No sé por qué.... pero es mi favorito de la saga, supongo que porque esta mujer me gusta por sus escenas picantes... y éste hay muchas jajaja
Relectura después de unos años. Quizás ahora le pondría 3 estrellas
Pero sé que ahora soy más estricta y casi le debería bajar una a todas mis lecturas antiguas
A ver es una lectura entretenida, con una relación que, pese a que esté basada en atracción física, también te transmite lo que cada uno ve en su pareja, y los motivos por los que termina enamorado de la otra persona. Puede parecer algo obvio, pero en muchas de mis lecturas habituales, no se transmite nada.
No es tan hot como lo recordaba, aunque me han hecho gracia esas escenas con el pirata (no desvelo para no spoilear) y todo lo que ello conlleva
Unos personajes con un pasado y una evolución y una trama que, sin tener grandes sobresaltos, tampoco faltan giros
Me ha gustado más de lo que esperaba pues pensaba que iba a ser mucho más trivial
De todas formas, admito que hay un par de frases que me han chirriado mucho, demasiado, no sé si por una mala traducción, no porque la palabra no pueda estar en el original, sino porque se haya interpretado mal el sentido
Vamos, que ha sido una experiencia mucho menos negativa de lo que me esperaba
Muy entretenida y, si queréis unas cuantas escenas hot en histórica, aquí las hay
Eso sí, sigo sin creerme a estas vírgenes tan buenas alumnas, es algo que nunca deja de sorprenderme en la romántica

Raven and Kell were a couple I really didn't like at first, and a lot of the tropes that powered the plot seemed either too familiar or too clumsy. But the longer I read the more I fell in love with this high powered family drama and Regency historical!
Initially I felt like Raven was just a watered down version of Kit Tyler in the classic YA novel The Witch of Blackbird Pond. Just like Kit, Raven is a stranger in civilized society after a carefree childhood swimming and sailing in the beautiful Caribbean. But beneath the exotic charm and unconscious allure Raven is actually very different. She's haunted by her illegitimate birth and desperate to marry into society. She's all set to wed a suitable lord when suddenly she's kidnapped by a drunken ruffian who imagines she's jilted him out of spite. And then to make things worse his older brother ends up taking her to bed to "protect" her from her own sexual desires!
Kell and his twisted little brother Sean really annoyed me at first too. I enjoy it when the heroine has a weak younger brother, because his weakness underlines her strength, and also can be used to push her into the hero's power. Many of my favorite romances begin with the heroine having to pay off a debt because her weak little brother stole something or broke a promise or just failed to respect the hero's authority!
So, okay, Kell's brother Sean is weak. But not a nice, familiar, kind of weak. There's some really sick and twisted stuff that goes on in the past of these characters, and the mood is unsettling. The two brothers have a relationship that's somewhere between Long Day's Journey Into Night and Frankenstein. Yet the more I read I found myself really caring about them.
So Raven is ruined by Sean and then married by Kell. That was pretty predictable. But I was really surprised by some of the great secondary plots and characters. I absolutely loved it when the duke Raven cruelly jilted ends up falling for the hostess at Kell's gambling den. And I loved how Raven's friends took control of getting Kell accepted in high society. Some of the fencing scenes and the pirate sex play felt a little too modern and a little too forced, but overall I really bought into Kell and Raven as a couple. I wish I was good with pasting in pictures to illustrate my reviews like some of my friends, because I kept picturing Raven as Julia Chatterley, the financial reporter on CNN. But that's just me!
Anyway, if it wasn't for the Corona pandemic, I would never have taken the time to read this, but I'm glad I did. Nicole Jordan is a great author and I look forward to reading more of her books!

Casi 4 estrellas.
Lo bueno:
-Una joven con deseos, que no dice: Oh, qué es eso! cuando tiene un orgasmo (a pesar de ser virgen)
-Muchas escenas tórridas excitantes.
-A pesar de ser larga y, a veces, repetitiva, la leí de un tirón.
-Ambos personajes bien construidos
Lo malo:
-El conflicto inicial: el rapto y la solución inicial (el casamiento) me resultó estrambótico y poco creíble. Hasta ridículo. Creo que los problemas con el hermano de Sean harían imposible cualquier tipo de solución que lleven a una relación sana entre Raven y Kell.
-Demasiado larga y repetitiva.
-Triste
Pero releeré las escenas hot para ponerme a tono.

