This short but sweet novella gives an insight on how Della felt during being turned. In all honesty it sounds like a horrific experience and quite scary. Loved the fact that even though Della has just been through a living hell she remains stubborn and stands for what she thinks is right which is a good thing else she'd never have become best friends with Kylie and Miranda :)

I love the prestories of the books I’m reading. Little stories with backgrounds of various characters. The 0.? of whatever series I’m reading. You know what I mean?
This one is about Della the vampire who becomes Kylie’s friend. We get to learn about her becoming a vampire and what the different brain patterns look like. Very cool!

In Born at Midnight we meet Della Tsang, Kylie Galen’s vampire roommate at Shadow Falls camp. But Della wasn’t always a vampire. This is her story.

***

Turned at Dark is a quick, fun and at times humorous short story about how Della became a vampire and how she ended up at Shadow Falls. It is a prequel to the full length book, Born at Midnight, which will be releasing in two weeks.

This is a great way to introduce this new series, get a feel for the author’s writing style and meet one of the more interesting characters from Born at Midnight. And it will give readers the opportunity to learn a little more about Della and why she acts as she does.

As this is releasing prior to the first book, it can obviously be read without having read Born at Midnight, although I’m glad I read it afterward. I already liked Della – she is one of my favorite characters – and was therefore much more interested in hearing about her transformation than I might have been had I not previously been introduced.

The Turned at Dark eBook includes a sneak peek of Born at Midnight.

Having already read and quite enjoyed Born at Midnight, the first book in the Shadow Falls series, I thought I knew what I was getting into when I started Turned at Dark, a prequel short story to the Shadow Falls series. But really I had no idea.

Turned at Dark tells the story of Della and her transformation from Asian American teen, under a tremendous amount of pressure from her pride-stricken father to bloodsucking vampire. I really enjoyed the realistic issues Della faced before her transformation, and loved reading about her change.

Turned at Dark is a must-read for fans of the Shadow Falls world, or for those who are hesitant to give it a try. But be warned, though this story is just a few chapters long, C.C. Hunter knows how to pack a punch.

As you may know from reading Born at Midnight, the first book of the Shadow Falls series, Della Tsang is Kylie Galen's Vampire friend. Here, we learn how Della was turned into a vampire and how she came about Shadow Falls. We also go into a bit more depth of Della's life before Shadow Falls and a brief history about Supernaturals. Warning though: like Forgotten Lyrics by Amanda Hocking (which I'm currently reading), it's a quick read. Actually, even more quick since it's only 32 pages long.

To be frank, I don't think I was expecting Vampirism to be a virus. I was expecting Della to get bitten by an actual vampire when I first met her in Born at Midnight. And was I so very very wrong at that assumption. The fact that Della had a Vampire virus in her blood was an unexpected twist in the series.

If I were Della's shoes, I probably would've reacted the same way as she did if I found out that *insert spoiler* wasn't actually dead and I was carrying a virus that could turn me into a vampire (It might even be cool). And that the fact blood will taste yummy. o_o

As for Della's issues in real life, I can totally compare my own life to her life. High expectations? yep. Sometimes too high? yep! Super harsh? Harsh, yes, but not like Della's parents in a way. Therefore, Della is now one of my favorite characters from Shadow Falls. Don't worry, there's plenty of room for the rest of them as well. Della just has that "twin-like" quality. :)

Overall, I love the humor that Hunter has woven into this story and find that Turned at Dark is a great prequel to Born at Midnight. It's not necessary to read Born at Midnight first, but if you want to, feel free to do so. I actually enjoyed the series and the shortstory. :)

This a short story in the world of Born at Midnight.

We follow Della Tsang through her transformation into a vampire and her introduction to the worlds darkest creatures. Werewolfs, faes, shape-shifters, vampires, they are all there. The story was short and simple and after it I started reading the first few chapters of Born at Midnight, only to realise that the fear I had was true.

These series isn't really for me. Maybe in the future I'll give it a shot, but not now...

This is a introduction to the main character background. What she is and how she became the supernatural being.

I hope the serie is better that this. I didn't feel connected to the characters.

I really like how this book tells the story of how Della became a vampire. I really felt bad for Della when she faced all the hardships. I thought that this story was sweet and that it really explained Della's previous life.

I'm not a fan of novellas, of 0.anything really, and this was no exception.

Della Tsang sure is intriguing enough to have her own story, but this felt very rushed and lacked any sort of depth (the Lee scene was very lacklustre)

Shadow Falls is a camp for teenagers who are special. They house vampires, werewolves, fae, shapeshifters and witches. Side by side they learn about their abilities, how to control their magic and how to live in the normal world. Della never believed in a world such as this one, but that all changes when she sees her dead cousin walking into a dark alley. She follows him and hurts herself when she's jumped by a pack of werewolves. Her open wound is what causes a virus to become active and Della turns into a vampire. Her cousin helps her through this transition and Della has to accept that her life will never be the same again. Will she believe everything her cousin is telling her or will Della listen to the voice inside her head?

