I was born in New Britain, Connecticut, and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. I also spent a year (5th grade) in Montgomery, Alabama, and a year in Ann Arbor, Michigan(8th grade). As a child, I always wanted to be a writer, but I had lots of other ambitions too. I wanted to be a teacher, a librarian, a movie star, the president of the United States, and a ballerina.

I didn't achieve all my goals. I never became a movie star, the president of the U.S., or a ballerina. But I've been a teacher and a librarian and most of all, a writer. I've been writing for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I always kept a diary. I wrote poems, stories, plays, songs and lots of letters. Writing wasn't easy for me, but it felt natural and right.

I've always read a lot, too. I was an English major at Emory University (I love Shakespeare), and I also received a master's degree in library science at Emory. I earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Chicago, and I taught children's and teen literature at St. John's University in New York for over 20 years. Now, I'm a full-time writer, living in Paris, France - the most beautiful city in the world.

I loved the change of setting and the catacombs! Is it weird that I now want to go? I cannot believe Monica allowed Amy to run all over Paris with people she din't really know and never did verify with AMy's mother that it was okay!! Bad guardian! And falling for that "artist" Tsk tsk. Although Amy chasing after Andy (yet again still has a boyfriend back home) is just as much on my shame list. Still, it was a fun book. I think this one forced Amy to really learn how to trust people. I hope....

When is she going to finally DUMP Eric!? I need to have her and Andy dating, sooner rather than later. Also, I didn't see that thing with Annie coming until the last second. I hope she mellows out (if we see her later in the sequels).

In Search of Andy
Amy loses a relay race because she has to slow her pace to “normal” when she sees the teacher looking at her in surprise. She complains to Tasha about how hard it is to have to hold back. Tasha isn’t sympathetic and instead starts talking about how Amy’s perfection makes her feel not good about herself. So, she calls for a “temporary separation” starting now. Since Eric is in detention and her mother is still at work, she goes to visit Monica. But Monica is upset about her boyfriend who broke up with her because he didn’t want to commit. She asks what’s wrong with men. Amy just doesn’t have the answer. She thinks Monica just picks losers.

Amy finds out her mom is going to Paris but doesn’t plan to take her. One by one she finds solutions to all her mother’s objections. She says she can’t miss a week of school. She gets her French teacher to write a letter about how experiencing France is more beneficial than learning about it in a classroom. She says its too expensive. Amy finds a travel special two for one. She says she won’t have time to watch Amy while she’s at the conference. Amy gets Monica to come since she says she needs a vacation from men. What better chance to be in a different environment and experience new things.

Monica is only interested in seeing museums and wants to give Amy art history lessons. Amy is more interested in seeing places like the Catacombs and the Eiffel Tower. The trip gets off to a rocky start. The cab driver doesn’t understand when Amy tries to give him the address of the hotel in French (even tho she knows she said it right). Then when they get to the hotel there’s no room for Amy and Monica. But the hotel quickly finds them another room on the other side of the river. Nancy tells a lady at the hotel to keep her eye on Amy, but Amy discovers the lady doesn’t understand English (thankfully).

Amy and Monica are at a café having coffee trying to get over the jet lag, when a handsome artist named Christophe comes over and starts to flirt with Monica (who falls for his charms-even tho clearly Amy sees he’s phony-). She starts to look up the ballet company where she saw the other Amy. Luckily, they have a performance. She feels someone watching her and turns around and sees Andy. All of a sudden, he takes off funning. She loses him at the Metro. Then she wonders if it was even him or another clone. But thinks it had to be.

Monica is still talking to Christophe and he invites them out that night. Amy sees her opportunity and tells him she wants to go to the ballet. Christophe “leaves his wallet at home” and Monica has to pay for all of them. Amy notices Annie immediately. During an intermission, Amy finds Annie and the other dancers dressing room. Annie notices her and tells her she hoped this would happen ever since she found out what she was. She hugs and kisses Amy warmly. She tells her she’ll come to her hotel at 10 the next morning.

Annie and Amy make up a story about how their cousins and quickly ditch Monica and Christophe -who want to look at newer artists-. Annie tells her she always knew she was an adopted but wanted to find out about her birth parents. Her father hired a detective and they found out about Project Crescent. They discovered the truth when Annie broke her leg and when they took her to the doctor it was healed. After this Annie takes Amy on a tour of the islands and then to see the Catacombs. She sees someone that might be Andy but she doesn’t say too much because Annie doesn’t know about the “Andy’s”.

Christophe says he has plans to go to a party in the Catacombs the nexr day. Monica and Annie are interested. Amy and Andy aren’t. Annie convinces Amy to go, but Amy can’t convince Andy to go. Amy realizes he’s not going because of Annie. He says he’ll meet up with her later (alone). Amy gets bored after not very long of hanging out with Christophe’s grungy friends and wanders off into one of the tunnels. She hears a bunch of racist people talking about how blacks, Asians, and disabled, people need to be eradicated.

