My first time reading the Rendell. Please consider the scene, 60s-70s. No internet or computer or whatnot. It's challenging I guess to write this book. But I love Wexford in the 4th story.

Inspector Wexford is a practical man and a keen eye for detail especially in the wee hours of the night, this is the time I think sleuths like ourselves wake and ponder those missing clues that need to come together, love human behavior, anything is possible, but seems Wexford is getting older but stil look forward to another novel, hate to see him retire for good.