This book was decent all around, but there were a few things that bothered me.
The good:
- The writing and characterization in general are solid. The plot also gets going right from the start, which was perfect because my brain was itching for some action.
- I love me a marriage of convenience, and I don't think I've seen a set up quite like this one before.
- The hero and heroine's emotional baggage is a matched set but it doesn't grate or feel too contrived.
- There's more romantic suspense than I was expecting, but it doesn't take over the whole storyline. The action is compartmentalized into certain sections and it worked well.
- The steamy parts are indeed steamy. Ooo.
The not-so-good:
- While there isn't a Big Misunderstanding, as it were, the hero and heroine are awful at communicating. They just refuse to talk to each other, sometimes for days or weeks at a time. 'I'm just doing what the other person wants', they each think, which isn't wrong... but isn't right, either. It's amazing what lengths they each self-sacrificed without being sure it was a fruitful thing to do.
- Because they don't talk we don't get to watch the couple's love grow very much.
- The heroine gets kidnapped. Several times. And the way people cover for her first kidnapping makes no sense to me. Why would the family say 'she's taken ill' instead of screaming, 'she's been kidnapped!' and running to the police? I mean, what were they doing the whole time she was gone, just hoping she would turn up safe and sound? My brain does not compute.
- While I can't pin it on any one thing in particular, I never quite connected with the time period.
A somewhat enjoyable enh, and it did read fast, but an enh all the same.

Kitapta ise iki yaralı kalbin birbirlerinden kaçınma çabaları ve başarısız oluşlarının meyvesi olan aşk konu alınıyor :)
Hikayeye Raven'ın Dük ile evleneceği gün istenmeyen bir talibi tarafından zorla kaçırılması ve Sean'ın abisinin yani Kell'in onu kardeşinin elinden kurtarmasıyla başlıyor. Raven bir Dük'ü mihrapta bıraktığı için dedikodular ayyuka çıkmış. Bu yüzden Raven'ın zor durumuna vicdanı el vermediğinden ve bu olaylarda suçlu kardeşi olduğundan ona evlenme teklif eder. Kısa sürede evlenirler. Evlilikleri ise bir düzmeceden ibarettir. Raven kalbini annesi gibi birine kaptırmaya niyetli değildir. Kell ise kardeşini baştan çıkaran bu kadınla evlendiği için ona yeterince ihanet ettiğini düşünüyor ve daha ileriye gitmeyi göze alamıyordur. Ama aralarında ki Sean gölgesi korkulu bir rüyaya dönüşecektir.

Hot! I loved this hot and sexy story. This book has almost everything, good sex, intrigue, love, and not forgetting that it is so very well written.

