3 stars for mid-line contemporary romance from the Blaze series. It's a Harlequin, so it's very formulaic, and it's a Blaze, so the heat level is jalapeno.
A British ex-pat erotica author with a tepid sex life books herself a torrid Vegas vacation to get some hands-on experience and inspiration for her next novel. What she ends up finding is a New Mexico fire marshall assisting in the murder investigation of one of the Vegas resort guests. Their romance is clichéd but sweet. I particularly liked the way they teased each other about their cultures - she's a stiff lipped, upper crust royal and he's a Native American small town blue collar. But they work together well, and there were enough smile-worthy moments that I enjoyed. Well done.
Honestly, it's a Blaze title, it is exactly what I was looking for when selecting one of these books. Short, sweet romance, and lots of sexy scenes. If you're looking for a more sophisticated story a Blaze isn't it, but these sure are fun for a couple hour read.
But, no, between Misty's anime OC name and eyes, the cops letting a stranger look at their evidence because she's hot, and the amount of times Misty references non-white races as sexy (like her Native American Warrior Abduction package at the weird sex spa thing), I couldn't get into this.
After all the LI Romances, and authors like Kristan Higgins and Holly Jacobs....I found this (Harlequin), which I used to read all the time pretty cheesy.
