This book would have appealed to young teenagers and school children. Then I think the author got the inspiration to write this story just like how Hilary Mantel wrote about Thomas Cromwell. While the latter did a remarkable job, unfortunately, the former was a dull, monotonous piece of writing. Sorry to say but the author has very little creative writing skills as she keeps circling about the same ideas such as 'the fire' in Dora. What got my attention about this book was the concept of it about women fighting for their right to vote. But the author really did a poor job in bringing life, enthusiasm, excitement, and above all the thrill of such a promising story that every woman would be able to connect with. Disappointing.

This was a very interesting read and what a life women and girls went through back in 1907. This was the true story of the youngest Suffragette was sixteen years old , well as she said nearly seventeen. She went to London to match on Parliament to get the vote for women. She was arrested and put in prison, where she was subjected to a horrible time with lack of food, sleep and bullying.
This book highlights what the women would through for the vote..... A real look into history .

This book gives you an inside view of a young suffragette and makes you understand how hard for women this time period was and how mistreated they were.

The book's characters were really well-developed. I liked the way how Reid combined the actual story of the teenage suffragette, Dora Thewlis, along with many fictional, amazing details. Reid added extremely enriching facts about how Britain was like in the early 20th century; it was a place where men had multifarious rights while women had limited rights. Groups like the WSPU (Dora was a member), Women's Freedom League, and many others recruited suffragettes and lead protests against the Liberal Government of Britain to let women vote. The part where Reid exposed Dora's feelings about being sent to prison just for asking for voting rights was so vivid that it played like a movie in my mind. Reid used very easy-to-understand language, which makes this book a great read for younger readers. I really enjoyed learning a lot more about how women were brave to protest in front of the government for equal rights. This book displayed how society differentiates between males and females, a very pertinent issue, even now in many parts of the world.

Interesting storyline and concept but not executed as I would've preferred to see it.