Serinin bence en güzel kitabı idi hem duygusallığı hem de tutku yogunluğu harikaydı..Kitabın sonuna doğru çok duygulandım gözyaşlarımı tutamadığım sahneleri oldu..
Romandaki aşk serinin diğer hikayeleri gibi yoğun tutku içeriyordu..Serinin ilk kitabı Ahlaksız Teklif sansürlü olduğu halde serinin en çok sevdiğim hikayesi olmuştu..Tutke Mevsimini ve Arzunun Kıyısında nu hikayeleri çok beğensemde nedense ilk kitap bende daha çok iz bıraktı derken gelelim Şehvetin Esiri (Ectasy)'ye..
Raven Nicholas Sabine'in üvey kızkardeşi idi..Annesinin evlilik dışı bir çocuğu idi Raven..Toplum tarafında dışlanmış olan annesini ailesi redetmişti adının temizlenmesi için istemediği evliliğe zorlanmış mutsuz bir kadındı..Tek dileği kızının kendisinin yaptığı hatalara düşmemesi soylu bir asilzade ile evlenmesi idi..Bu temenni onda takıntı haline gelmiş ölüm döşeğinde kızına yemin ettirmişti...
Raven'in çocukluğuda ruhunu yaralayan hatıralarla doluydu..Üvey babası yalnız olduklarında ona evlilik dışı olduğunu hissettirmek için aşağılayıp hor görüyordu..İşte bu yaşadıkları yüzünden Raven artık saygı görmek ve annesinin son arzusunu yerine getirmek için nişanlı bulunduğu Dük ile evlenmek üzereydi ve bu planların kimse tarafından bozulmasına izin vermeyecekti ama ona sapkınca aşık olan Sean Lesseter'i hesaba katmamıştı..Onu elde etmek isteyen Sean iyice azıtarak onu kaçırıp tacavüz etmek üzeryken ağabeyi Kell Lesseter tarafından durdurulur ama skandalın patlamasına engel olamaz..
Sean ve Kell İrlandalı bir annenin çocukları olup babaları öldükten sonra velayetleri zorla annalerinn elinden amcaları tarafından alınıp anneleri öldükten sonra da onlar üzerinde söz sahibi kişi olmuştur.. Ama macalarının acımasızlığı ve sapkınlığı özellikle Sean'ın ruhunda büyük yaralar açmıştır...
Kısaca hemRaven'in hem de Kell'in çocukluğu ruhlarında derin izler bırakacak şekilde geçmiştir..
Patlak veren bu skandaldan sonra Raven'in onuru ve namusu tamir edilemeyecek şekilde lekelenmiştir..Bunun üzerine Kell Raven'in onurunu kurtarmak için ona evlenme teklif eder..Bu görünüşte formalite evliliği olsada sonucunda tamamlanmsaı gereken bir evlliliktir..Raven'in seçim yapacak lüksü yoktur ama en büyük handikapi ise Kell'in hayallarinde aşık olup seviştiği korsan sevgilisine çok benzemesidir..
Bu romanın ortalarına kadar serinin diğer kitaplarına benzetsemde sonradan müthiş bir şekilde bu hikayeden zevk aldım..İki yaralı ruhun üzüntüleri,yalnızlıkları,bir çocuğun maruz kaldığı şiddete,cinsel istismar yüzünden ruhunun nasıl sakatlandığını yazar çok çarpıcı bir şekilde işlemişti..Bir ağabeyin kardeşini kurtarma çabaları kendini birine ait olam hissi mükemmeldi..Tek kelime ile serinin en güzel kitabıydı..Tavsiye ederim...

Bem no meio disto tudo fiquei a perceber que a mãe da Raven é que é a culpada de tudo. É a culpada de ela se ter contentado com um casamento sem amor antes de abrir os olhos para o mundo e é a culpada por a rapariga andar sempre num "ai jesus" devido ao kamasutra daquele século.

Si pero no. No he terminado de conectar con la historia, creo que por culpa de la protagonista, no me ha gustado la historia del hermano, y un final precipitado.

I loved everything about this story, especially the male protagonist. Kell is definitly how I always spect my pirate love be and I love how it is possible to measure his feelings and see and feel everything from his point of view. Raven is what is expected from her, but I think she is a little over the line with the whim of "I do not want to fall in love" but in the all context it is a story that you get like so much that you end up loving even to Halford´s pedantery.
Me encantó todo de esta historia, especialmente el protagonista masculino que está muy logrado. Kell es todo lo que una quisiera de un amante pirata y me encanta como es posible meterse en su cabeza y ver y sentir todo desde su punto de vista. Raven es lo que se espera de ella, pero creo que se le fue la mano con el capricho de "no me quiero enamorar" pero es una historia que pega tanto que terminas queriendo hasta al pedante de Halford.

Este foi o primeiro livro que li da autora e ainda me pergunto qual a razão deste atraso todo. É verdade que o seu nome não é uma novidade para mim, quantas foram as vezes que me avisaram acerca do talento da autora e naquilo que eu estava a perder. Infelizmente o tempo livre nem sempre ajuda e só agora tive oportunidade de ler uma das suas obras, que foi publicada neste mês de Janeiro de 2014.
A sinopse prometia um livro fantástico, cheio de aventuras, romance e sensualidade e o que encontrei…foi isso mesmo! Desde o início do livro que o protagonista masculino me tinha deixado fascinada. Kell Lasseter tinha algo nele que me fazia devorar cada página deste livro e cada acção sua fazia aumentar a minha curiosidade sobre aquilo que se ia passar a seguir. Ele mostrou ser um homem muito íntegro, que honrava as suas promessas e que se sacrificava por aqueles que amava. Ele ter-se apercebido dos seus sentimentos antes de Raven foi algo realmente excepcional. Esse foi um toque de originalidade imenso por parte da autora, pois normalmente é o contrário que acontece. Raven foi também uma personagem forte que, apesar de no inicio parecer um pouco snob, acabou por surpreender de uma forma muito positiva. Ao longo da história foi mostrando não ser uma rapariga fútil, que lutava por aquilo que realmente acreditava.
Ainda não li os outros livros desta serie, mas tenho o livro anterior aqui em casa. “Desejo” encontra-se alí na estante, à espera de ser lido brevemente e, espero que em breve a Quinta Essência nos traga o quinto livro. Não vou querer perder!

