When the Diamond Brothers receive an invitation to a school reunion on a remote Scottish island, things seem to be looking up. But Nick's got a bad feeling, and it's not indigestion. And when he meets their fellow guests, the feeling only gets worse - especially when they start dying in ever more bizarre ways!

On 19 January 2011, the estate of Arthur Conan Doyle announced that Horowitz was to be the writer of a new Sherlock Holmes novel, the first such effort to receive an official endorsement from them and to be entitled the House of Silk.
Having listened to a few of the hilarious Diamond Brothers books before, This one is by far the most blood-curdling of all, as I listened to the book at night. Once again, the overwhelming shallowness of Nick's (the main character) older brother, Tim. There was a laugh-out-loud moment when Tim was protecting an ambassador. He thought there was a bomb in the car, so before the ambassador entered the vehicle, Tim hurled him out of the way, thinking he was a hero, but Tim had thrown the ambassador in front of a bus, and he had ended up in A&E!
This story is a horror and crime story. It's kind of related to a book Agatha Christie wrote (And then there were none) but it had it's own surprising twist in it. Nick and Tim diamond (2 detective brothers) including few other old school friends are invited to meet an old school friend of Tim's. Their friend, who is supposed to be a multi-millionaire (and lives on a lonely island), set's very cheap arrangements for their arrival. A dismantled boat-man leaves them alone on the island saying he will come back in a few days. The gang, in the mysterious circumstances, soon find the dead body of the multi-millionaire divided in half. What follows is murder, terrifying skull-like faces at the windows and complete chaos. Nick diamond finds a mysterious pattern in the murders though which start to make him think about the murderer's next move...
The most heart gripping and nail - biting story.Best for thriller- lovers! Both Tim & Nick Diamond, from the diamond brothers series ,come into a murdering world 🏴☠️when he is invited to crocodile island by a school friend. He noticed that several other friends from his school were invited too...🧥🏴☠️ If you like reading detective stories like Sherlock 🧥Holmes, then this suits you. It’s an easy read but quite a Long story. I like Nick as every story Nick comes to find the pattern of the problem while therefore the world’s worst private detective,🧥Tim,seems to be absent-minded. Readers who love action and thriller should go for this book.😁👍🧥🏴☠️
When Tim received an invitation to a reunion with old classmates, he didn't hesitate to go. Nick, Tim's little brother, went with him (there was no one else to take care of him).
Once they arrived at the island where the reunion would take place, strange things happend. One by one, the old classmates of Tim were murderd. But apart from them, there was no one on the island, or was there?
Tim, Nick and the other ones left, tried to find out who the murderer was.
This book has a lot in common with the book "And then there were none..." from Agatha Christie. However this is a horror story, this book has a touch of humor in it.
My adorable middle son, brought this book home from me from his school library - he had read it, and thought I might enjoy it, as he thought it was a similar genre to many of the detective type novels I read! A reversal of roles, as I am normally the one borrowing books for him. As far as teenage fiction goes, it is actually quite good. Tongue in cheek homage to books and characters like Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe. Certainly quite a body count, so probably not suitable for younger children.
This book is part of the Diamond Brothers series and focuses on the life of two brothers that set up their own detective agency. The books all have a similar plot, that focuses on a crime taking place and the two brothers are hired to solve it. There is no pre requisite required by the reader to read this book. Horowitz uses irony and humour to draw the reader into the plot. In true crime writing style there are plenty of red herrings to keep the reader interested and intrigued and even when you think you have figured out the culprit there are a few last minute surprises. This book is ideal for key stage two children as the main characters are a contradiction to what one may expect from traditional detectives that solve crimes. The plot is linear and allows the teacher to develop activities around the plot to engage the children's understanding and critical thinking. The language used by Horowitz can be challenging and may require some key terms to be explained to some children. However, overall this can provide teachers with the opportunity to stretch and challenge their more advanced reader’s skills.
A lot of murdering happens in this book as they go to an island for a old classmates school reunion, after receiving an invitation. It is clear by mid-book who's done it, but the "how" it was done will keep you reading till the end.
This was one of my favorites because of the mystery of who the killer really was. They thought one of them was the killer! I won't tell you who it was. My favorite part was every part!
So, my dear daughter got this book from the school library & liked it so much, & thus recommended it for me... I liked it too! I liked the author & think he's witty & funny.
I read this when I was 10 and again at 13 and 16. It always has me on the edge of my seat even though I know what's about to happen. Everyone should read this once in their life!
I read this book as one of my classes is studying it, a year 6 class. This book is a horror story about several people visiting an island as they think they are having a school reunion. However, this is not the case and over the few days they are there most of them get murdered but all in different ways which link to what prizes they won at school. For example, someone got stabbed by an Eiffel Tower model because they won the French prize and someone else got poisoned because they won the prize for Chemistry. The boy who tells the story is the one who works out who the murdered is due to him and his brother being the only two who weren't murdered. The murdered was another person from the school who came second in every prize meaning that he always missed out on coming first and so wanted revenge on all the other ex pupils. This book should be used with year 6 children as it deals with murders and so wouldn't be suitable for younger children. Once children have read it they could use the story to create their own murder mystery stories. They would also try and guess while reading the story who is the murder to make it more exciting. The story is book that you always want to read more because you don't find out who the murder is until right at the end of the book. It is a relatively short book meaning that it can be read relatively quickly and so a large amount of work can be based off it due to the book being completed. This book is also part of a series the Diamond Brothers meaning that the series could be read throughout the year and work could be done on each book as they are read.
Between 2 and 3 stars. Not enjoyable at all. Predictable, boring and unmemorable and without a shred of atmosphere surrounding it. Tim is a huge idiot who pretends to be a private investigator and tries to lighten the mood I guess. His brother, Nick is much smarter than his older brother and actually came to the conclusion of who killed all of Tim's friends. I don't regret not having read the previous 5 books in the series and I hardly knew this was the sixth one. The climax is also disappointing and the reason for conflict is ignorant, being second place for your entire life... I can hardly feel bad regarding the various deaths considering that not many details were shared regarding them and the pattern through which they were killed was very simple. They were killed in a fashion which mirrored the subjects Tim's friends came first in including Tim somehow as opposed to Captain Randle who always came second. This reunion was very silly in my opinion considering how in all fairness, the so called friends hated each other and had played nasty tricks on each other ten years prior. Randle was the killer and his name was an anagram to the captain he tried to portray in the beginning of the book. This felt as though it was a very cheap imitation of and then there were none by Agatha Christie not to mention that it's badly written in my opinion. Glad I finally got this off my chest as it was all I could think about as I was reading. Technology played a major role in this one somehow but it was written in a hurry and we only got to know in the final few pages. Worst book I've read this year by far. Horowitz is trying way too hard to come off as funny and that makes me cringe.