The tour guide tells them to stay close then tells them about a man who lost his way and ended up starving to death and his remains were found. After this they have lunch and meet back up with Moica and Christophe. Weirdly Christophe says he knows how to get into an area of the Forbidden Catacombs that the guide says were closed off. And that he does this to have social gatherings with artist. Amy has a performance and has to leave, but she promises she and Amy can get together after she gets out of school the next day. It’s the same school that was written on Andy’s notebook.

During the morning and part of the afternoon, Amy goes to the Louvre with Monica. Then she waits for Annie after school. She sees Andy and goes after him. At first, Andy acts like he doesn’t know who she is. He says he’s an exchange student and has come there to study French literature for a year. But then when Amy starts getting into what happened at survival camp, he gives himself away by correcting certain details from camp. He tells Amy he was trying to forget who he was (and had almost succeed) until he saw her.

Amy introduces him to Annie and they don’t hit it off. It doesn’t help when Andy corrects Annie over a secret entrance in the Catacombs that Annie says is myth. Andy asks them out later. Annie says she’s busy. Amy says she’s available. That night, Monica says she and Christophe have tickets for a rap concert and they want Amy to go. Christophe tho says he couldn’t get tickets and suggest they go see a French film instead. Andy says he has plans to take Amy on a boat ride. Then Christophe quickly changes their plans to go on the boat ride to. (Although Monica says she wants to see the film). On the boat, Amy and Andy ditch Christophe and Monica. Amy wonders what’s up with Christophe wanting to come on the boat ride with teenagers and why he has such an interest in her.

She asks Andy what he thinks of Annie and why he seemed so short with her but he says he’d rather just enjoy Paris. Amy momentarily puts all the other stuff to the side and gets wrapped up of the magic of Paris at night and Andy’s hand on hers. The group turn out to be Neo Natzi’s. Soon after Sebastian (the guide for the catacombs) shows up and then the police and escort Christophe’s friends out. Amy is shocked that there are still groups like this, but Annie just shrugs it off and says their free to express their beliefs as long as they don’t harm anyone. Andy has the same attitude. He still doesn’t want to talk about why he doesn’t like Annie.

Amy goes to the school to meet up with Annie but she gets there early and decides to poke around. In a basement where books are stored, she sees Andy come in and go through a doorway. This must be the secret tunnel under the school he’s mentioned before. She also notices on his arm is a black band with a swastika. Annie offers to make her feel better by taking her to a party that night. They spot Christophe at the café and Amy reads his lips from a phone conversation he’s having. He’s telling someone he thinks Monica or either Amy have money and he needs it.

Amy and Annie get back at him by speaking in French in front of Monica saying their on to him and he should make up an excuse to leave before they call the police. So he tells Monica he got called away for an art thing for a week. Since they’ll be leaving in a week, she won’t see him again. Annie invites Monica to the party too. Unknowingly, Annie takes them to the catacombs. When they get there a man and woman are waiting. Amy fights them off and grabs Monica and they escape. Only to run into Sebastian in who gets police to escort them out and place them in a van for trespassing. Annie is nowhere in sight.

Amy goes back to the secret tunnel through the school to look for Annie. Again, Sebastian is there running through the tunnels. She overhears Andy telling a group of people he’ll bring her to them. She then finds Annie only to find out she’s one of them. Then someone puts a clothe over her mouth and she passes out. Amy comes to in a gallery with bars. Then she sees Annie. Annie tells her this organization want to create perfection in healthy white people. They’ll create an army and with this army they’ll take over the world. Because how much better would the world be if there weren’t people who had imperfections. Annie then leaves her there to rest and consider. Amy is able to take out one of the guards and escape the others -finding her way out of the tunnel-.

When she gets back to the hotel there’s a message. Monica has been kidnapped and taken to the Effiel Tower. When she gets to the top of the tower Sebastian and Andy are there. Sebastian tells her he was once apart of the group but saw the error of his ways. He motions her to come to him. Andy says he lies. He’s the leader of the group. He was never apart of the group. He was just spying on them so he could turn them over (he says). HE points to a helicopter and says that if she goes to Sebastián the helicopter will come and he’ll take her to them. Amy takes a step toward Andy. Sebastian pulls out a gun. Amy goes for him and knocks it out his hand. He reaches for it but he falls off the Eiffel Tower.

Andy tells Amy that he was the one that sent the kidnapped message and that he went undercover to protect all of them. They have a lot more enemies than just Project Crescent. He kisses her that night on the Effiel Tower. Sebastian wakes up from the fall in the hospital-where he’s about to be operated on-. He sends the nurse flying with his hand and walks out the room.

My Thoughts:
I really liked that this had a different setting and that -that- setting was Paris. It’s a place that I would like to visit one day and I think this did an amazing job of capturing the sights. If I do I'll just know not to fall prey to some "sketchy" (pun intended) artists mind games. No matter how handseome! Weirdly I was also attracted to the Catacombs. I kept thinking Amy was going to get lost in the tunnels-which is why there were all the warnings- despite her super-human abilities.