Ele ter-se apercebido dos seus sentimentos antes de Raven foi algo realmente excepcional. Esse foi um toque de originalidade imenso por parte da autora, pois normalmente é o contrário que acontece. Raven foi também uma personagem forte que, apesar de no inicio parecer um pouco snob, acabou por surpreender de uma forma muito positiva. Ao longo da história foi mostrando não ser uma rapariga fútil, que lutava por aquilo que realmente acreditava.
Ainda não li os outros livros desta serie, mas tenho o livro anterior aqui em casa. “Desejo” encontra-se alí na estante, à espera de ser lido brevemente e, espero que em breve a Quinta Essência nos traga o quinto livro. Não vou querer perder!

Predictably, both the heroine and hero resist falling in love and bed together once they become man and wife. Their reasoning is boring and the only interesting parts of the book were when the tortured younger brother, Sean Lasseter, was involved in the scene. Gotta feel bad for the Duke of Halford in this book, though, since this is the second young fiance he loses to another man in the Notorious series.

This book was so HOT, it borders on ridiculous! The chemistry between these two characters sizzles off the page. It was addictive. Jordan's best work (that I've read so far), though sometimes I doubt she can top this kind of romance novel perfection!!!

Raven Kendrick è una giovane donna bellissima, nata su un’isola caraibica ma di origini inglesi. Alla morte della madre decide di andare a vivere in Inghilterra e accalappiare un duca per adempiere al giuramento fattole in punto di morte. In realtà a Raven non interessa il bel mondo altolocato londinese, che la guarda di sottecchi e da cui deve fare ammenda per i peccati della madre fatti tempo addietro.
Il rigore che la spinge ad affrontare questa sfida ha motivazioni profonde e dolorose, legate al desiderio di essere accettata dal bel mondo. Ha giurato a se stessa di non innamorarsi mai, visto il dolore e le vicissitudini vissute dalla cara madre. Il suo appagamento non ha eguali, l’estasi che le procura il suo pirata immaginario che compare nei suoi sogni, è impareggiabile.
La pupilla della stagione, alla soglia delle nozze con un rigoroso Conte, ha finalmente raggiunto il suo obbiettivo e la cara e odiosa zia che la ospita, è finalmente fiera di questa nipote di cui non ha molta stima, a differenza del nonno materno che è un personaggio decisivo per l’autostima di Raven e che soddisfa il bisogno di affetto e amore che tanto le mancano.

Entra in gioco il tenebroso protagonista, nonché fratello maggiore del decelebrato.
Kell Lasseter è l’enigmatico e poco raccomandabile proprietario del “Vello d’oro”, la casa da gioco dove è rinchiusa Raven. Sarà lui a salvare la ragazza dalle grinfie del manesco fratello e a trovare una soluzione ragionevole per salvare il salvabile.
Il matrimonio si farà e non sarà certamente un Conte a sposare Raven Kendrick, bensì il fratello con la testa a posto e un fascino oscuro e pericoloso.
Cosa si cela dietro questa dinamica familiare è un’altra torbida e tortuosa storia. I due protagonisti hanno molto in comune ma sono feriti dagli avvenimenti della vita e dalle responsabilità, soprattutto morali.
La coppia è esplosiva, ben assortita e sotto il mirino della buona società.
Dire che mi è piaciuto è riduttivo, la trama è originale, ricca di colpi di scena e personaggi interessanti. Consiglio la lettura.

Nicole Jordan is one of my favorite historical romance authors therefore it pains me not to rate a 5 but it has to be done.
The plot seemed promising and the reason I read the book.
There were twists and turns which I enjoyed; I loved the antagonists: Sean - the younger brother as well as William - the treacherous uncle. They give the book some flavors.
I loved the heroine - although not at first, but perhaps that was the intent of the author altogether. She painted the heroine in such a way that she seemed flighty, careless and only cared about what society thought. However, deep down she was not at all what she portrayed herself to be. She's caring, she's true and honest, she's carrying a deep rooted shame due to her past.
The Hero ... I liked his physical attributes, his aloofness, his brooding nature and all that.
What I detest from the Hero was that he was too forgiving towards his brother. The fact that He chose to bury his younger brother's treacheries which was unimaginable. Not only once when I deducted 2 stars due to this.
However, having said that, the writing was impeccable. Loved the flow of the words. It was a lovely read, all in all.

