Intensely honest, touching accounts of women living in a world hostile to them. A great selection: contributors include women of colour and LGBT+ individuals. It's an intersectional feminism-friendly book.

A valuable, highly-accessible resource for anyone wanting to learn about the different ways in which women are oppressed and traumatised by institutional and individual forces in modern societies. However, this book is not voyeuristic torture porn. The contributors share their life stories on their terms and also, how they preserve their self-respect and their dignity in oppressive conditions.
