No secret society is more controversial than the Illuminati, yet almost nothing of the truth of this mysterious ancient Order is available in the public record. Propaganda, misinformation, disinformation, paranoia and downright fantasy are rife. Some have even described the Illuminati as pan-dimensional, shape-shifting Reptilians from another world!
two stars - pretentious, and heavily opinionated... you can find ALL the information in this book (what little there is) either in a self-help book (for "spirituality") or on a conspiracy nut's webpage (politics). the remainder 80% of the book is just biased, opinionated, spiteful rhetoric...
to summarize the essence of this book:
"i hate the current world order. do you hate the current world order? you should. here's a list of reasons why i think you should hate the current world order... and if you don't believe in me, then you're just one of them! you're just part of the problem! you don't want to be a problem do you?!"
- as an aquantance of mine once said, "it's amazing the ridiculous bullsh** you can make people believe in, all in the name of 'conspicuous altruism'"
this book WAS NOT, i repeat, WAS NOT written by the real Adam Weishaupt. it was written by someone using Weishaupt's name as a pseudonym. it feels as if it were written by some kid who figured out that he can make some easy money by writing an emotionally charged book centered around some common controversial themes, using a renown historical figure's name, and selling it to naive, paranoid conspiracy theorists... kind of ironic, don't you think? an anti-consumerist book making money through basic consumerism???
i initially bought this because i knew the basics of what the illuminati really was, and i wanted to read some REAL Weishaupt (not some pretentious poser). i was also getting tired of the pop-culture concept of the illuminati, and the way people use this (dead) secret society as THE SINGLE scapegoat/figure-head for any kind of corruption currently going on in the world... unfortunately, i didn't realize it wasn't the real author till after i paid. so i figured since i already bought it, i might as well read it... after several months of forcing myself through it i finally just finished it, and i think i can safely say that this is a huge waste of time... if you are truly interested in this topic, there are countless other (more informative/entertaining) books to read... i would recommend Principia Discordia, or maybe The Illuminatus Trilogy instead of this book. don't waste your time on this one. fair warning.
This is the first book in the Illuminati series by the ghostwriter who goes under the pseudonym of 'Adam Weishaupt'.
The book provides a solid albeit quite basic introduction to the Order of the Illuminati, however for those aho have followed Mike Hockney's book series and Michael Faust, Dr. Thomas Stark, Jack Tanner, David Sinclair and some other authors, they can dig much more information about this particular ancient secret society.
While many things require you to either accept or discard since its personal secret history of the secret society that no one other than those inside the order can know, it is still a very interesting and fascinating explanation.
The political and religious stances are part of the methods of actions of the order and thus through the structuring of the book, present more dot connection to the order and their operations.
I already knew before reading this that it would be full of lies but I wanted to read it to see how they twisted it. I will say "they" are very good at how they have worded it but I see through all the BS? There maybe some truths in it but it is what I expected. I was going to give it nothing but I gave it a 1 for effort.
Creative blend of fact & fiction, making for an entertaining read. Obviously this book is not authored by Adam Weishaupt and therefore cheapened the experience for me a little.