Para mim foi o mais fraco de todos porque estava com altas expetativas para saber a história desta personagem. É uma boa história e que cativa imenso, só acho é que é muito grande para o pouco que aconteceu aqui. Ao contrário do livro anterior que tínhamos mais que um problema a ser resolvido, por isso o livro grande para mim foi perfeito porque deu para ambos os problemas serem resolvidos como deve ser, aqui havia apenas um problema e esse poderia ser resolvido facilmente desde o início.
Mas dou 3,5 estrelas porque é uma boa história que prendeu-me do início ao fim, só queria que fosse mais rápido.

Aunque lo empecé pensando que sería una historia emocionante resultó ser que para mí no. Los personajes son buenos, porque me gustan que sean fuertes y de que de su dolor nazcan sus demonios (cosa que pasa en las dos partes) pero no he conectado con la historia, con los avances, con las escenas de sexo gratuito, ni con el final tan precipitado, ni con la evolución de sus sentimientos, ni con el amor que se tienen, ... algo raro este libro para mí, porque sí pero no.

I have been reading Nicole Jordan’s books for about seven years and I have to say that in all that time, through countless new releases and reading her backlist, Ecstasy remains my favorite book of hers.
One of the biggest reasons that Ecstasy has remained my favorite Nicole Jordan book is because of the overwhelming passion between Kell Lasseter and Raven Kendrick. It’s impossible not to get swept up in their romance. Though their marriage starts off as one of convenience and honor, it grows into an uneasy friendship filled with sexual tension and dark secrets.
As the fourth book in the Notorious series, Ecstasy can be read as a stand alone (as all of Nicole's books can) without any fear of huge spoilers.
Raven, like her name, is a unique heroine in the series. After her mother's passing, Raven was sent to live with her grandfather and aunt who may have full filled their duty to her by providing her with every thing she needs to gain a titled husband, but failed her as a family. She's had to rely on only herself emotionally and mentally. As much as she wants to do right by her mother's memory and marry a title, circumstances not only prevent it, they throw her onto a completely opposite path. Raven has no one to confide in, no one to help her except for a groom that has no power in her social circles. Raven is a lonely girl who doesn't dream of prince charming and love but of safety and protection that she thinks can only be provided by a title. To comfort herself with the thought of a loveless marriage, she escapes into her fantasies where she can be loved passionately and without limits.
Kell Lasseter for all his faults is an honorable man at heart. He loves his dangerously flawed, unstable brother because he is all he has left in the world. Kell doesn't take his failures well and is overly harsh on himself when it comes to his brother. I loved the dark side of his nature as well as his compassionate, intelligent sides. He's an interesting character because he doesn't live his life for himself, he lives it for his brother but when Raven comes into the picture he is faced with a choice: Protect his brother and doom Raven to a lonely life, or protect Raven and loose his brother forever. Really, it's a situation in which Kell will emerge the loser no matter what choice he makes. It was interesting to see him struggle and come to terms with the fact that he cannot save every one and that the ultimate choice isn't always up to him.
Kell and Raven have an unbelievably passionate, actually it's more erotic, relationship. From the beginning they're drawn to each other despite the circumstances. There's one particular scene between Kell and Raven that involves role play that even now makes me turn on a fan just thinking about it. It's not just the sex scenes though, it's the foreplay, the tension, the verbal sparring and the angst ridden love growing between the two that makes Ecstasy such a hot read.
It's not all sexy romps and angsty mental discussions though. There's a real danger for Kell and Raven in the form of Kell's brother, Sean. He's a villain, but he's also a victim and as much as I wanted to hate Sean for all the damage he did, I felt so sorry for him. He's such a tortured character that at the end you just want him to find some kind of peace, no matter what it is and no matter what it costs Kell. You can't hate Sean but you can't love him either, you can only pity him and Kell.
Final Verdict: I loved every part of this book from start to finish, there's the required sexy couple and villain but Ecstasy is more than that, it's about a man who has lived his life for his brother, done every thing he could to protect his brother and yet still felt like he failed his brother because he fell in love with a very special woman. This was one of those books that I just couldn't put down and even now, remains one of my go to re-reads.

