"Be careful, Amelia -- you know how reckless you can be!" -- Mrs. Charlotte Harris, headmistress

Lady Amelia Plume has many admirers -- it's too bad they're all fortune hunters and fops who can't provide the exotic adventures she seeks.

But the ballrooms of Mayfair have become much more appealing since the arrival of Major Lucas Winter, an American with a dark past and a dangerous air. Lucas is brash, arrogant -- and scandalously tempting.

Every thrilling kiss sparks hotter desire, yet Amelia suspects that Lucas has a hidden motive in wooing her. And she intends to discover it, by any means necessary

Never Seduce a Scoundrel was a cute, witty read. I am newer to Sabrina Jeffries. Having only read Hellions of Halstead Hall series last week, but so far I am really loving her writing style. When I finished Hellions of Halstead Hall series I still wanted to live in this world. So I of course went straight to goodreads and found this series. Which actually happens before Hellions of Halstead Hall, but it's all good. I really liked Amelia and Lucas and thought they made a cute couple. So far every book I have read from Sabrina Jeffries has been, romance, cute, and funny. I really liked Charlott the schoolmistress and I hope she also gets her own book. Next book up is Louisa North!

Never Seduce a Scoundrel was an enjoyable read. The pacing was a little too fast for my liking but the romance was pretty hot. I loved the witty banter and that the heroine was smart enough to put the hero in his place!

Pure brain candy
I read this series ages ago and didn’t remember much about it except that it made me happy. I can confirm on reread that it still makes me happy. It’s pure fluffy escapism, slightly silly but still mostly historically accurate, the heroine was strong and feisty and the hero a bit of an ass. But that’s really the point of these. The hero learns and grows because of his independent and strong love interest. These do follow a formula but that formula works. It’s a light read with some action and adventure, an entertaining plot and plenty of spice and a nice epilogue showing the characters’ happy ending. This is a great series and quintessential Sabrina Jeffries. I wish she could get back to this, as her new stuff is very meh. This is a good series for those new to historical romance, to dip a toe in. This is not a bodice ripper and has some familiar contemporary elements without being too anachronistic. I’m going to continue rereading this series as it got me out of the beginning of the book blahs, where everything was boring me. Hopefully my memory is just as faulty with the rest so I can enjoy them as if for the first time.

I don't know what to say about Never Seduce a Scoundrel. Sigh. "Wrong"--well, that's probably the right word to describe it. This book just seemed wrong to me. I didn't like Amelia and Lucas, at all. Amelia was too reckless--and too stupid--for her own good. She didn't have a sensible bone in her body, even though she was supposed to be intelligent. Her curiosity and desire for "adventure" bordered on stupidity and I positively cringed every time she took unnecessary risks with her reputation. Egad, did she even have a brain in that pretty little head of hers? For example, why would she offer to deliver Sarah's letter when she could ruin herself doing so? God, she hated the odious woman!
description

And Lucas was such a flat character. I didn't find him funny, or witty, or charming. He was just a bore.

While I applaud this book for its blush-worthy love scenes, I wasn't convinced that Amelia and Lucas' relationship constituted a happily ever after. It was built on lust, and lacked a stronger foundation. And, well, I couldn't really bring myself to care. I just wanted to be done with this book so that I could move on with my life.

2 Estrellas.

Major Lucas Winter is on the hunt for a woman (in a non-boner fashion) when he runs into Lady Amelia Plume who is on the hunt for adventure (boners optional). Realizing the Major is potentially trying to track down her mysterious stepmother, Amelia attempts to flirt information out him him; he attempts to naked information out of her. And thus the fertile ground for FEELINGS.

1. WITHIN 24 HOURS OF MEETING HER, LUCAS HAS AMELIA TOPLESS AND MANUALLY STIMULATED ON AN ALLEGEDLY ABANDONED/CAPTURED FRENCH SHIP IN A LONDON HARBOR.

2. HOW DO CLOTHES WORK??? HOW DO CORSETS WORK? HOW DO FEELINGS WORK? NONE OF THIS MAKES ANY SENSE.

3. I'm not usually too critical of compressed timelines because the path to true love is occasionally a highway, but this felt like Autobahn levels of intense. And if even I notice it, you know there's a problem.

4. Overall, the whole thing just felt very shallow?? Like, Amelia likes adventure and is English! Lucas is bent on revenge and is...AMERICAN. And Lucas had this very alpha-male your-body-is-my-booty type nonsense going on: Amelia rallies against it a bit, but it's never directly addressed and so underlies the text in a kind of bothersome way. (For example: she is kidnapped by A Villain and drugged and taken nearly all the way to Scotland. Except then Lucas marries her because she's his territory, damnit! NO POACHING DUDES. So her choices are these: marry the Villain; marry Lucas; return home ruined and a walking scandal. She chooses marry Lucas out of a hand of shitty options. And that forced decision is only really brought up again...by AMELIA...who's concerned that LUCAS WAS FORCED INTO MARRIAGE. I JUST CAN'T.)

