearly 50 years old and still a valuable resource. It is however decidedly baptist. Though it never states it, this is written to baptists for baptists. The resources listed, the sources referenced, the reliance on Broadman (the SBC publishing) all show how deacon ministry should be done in the baptist church. Thankfully it is done without modernity and liberal theology affecting the deacon ministry.
