This is a decent set. This is very good for the beginner. Someone who has been reading tarot for awhile might find it useless or a bit boring. The deck is ok. This is really just a good thing for a beginner or a tarot collector.

There is an accompanying CD to this, which I did not have, so the book's info is scant. However, still interesting. I am guessing from the symbolism (king/queen/wand/sword) that tarot divination came into vogue somewhere in the medieval era. The Celtic placement diagram is cool, but without explanation seems like a wholly contrived configuration :) And last but not least, tarot cards seem useful only to those people who don't fully understand how the universe works: that your most dominant inner thoughts manifest in your outer reality. In other words, most issues can be resolved just by looking inside oneself clearly. Since 99% of people today have fairly muddled thinking - and in the Middle Ages lived in a world of magic & superstition - I can understand why this medium would be both useful and attractive in elucidating a life event.

Zerner/Farber can improving the book's overall quality (adding richness) in 3 ways :
1. History on each symbol, and more detail about the many sub-symbols on each card.
2. Explanations of differences (if any) in between tarot reading done by gypsies vs. other groups
3. A section geared toward what clients can avoid viz. scam artists, or what to look for in a highly-experienced practitioner
