As I finish reading “Divine Teachings of Ram” by Pranay, I feel there’s a lot more the book could have captured. After a certain point the book feels repetitive, as every new aspect/teaching is seemingly linked to soul consciousness.

The book’s narrative is simple and easy to grasp. Here are a few key learnings from the book:

1. You are not this mind-body complex. You are the unchangeable Divine soul that lives within this body. Learn to outgrow body consciousness and embrace soul consciousness.

2. When your identify with the unchangeable, blissful soul within, your attitude will spill over to the material aspect of your being as well, making you appear as someone who’s naturally calm, composed, grateful and content.

3. We are all reflections of the Divine being. Just as the sky is reflected in the lake, rivers, puddle of water, a vessel etc., so is the divine reflected in each being, in unique ways. How well can we reflect the Divine being depends greatly on our own physical & mental makeup.

4. Your work is a means to an end, and not the end in itself. Your actions/duties are the means to help you progress in life and strive for the end goal i.e. detachment from the material aspects of being and embracing the spiritual.

5. Life is all about inner balance. Don’t let the circumstances or surface events disturb the substratum i.e. your changeless, calm, and blissful soul.

Lord Ram is called ‘Maryada Purushottam’ for a reason. Despite being an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Lord Ram didn’t invoke on His divine prowess, and faced both pleasant and adverse circumstances just like an ordinary human being. He did so to leave behind a legacy of how best to lead a rich spiritual life. Last but not least, He practiced what he preached. Should we resolve to emulate His teachings and ways of living, our life will be filled with eternal bliss, no matter how unpleasant the circumstances we may have to face.
