By the author of The Tao of Watercolor and The Zen of Creative Painting , this third book in her “Path of Painting” series offers artists of all levels a fresh approach to the art of drawing based on compelling Yoga principles:
A unique foundational approach to drawing with a twist, utilizing the concept of meditative form. Actually I thought it was more in line with the 'safe harbor' method of meditation than Yoga. Being a balanced individual is essential in all aspects of life. Getting there is a matter of daily practice. How that is acheived depends on the individual. That said, this was somewhat of an interesting read especially if you have some background in martial arts training or meditation excersizes. If not, you might not get into this one.
Not the book necessarily helpful for the absolute novice to drawing or painiting - don't expect colour mixing tips or how to hold a pencil but do expect to be inspired to take up a pencil or paint. It is a book that asks you to look beyond formulas and preconceptions to make the picture your picture. So while you may indeed draw something that you see in the world the end result goes beyond realism of the object to something that comes from deep inside you, your own picture. I enjoyed the book, it was very inspiring; the images by the author and students were very beautiful.
