IN THE GLITTERING WORLD OF MOVIE MAKE BELIEVE--ONLY POWER AND PASSION ARE REAL...

When lovely, ambitious Jessica Marshall-White bought the rights to a promising unfinished novel, directing her own movie was merely a fantasy. Then suddenly the novel was a bestseller, and Jessica was partnered to the wealthy, powerful producer Pierson MaCaab. But Pierson brought more than just a chance to fulfill a life's dream. He lit a passion in her she had never known before--a passion challenged at every turn by the web of deception and betrayal that ensnared them.

And soon enough Jessica and Pierson would have to strike a bargain between high ambition and explosive love--a bargain destined to change their lives forever.

Do yourself a favor and turn the invitation down! The author could have had a good story if she hadn't decided to make the h a self-centered bitch! The main character has to be likeable, and she was anything but! She hates the H, she hates her father, she hated her mother, she hates everyone who doesn't dance to her self-centered tune, and I got sick of it before I was even a third through the book!

What did it for me was the crappy way she treated the H, who she was so hot for she got naked with him practically at first sight, then kept at a distance because he threatened her independence! She played games with the guy, getting close, then backing off, thinking of her own feelings while ignoring his. She drags him to a party he had no interest in going to, so she could try and get backing for the book she's obsessed with to become a movie that she can direct, which has become an obsession with her. She then ignores him the whole time they're there while she talks to more important people. When she finds out the H's company is making the film, and they hired her ex as director (the H tried to tell her before, but she never gave him the chance) she has a real hissy fit, starts throwing things at him, declares she hates him and actually says he used her body like a man whore! Meanwhile, she got naked with him before she officially broke up with her ex (who was the director she'd been working with), so who's the real whore???

On and on it goes, all about HER, and her sickening self-worship!

I guess some people would call her character a "boss bitch" but to me, she was just a plain bitch!

There were some good secondary characters, but when you don't like the main one the book becomes a