GIVE YOUR LADIES SOME AGENCY. GIVE YOUR HEROINES THE SPACE TO MAKE DECISIONS. STOP GIVING THEM HEROES WHO BADGER AND SNARL AND ENFORCE THEIR WANTS AND WISHES ON THEM.

5. Mrs. Harris is literally the worst chaperone in the history of chaperones who ever chaperoned. And the letters between her and her """"Cousin"""" were just hilariously and unnecessarily chummy.

Enjoyed this. Interesting storyline here, but I thought that the romance came off a bit dated. And for some reason, I had a hard time falling for the hero. He was a tortured soul, no doubt he went through some horrific events, but I just couldn't see how with all of his issues, he could overcome them enough to fall for our heroine. I felt that there was too much resentment, all the way to the end. She was just the means to scratch an itch, I don't see how he could have formed a deeper connection with her. And as for her... being a so-called innocent English Lady, she sure was accommodating to his advances.

I did enjoy the book though. And I would like to read more by this author, as this was my first.

In Never Seduce a Scoundrel, Lady Amelia Plume is in her second season with no prospects in sight. And she rather likes it that way. As a graduate of the well known 'School for Heiresses' as it's called, she's well aware of what many fortune hunting gentlemen are really after so she's hesitant to marry. But in comes walking American soldier Major Lucas Winter. They are suddenly alone together by accident while Amelia is delivering a note on a dare. She's come across some papers in Major Winter's room that suggest that he's actually in England to investigate Amelia's stepmother. Their lives get further entangled as Amelia pretends to be a brainless English flower to entice Major Winters into revealing his intent. But Major Winters knows who Amelia is and pretends to seduce her as well, hoping she'll spill information to him. But desire is a funny thing as their pretend attractions bloom into something real.

I would really say this book was more of a 3.5 star rating. There are definitely some good things in this book. I thought it was nice in that a lot of history was put into the book and the dialogue. I felt like I actually learned a little bit while reading this book. The characters aren't two dimensional and Amelia came across as intelligent, if not a bit silly at times about her love of adventure. The plot even had a little bit of mystery and substance to it.
But on the other hand, as much as the book is well written I just didn't totally love it. It kept me interested but I also felt like there wasn't anything about it that really stuck with me either.
Anyways in the end it's a pretty good romance novel. It's writing and interesting plot gives it an edge over other romance novels I've read and I'd probably read more by the author. So in the end I rounded up the rating to a 4 but it definitely could have been a little better.

Notes:

-An American hero who was in the military, Major Lucas ...something, already forgotten his last name. I believe it was the American Revolution. I was impressed that Justine Eyre (narrator) gave him an American accent and was able to keep it for the entire audiobook. 👏

-He's investigating the heroine's stepmother. I like that I didn't really know if she was guilty or not, but as I got closer to the end, I could only conclude that she was innocent of any crime.

-Amelia, our heroine, yearns for adventure and, boy, does she get some!
1. She’s introduced to pleasure by Lucas on a pirate ship that they were touring.
2. She’s kidnapped and drugged by an older unwanted suitor to force into marrying him in Gretna Green.
3. Lucas rescues her just in time and saves her reputation by marrying her in Gretna Green.
4. On their way back to London, they’re kidnapped by the Scottish Scourge and his men. They mainly wanted Amelia since her friend’s father is the Scot’s enemy and they wanted to ransom her. Can’t wait to reread his book.
5. They escape and hide inside a priest hole. Lucas gets triggered and she helps get his mind off of that traumatic event by giving him a bj. They proceed to have sex up against the wall.
6. They make it back to London, where the last 20% solved the mystery.

-Earlier, the unwanted suitor sits in his carriage during calling hours to intimidate other men from courting the heroine. Lucas promises not to confront him so what does he do instead? He sits on the front steps of the heroine’s home, polishing his knife one day, his gun the next day. 🤭

Lady Amelia yg super kepo memergoki kamar Mayor Lucas Winter, prajurit angkatan Laut AS, sedang mengincar ibu tirinya sbg tersangka dan partner penggelapan uang. Lucas jg mencurigai Amelia hanyalah gadis yg berpura-pura dungu yg berusaha memikat hatinya, tetapi malah terjerumus pd berbagai petualangan termasuk ranah seksual yg masih sangat asing bagi Amelia yg selalu serba pengen tau.

Deskripsi ceritanya RUAAAARRRR BIASA.

Lady Amelia is tired of the same old, boring balls and affairs in Mayfair and is desperately longing for adventure. On assignment in England with the United States Marine Guard, Major Lucas Winter arrives and Amelia finally gets her chance for some adventure.

I really enjoyed this book. Lucas was a "major" stud muffin! Amelia had a way of getting herself into some interesting situations, coming by it naturally because of her adventure-seeking personality!

My favorite part of the book was when Lucas became a true hero to Amelia and rescued her from ruin, it was very sweet and romantic!!

I also liked how there was some real history in this book. The character Lucas was fictional of course, but he took part in some very real battles in our history. It was very interesting and I had to put the book down to look up more info on the internet about the massacre at Dartmoor Prison and the March on Derna. So you can't say that historical romance is all fluff, you can actually learn things about history!

