Here is the definitive work on the history, ritual and powers of the ancient art of Voodoo from the earliest times to the present, offering complete details on the closely kept secrets of man's most exotic and powerful form of magic. The author has stripped the shroud of secrecy that has always surrounded Voodoo, detailed instructions on everything from making voodoo dolls to casting hexes. 254 pages
I initially thought this was a history of Voodoo as a religion/spiritual practice. It is actually a handbook for practioners. It was interesting enough but I did skip through lists and veves. Great for those initiated, but for anyone who wants to simply learn about it, you'll be left wanting.
There's nothing complete about this book. It relies far too much on stereotypes and colonial voodoo-isms, than actual fact and history. There is some value to be had in this book, but the presumptuous name cheapens it.