Turned at Dark is a short story that is part of the Shadow Falls series. Della has always been controlled by her father's pride. He wants his family to live in perfection and now that Della is doing things she's never done before he's having a hard time coping with her behaviour. Della is a sweet young girl who loves her parents and her younger sister very much. It's heartbreaking when she finds out that she needs help if she wants to stay in her family's life. I was captivated by her story from the start. C.C. Hunter knows how to keep you glued to the pages with her mesmerizing stories. I've read the complete Shadow Falls series and I loved every single one of them. This bonus short story reminded me of how much I enjoyed this addictive series and I'm literally itching to start reading it again.

Please, dear Lord, let the first book of this series be as good as this prequel novella was. Let the supernatural elements continue to flourish and have the characters be able to fully develop. Make the story interesting and have the settings put me in the mood, like I'm in the novel myself. Amen.

I think it was good to read this short story, because now I feel I can understand much better the Della's behavior ,at first she seemed somewhat irritating, but after seeing what happened to her I can sympathize more with the character :)

3.5 It was good seeing where Della came from before Born At Midnight happened. I can see where she gets her pride from. It was a quick read, but it was a little fast at the end. Not too much info, just a quick insight into Della's past.

Note: Born at Midnight is an amazing book (5 stars)! Definitely a must read if you love this short story and worth a peek even if you only just like it! C.C. Hunter does a great job writing these books, you care what happens to these characters. I highly recommend all in the Shadow Falls series.

Turned at Dark is a short novella/prequel to the exciting Shadow Falls series. It’s about 32 pages so I don’t want to give too much away. This novella is the story of how Della went from carrier to vampire in one wild night. She encounters someone she thought was dead who changes her life unintentionally turning her into a vampire. She will be forced to choose between faking her death or heading off to Shadow Falls. The choice is up to her and she’s running out of time.

I actually read the first book before reading the novella so I already liked Della. It was interesting to read about Della’s story. She’s easy to connect with and you can’t help cheering her on as she handles becoming a vampire. She deals with it better than I would, because I’d be freaking out. I like the concept for the supernatural community they are hidden but the students attend a supernatural school, and learn to live with the non-supernatural. It’s a captivating quick read. I wasn't able to put down. I also think the idea of being able to read brainwaves is really clever. This series has a lot of promise and I plan to read the rest this month.

Turned at Dark is a novella for the Shadow Falls Series. Last week I gave you a bit of insight to Kylie’s friend, Della. Well this is all about Della!

Della is such a character. The moment I read about her in Born at Midnight, I knew I’d enjoy her. So when I found out she had her own novella, I couldn’t wait to read it.

Della is the resident vampire at Shadow Falls summer camp and like others. She’s learning where she fits into the world now that she’s been turned. Now Della wasn’t bitten, so there is none of that super sneaky vampire stalking going on. With Hunter’s book, vampires are born with the virus and it can only be activated by another vamp but I will keep how it gets activated a secret!

I really hope you enjoy Della as much as I did. She’s a very spunky character who is truly a devoted person. I look forward to learning more about her in future books.

Della thinks she sees her dead cousin run into an alley. Rather than run the other way, she investigates. What investigation ever had a good ending that began with the sighting of a supposedly dead relative running into a dark alley? Exactly. Now Della has big problems.

I liked this short story. It was a fresh take on the genre. I liked the inner turmoil of Della's character. Finally someone who doesn't see the glamour of vampires. There was a lot of character development packed into this short story without it being overwhelming. I felt I really got to know Della and I cared what happened to her.

The author's style is easy to get lost in and just enjoy the story. I recommend this short story and will be looking for more from this author and what happens next for Della.

That was a short story about Della Tsang, a normal girl who was turned to a vampire and introduced to a world that she never know it's exists. Nothing special about her before her cousin's dead: she had a human boyfriend and a severe father. But after two years from the moment when she saw her cousin's grave covering with soil, she saw his shadow after the corner. She was bleeding when met him - and that wasn't a good point.
It was awesome to see the world through Della's eyes - the human Della, who didn't have vampires' super-powers.
This is Della Tsang before Kylie. Before the Shadow Falls Camp. Before the blood need.

Great story, I feel bad for Della, this is tough on her, being turned into a vampire, having her strict family believing she's doing drugs. But there's hope because she's going to to Shadow Falls!

*First read July 17th, 2014*
Oh, what a great short story set before Born at Midnight, about how Della is turned into a vampire, and how her dad has his pride, the only thing he loves more is his wife, Della's mom. A great story!

This is a short story from the Shadow Falls series.
This gives the expanded background story on Della, and how she ended up at the camp. It's nothing vital, considering she explains what happened to her in the first book. However, it was short and free. So, definitely not a bad thing if you want to kill ten minutes.
