Such Creatures portrays Judith Thompson's raw style of storytelling and showcases her incessant quest to understand the dark, neglected, and troubling corners of society. Both unbelievably cruel and unbelievably human, Such Creatures is an awe-inspiring portrayal of the breadth of the human spirit.
A lovely monologue play featuring two strong female characters in very different worlds, fighting tooth and nail to survive. I really enjoyed the characterizations, the plot arc and the juxtaposition of the perils of a concentration camp and cancer to the perils of high school and being a minority. Writing a clinic on character, Judith Thompson has done it again.
I love so much about this play. The characters, the juxtaposition of a violent history onto a violent present. The way the momentum builds, the deep and rich images that connect the two stories. I hope there will be a remount soon, I would love to see it on stage. I wish I could have seen It under the direction of Brian Quirt. Brilliant.
