Battiato's songs contain esoteric, philosophical and religious themes, and have spanned genres such as experimental pop, electronic music, progressive rock, and new wave.
He is one of the most popular cantautori in Italy. His unique sound, song-crafting and especially his lyrics, often containing deeply philosophical, religious, and culturally exotic/esoteric references, as well as tackling or painting universal themes about the human condition earned him a unique spot on Italy's music scene, and the nickname of "Il Maestro" ("The Master" or "The Teacher").
He often collaborated with various artists, philosopher and intellectuals as Alejandro Jodorowsky, Manlio Sgalambro, Fleur Jaeggy, Lucio Dalla, Lino Capra Vaccina and many others.
Battiato is vegetarian and a follower of G.I. Gurdjieff's ideas.

Only by thinking to our own Death one can live a full Life. Only by remembering we are bound to die we can start living after we are born. Great reading full of inspiring concepts about life and death and their meanings.