"O Êxtase" é o quarto livro da série "Notorious" da romancista Nicole Jordan, que nos chega, mais uma vez, pela chancela da Quinta Essência.
Tal como os seus antecessores, este livro poderá ser lido de forma independente,pois embora pertencendo todos à mesma série, as suas estórias não estão particularmente interligadas, mas mesmo assim, aconselho a leitura dos três anteriores para um conhecimento mais pormenorizado da protagonista feminina, Raven Kendrick.
Raven mudara-se das Caraíbas,onde vivera exilada com a mãe e o padrastro. No seu debute, a jovem causa sensação e consegue a atenção do duque de Halford e uma proposta de casamento do mesmo, conseguindo, assim, satisfazer a promessa que fizera à sua mãe moribunda: casar com o nobre, para que a sua condição de bastarda não seja impeditivo social, mesmo que descoberta pela alta sociedade britânica.
Acontece que, Sean Lasseter tem outros planos para a bela jovem de cabelo cor de corvo e olhos azuis. Sean alimenta a sua obsessão por Raven, raptando-a no dia do seu casamento. Raven é maltratada, mantida captiva e quase violada, até à interferência de Kell Lasseter, o irmão mais velho de Sean.
Atraído pela jovem Raven, e com o intuito de salvar o seu débil irmão da prisão, Kell pede a mão de Raven em casamento, minimizando o escândalo.

Confesso que "O Êxtase", a par de "A Sedução", é o meu favorito da série, pois embora a receita deste tipo de romance seja sempre a mesma, e o final feliz algo inevitável, devido à criatividade da autora, o que é vulgar torna-se especial e único.
Começando pela estória: a autora aposta num enredo simples, apesar de bem construído e detentor de uma trama bem elaborada, proporcionando bons momentos de acção, mas também de emoção e sensualidade.
Quanto às personagens: com passados atormentados e personalidades bem vincadas, Raven e Kell são tudo menos lugares-comuns. A autora apostou em não embelezar exageradamente a estória do casal protagonista, dando-nos a conhecer os seus lados mais frios e distantes, transportando para a estória uma boa dose de realidade, com a qual todos os leitores se identificarão. E o vilão, apesar da sua má índole, não conseguimos ficar indiferentes à sua dor, e ao seu trágico final.
Optando por uma linguagem adequada à época, mas bem perceptível, com cenas explícitas bastante requintadas, e romance q.b., Nicole Jordan traz-nos mais um romance a não perder!

Nunca tinha lido um livro de Nicole Jordan antes (bem, tinha tentado ler um livro dela, mas não devia estar com paciência para este género na altura, porque não passei de algumas páginas) e tenho de dizer que fiquei agradavelmente surpreendida.
Certamente que o enredo é previsivelmente cliché, embora se debruce sobre um dos clichés que mais me agradam neste tipo de livros: o casamento arranjado; mas as personagens e mesmo a construção da história são interessantes e há algo neste livro que falta em tantos outros do género: química entre as personagens.
Em "O Êxtase" conhecemos Raven, uma jovem criada nas Caraíbas pela mãe e por um pai adotivo que a detesta. No leito de morte, a mãe faz Raven prometer que se irá casar com um nobre e obter um título, em vez de casar inocentemente por amor. Por isso, ao regressar a Inglaterra, Raven esforça-se por conseguir um marido rico e importante, e fica noiva de um duque.
Mas Sean Lasseter, um pretendente ignorado decide raptar Raven no dia do seu casamento e tem em mente um destino terrível para a jovem. Apenas a intervenção do irmão de Sean, Lasseter, impede que algo de horrível aconteça. Tendo em conta que a reputação e a possibilidade de aliança de Raven com o duque estão desfeitas, Kell decide reparar os danos causados pelo irmão e casar-se com Raven, salientando logo de início que se trata meramente de um casamento de conveniência.
Como Raven não quer amar qualquer homem e como todas as suas esperanças foram desfeitas, a jovem aceita.
Gostei. Um livro que se lê com facilidade, "O Êxtase" centra-se em duas personagens que mal se conhecem e que não querem, de todo, um casamento apaixonado. A autora descreve bem o tipo de preconceitos que existiam entre a alta sociedade relativamente a mulheres "caídas em desgraça" e também a homens que trabalhavam para obter a sua riqueza (é o caso de Kell).
Apesar de nem um nem outro quererem uma relação intima, Kell e Raven acabam por explorar a sua atração sexual mútua que levará a mais convivência e a um conhecimento mais profundo um do outro.
Apesar deste livro não ser exatamente original, achei que a progressão da relação entre os protagonistas foi bastante interessante e não pareceu muito forçada. Foi por isso que dei por mim a devorar este livro.
Em geral, surpreendentemente interessante tendo em conta que da última vez que li um livro da Nicole Jordan desisti ao fim de meia dúzia de páginas. Recomendado para os amantes de romances históricos e sensuais.

