This book is brilliant and I really loved reading it! The magic tricks are so clever and I love how Flick and Charlie work together to solve the clues. The talking lift is very funny - I wish I had one in my house! The book is also really clever because there are lots of mysteries to solve all at the same time and the ending was amazing!! It’s also really good that Flick has a disability but this doesn’t stop her from being determined and a great role model. I’m going to recommend this book to all my friends because I think it’s fun, exciting and of course magical!!

I found the book a bit difficult to follow, probably because I have not read the first book before this one. The writing is good though. I really would have loved to give it a higher rating but this is one of those that I am really not keen on.

After such an amazing first book I was beyond excited for the sequel. Sadly I was just under-whelmed.

Filled with clever twists and turns and unlikely scenarios, this is a story that grips your imagination and really makes you think. As it lays bare some of the most puzzling magical illusions, it creates a rocket-ride of a mystery oozing with danger that ripples with a sinister historical secret that Flick and her friend Charlie must unravel if she’s ever to see her father again. But there’s much more at stake than a much-longed-for family reunion. Flick is a great character; determined, intelligent, strong-willed and resourceful. But she needs her friends and depending on them isn’t always easy, especially since, in this book, their loyalty to her are called into question. As the mystery unfolds, it will take more than a few magic tricks to see Flick through. Compelling, full of drama and absolutely fascinating; a very fitting sequel to its’ predecessor, The Great Fox Hunt.