Then the things that *did* happen in the tunnels, I can't say Monica and Amy didn't have some part in. You met this man only days ago in a foreign city and you agree to go to a party with him underground? Does that sound smart to anyone else? He could have robbed you? He could have forced himself on you? He could have had friends there waiting to drug you and have sex. Then leave you there to die. And Amy? This is book 12. She should REALLY know better considering all the men that have been after her. It's even my opinion that she trusted Annie to quickly. As we see NONE of them are like her.

. Why is it that all of these Amy’s are “damaged” in some way. One was a itch. The other was practically suicidal and this one is racist. Then there were the ones in the mental-institution (that I really don’t think was a dream). What did they *really* do to them in Project Crescent before they were all sent away? Because whatever it was messed the majority of them up in the head BADLY! The verdict right now is out on Andy. He might have had a good explanation for spying but in books (and real life) the ones you don’t suspect are usually the ones that deceive you by the end of the series.

I enjoyed this one and I’m hoping that there will be others in the series that take place in different locations.

From front to back, this book was amazing!

When Amy's mom has to attend a conference in Paris, France, she just has to find a way to come along to find her other clone that evaded her in the past. And when she does, she feels like she's found a long lost sister. But her world is shaken when she sees Andy. What is he doing there, and why does it feel like there's much more to this than she thinks?

This novel felt like a young adult scifi thriller movie, and I mean that in the best way. Mystery, action, suspense, it had it all and then some. Each chapter was super easy to read and the pace moved perfectly, making it hard for me to put this down. I also love French culture since taking language classes in high school, so the change of scenery was welcome.

Amy got a lot more than she bargained for in this trip abroad, and I can't help feeling really bad for her. Each time she means to do well, things go south. Hopefully soon she will find some long-term allies that can help her fight the evils in this world.

While I can't spoil things for all you readers, I will say that Amy's world is definitely expanding a bit more from what happened, and I can't wait to see what adventures lie ahead of her. This is such an addictive series!

Whenever Andy is around the series shines. Who doesn’t want to go to Paris? It was so fun having Amy in a new location, finally meeting [spoiler redacted], and being able to experience the best and niche parts of Paris baked into a fast paced, mystery. The plot twists still hold up after all these years and I love how it leaves the storyline open for what’s to come in the series while giving a satisfying conclusion to the book. It felt like a standalone episode of a series and it’s one I will continue to revisit.

I loved this book and the entire Replica series when I was a kid. Since moving to Paris, I decided to reread this one since it had fascinated me so. It's not a good book. The dialogue is some of the most wooden I've ever seen (my favorite exchange was Amy's conversation with Monica about the Mona Lisa). As for the setting, the only landmark which is actually described in any detail are the catacombs. The rest of Paris is a generic, whitewashed version of the city.
The plot makes very little sense. Why is Paris overrun by Nazis? It seems like every person Amy meets in France is a Nazi or pretends to be a Nazi for vaguely specified, but extremely important reasons. Amy points out several times that the catacombs are so big and winding that you can get lost and die inside them, yet every single time Amy is anywhere within the system, she sees Sébastien.
Apparently, I saw none of these flaws as a ten year old when I first read the book. So in that way, it succeeds in every way that it sets out to succeed. I also have a distinct recollection of trying to force my father to take me to the catacombs during my first visit to Paris a few years after reading this (he didn't believe that they existed), and because of that, I give the novel 3 stars. I learned something real and interesting from this as a child and it stuck with me into adulthood. Insipid and formulaic as it is, I give credit where credit is due.

This was probably one of the more insipid Replica books. Amy's mom is going to be in Paris for some conferencing, evidently, but I swear they were in Paris for close to two weeks. I don't know what kind of conferencing requires Nancy to be in Paris for so long. Amy is staying in a different hotel than her mom with their neighbor Monica. Monica's recently broken up with her latest loser boyfriend, and now in Paris she falls for Christophe, a gigolo (actual word used several times in the book to describe him) who uses Monica for money. Monica is complete shit at babysitting, because Amy spends days traipsing about Paris on her own or with Annie, her sister-clone, or Andy, her clone-mate.

The plot of this one involves Nazis and the Parisian catacombs. It was so dumb. The dialogue was so painfully unnatural and everyone Amy met was a Nazi, meeting in the catacombs through various entrances to discuss their plans to murder everyone who isn't an able-bodied white person. Like most of these books, the plot is full of holes and there is no resolution in the end. It drove me crazy that Annie's parents could simply hire a PI and learn about Project Crescent when all this time it's been supposedly top-secret.

For this one I give 1 star because it was really, really bad.

This book was a interesting book because it involves a cloned girl goes to paris for a week. She also encounters her old friend Andy that has been missing for a long time. The last time she had seen him was in jail. She also meets Andys friend he had meet in paris that had looked the same as amy the character of the book. Amy had wondered if any was still in jail of being blamed of murdered, if he was a clone or not. Amy went to go find out if andy was cloned.what I have thought of this book was it tells you how she was cloned and had details in everything in paris