This is Raven Kendrick's story. Yeah I know we thought she was all settled with the Duke of Halford. However, it wouldn't be a romance series if one of the characters married someone they couldn't come to love. I did feel sorry for Halford, especially, when he revealed that he really did care a great deal for Raven. I kind of wish that Ms. Jordan had written a HEA for him at some point. The man does seem to be a kind and gentle stuffed shirt and he was jilted twice in this series. This story also shows the unfairness that women were treated with during this era. I mean it isn't Raven's fault that some madman abducted and drugged her. Why does her reputation have to be ruin? Why does she and so many others have to suffer for ruination for something they had no control over.
Kell Lasseter is everything a alpha male should be. His caring and compassionate nature make him a unusual man in this time period, especially, with all that he has gone through in his life. He has risen above all the hardship and is a rich successful man. He one fault is that he so disparately wants to save his brother, Sean. Sean can't be saved though. There isn't anything that can help him in this time period, there is very little that can help him in this time period. Kell is consumed by guilt for the things that Sean has suffered and it is festering wound that will come to a violent and terrible end.
The main characters fight falling in love with everything that they are. I understand the series each one has but they can't seemed to see that love can overcome more than they think. It takes a terrible tragedy to make them see how fragile life is and that they should follow their hearts.
This is a quick read but there isn't much humor in it. Most of the love scenes are between Raven and her dream lover which are not as satisfying as the ones between Raven and Kell. Overall this is a very good story and a nice addition to the series.

2.75 - Ci sono romanzi che si conservano e resistono bene al passare del tempo, ma a volte non accade, come è per questo quarto romanzo della serie "NOTORIOUS".
In genere, le trame che si basano su matrimoni forzati (qui c'è il classico matrimonio salva-onore) che poi si tramutano in grandi amori hanno sempre un qualcosa di stuzzicante, ma qui c'è veramente troppo di tutto (Raven che viene rapita di qua e di là; l'insistenza sulla reputazione rovinata di lei, mentre Krell e il fratello malvagio paiono sempre due anime scanzonate che combinano una goliardata; nonché la comprensione affettuosa con cui vengono dipinti questi personaggi maschili possessivi e arroganti, che gridano "tossico" da ogni poro...).
Sostanzialmente, il romanzo è così lungo perché i due sposi non comunicano tra loro e passano interi capitoli a fare dietrologia sugli atteggiamenti dell'altro.
E quando arrivi al finale, dopo che c'è stato più erotismo che innamoramento, non è che ci siano proprio i fuochi d'artificio.
Ma la zappata finale è nella terminologia: ignoro cos'avesse scritto la Jordan in origine, tuttavia evidenzio che in una scena d'amore, per una donna, sapere che verrà presto presa dalla sua "verga viscida" potrebbe abbassare di molto il livello di sensualità generale.

Raven Kendrick is the sister of Nicholas Sabine, the main character in The Passion. She is to marry the elderly Duke of Halford. Her mother always wanted her to be raised as a lady and to marry well. Unfortunately, Sean Lasseter kidnaps her and takes her to his brother's gaming hell. Sean has given Raven an aphrodisiac. Kell Lasseter sits with her and pleasures her throughout the night. Then he takes her home and offers to marry her. She has no choice but to do so because her reputation has been ruined. Sean was abused sexually by their uncle, and Kell killed the man so he has no reputation worth having, but he is rich. Kell wishes to purchase a title for her from Prinny so she can keep her promise to her mother. Forces pull them apart, and they must fight to find one another again.

This book isn't bad. Although I realize that sex is an important part of romance novels, and I definitely don't want it taken out (by any means), I think that Jordan concentrates on the sex part a bit too much, to the detriment of the emotional relationship between her characters. Although this book is not as bad about this as "Passion," there's still not enough bonding between the characters in anything but a sexual manner. Anyway, the characters in this book are interesting and compelling, and the plot is interesting - definitely worth reading, but it would have been better if there had been a bit more emotional connection between the characters.
