Tsujimura is an award-winning novelist, she is best known for her mystery and children novels. She studied at Chiba University and won the Naoki Prize in 2012 for Kagi no nai Yume wo Miru (I Saw a Dream Without a Key), and in 2018 she won the Japan Booksellers' Award for her novel Kagami no Kojo (Lonely Castle in the Mirror).

Honestly I don't know what to think. This book isn't so bad and the supernatural mystery does keep me gussing; but I feel like I had read the same story somewhere else before and it bothers me, so 2 stars only.

Fast paced and dreamy. Leaves you hanging for the second half.

Extremely slow and repetitive.
The watered down version of “the lonely castle in the mirror”, but it make sense since this is this author’s debut novel.
The fact that one of the characters has the same name as the author was weird. I wonder why she chose to name that character that.

Since this is the first half of the long book, I’m just gonna rate this the “average” 3 stars.
