This book was made up of short, first person stories of working women in the trades. Each story was just a few pages long. The list of the women and their occupation is below.
It was interesting to read, but became somewhat repetitive as well, as the stories are all very similar. Unfortunately, nearly all the women had to deal with way too many men who resented their presence on the job, union, company. These tales are primarily from the late 1970's to mid 1980's. It makes one wonder if things have changed much. Most of these jobs are likely still male dominated. Since women overall are in the workforce just as much as men these days, perhaps the sexism is not as pervasive. One can hope at least.
Would be nice to see an updated book like this, thirty years may make a difference. Again, one can hope.