Great book, recommend to all my friends!! 5 STARS!!!

Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a nice historical romance? I was looking forward towards starting a new series but this wasn't what I was expecting. I found the characters Lady Amelia Plume and Major Lucas Winters to be an odd match. The development of the characters themselves seemed hurried resulting in rather a two dimensional lack luster characters. You sort of saw who they were, but the concern and care for them as I went through the book just wasn't there. There seemed to be such little romance between the characters that the discovery of love between the two just seemed rushed and phony. The plot line was okay--typical American spy searches for a man that not only hurt the American navy, but affected his family as well. When his lead points him to the Plume family, he uses Amelia through a fake courtship to further his investigation.

Amelia is bored with English society and seeks adventure where there is none to be had. On a dare, she attempts to sneak a letter from one friend to her secret beau, she finds herself in the wrong room, Major Winters in fact. While curiosity gets the better of her, she learns of his investigation that (in looking through his papers) may involve her stepmother.

A kidnapping, a Gretna Green marriage, trouble in paradise, fighting, making up, separation and then redemption as demons are laid to rest finally closes out the book.

I admit it, it wasn't so bad that I won't try the next in the series, but if the series doesn't hold up, book 2 is where I'll stop.

not:
3:mutlaka okuyun derim:)

I enjoyed this one when I read it way back when! Thought it had plausible plotting, a hawt slightly tortured hero and an intelligent heroine.

I glanced through the reviews over at Amazon and it seems the complaints from the majority of those who left negative reviews were that the sex was to much like porn. Not so. (They obviously don’t read much out of the Historical sub-genre of Romance!) I thought the sex scenes were indeed spicy and more graphic then your average historical, but done tastefully. (LOVED the priest hole scene!)

I'll give that the last major sex scene was a bit wince-worthy in that when Lucas attempted to assert his dominance, he did so by subjugation and some people do find that uncomfortable. BUT that scene seemed more about the heroine and the working out of the dynamics of their relationship then about the actual act of sex, and, in the end, he wasn’t subjugating no one! Amelia is a strong heroine, considering the setting, and a smart one too!

My one gripe is that it seemed a tad immature to this jaded reader, despite the spicy sex. Which is why, I believe, this book will appeal to those new to the genre- the younger readers. Nevertheless, if you've been reading historical romance for years like I have, NSAS could be right up your ally, simply because it breathes a bit of fresh air into a genre that is leaning toward stale for many of us.

American Major Lucas Winter is in London posing as a diplomat. He is actually in England searching for Theodore Frier who stole money from the American Government. Lucas believes he has tracked down Theodore's wife, Dorothy, to a home in London. Now he must romance Lady Amelia Plume in order to get closer to her stepmother Dorothy. Amelia is bored with all of the balls and the fortune hunters who want to marry her. She stumbles upon Lucas' notes about this search for her stepmother. Pretending to be a brainless heiress, Amelia agrees to let Lucas court her in order to find out why he is looking for Dorothy.

This is a strong start to Sabrina Jeffries School for Heiresses series. The characters are well drawn and the chemistry between Amelia and Lucas is tangible. Lucas dislikes Americans after his stint as a prisoner of war. He wants to find Theodore Frier and won't let Amelia stand in his way. Amelia is seeking adventure and Lucas promises to show her many kinds of adventure.

There are little notes at the beginning of each chapter from the schoolmistress Charlotte Harris and her late husband's cousin Michael. They have been corresponding for years but have never actually met. I look forward to seeing more of Charlotte and Michael has her School for Heiresses graduates each get their own story. My rating: 5 Stars.

How enjoyable this was!!! I loved Amelia and all her adventuresome ways. Lucas was a strong and protective hero, although he was definitely way too prideful. That was annoying. But still, he was honorable, Amelia was clever, and they made such a great pair! I loved how he was American, I don't know that I've read a historical with an English heroine and an American hero before this one. I liked it a lot. The story was intriguing too, though I did guess some things about why Lucas was after the person he was looking for. I liked that Amelia knew exactly what he was up to and that there was no unnecessary drama or angst because of his deception. Also, the chemistry in this story was very, very well-done. My overall dislikes are that the hero was sometimes way too proud, I guessed parts of why the hero was after the person he was looking for, and a lot of things happened near the end of the story to draw it out. For example, there was a kidnapping that I know is probably going to come up in later books of the series, but it just felt out of place. Still, this is my second book by this author, but it certainly won't be my last. In fact, I think I'll be looking for which book of hers I want to read next.

My heart is full when I finished reading..for me this was a perfect book gave you all the feel❤️ from I started to read until I finished there were no moments I dislike. I love the Hero and Heroine so much.. They were made for each other. Their chemistry was off the chart and when these two flirted.. Goshh! made me swoon and root for them. SJ writing was so delightful to read. The characters, the plot, the love scene, the witty and flirty banter was so good. Now I want to read all of her's.

Londen , 1818 .

Epsilon’a nasıl diş bilediğimi biliyorsunuz zaten o yüzden çok uzatmayacağım.
Sadece hak etmiyorlar.
