Danica Avet was born and raised in the wilds of South Louisiana where mosquitoes are big enough to carry off small children and there are only two seasons: hot and hotter. With a BA in History, she figured there were enough fry cooks in the world and decided to try her hand at writing.

Writing is how she gives the voices in her head a way out. They speak to her constantly wanting their stories told and she does her best to accommodate them. She writes paranormal romance and may eventually branch out to contemporaries. When she isn’t writing, working, or contemplating the complexities of the universe, she spends time gathering inspiration from her insane family, reads far more than any sane person would want to, and watches hot burly men chase an oblong ball all over a field.

Fantastic Read!

This was such an enjoyable read. I was swept away by the characters immediately. I totally loved Ruby’s dog, he was even funny with his noises and silent farts. The Veil’s world is creatively written full of all the supernatural creatures you could imagine and this was the first read I have ever read where there was a vampire (Lucian) and an Amazon (Ruby) mate. They were a perfect match and their romance erotic scenes were totally Hot.

The story was fantastic with some kick ass action between Ruby (Amazon) and the head council leader (the evil traitorous witch). I was totally rooting Ruby on in spirit. I so wish and want to be a part of the Amazon World – those women are totally kick ass and funny as hell when it comes to Men. Man I wish our world was like that now – just imagine Hot Hunky Built to Please Men waiting around wearing nothing but a loin cloth being lead around with a leash - LOL. (licking my lips)

I loved the fact that Ruby was such a strong character and put the Alpha male Lucian in his place. It kind of aggravated me how Lucian was treating Ruby but at the same time I was thinking if she can get past his arrogant ass she might have a chance to get to him and set him straight from the man cave days. Great Read all the way around!

Excitement, action and a touch of mystery make for a thoroughly captivating story. We are treated to a unique look at our heroine compliments of Avet. Ruby is unlike your average heroine. She is strong and capable of taking care of herself yet she is fearful of people. We watch captivated as Ruby makes the metamorphosis from introverted hermit to a woman in charge of her own destiny. Far from the chick lit it sounds like, Avet gives us enough sizzle between Ruby and Lucian to start spontaneous combustion.
Strong supporting characters round off what promises and does not fail to deliver on hell of a story. A must read if you enjoy kick ass heroines, hot vampires and secondary characters so strong they could probably pull off their own stories. A fantastic start to what promises to be a great series.

Well written, exciting, often humorous and incredibly sexy, this book has so much to offer any reader, not only fans of the genre. Avet has created The Veil, a world that exists within our own, and she so expertly brings the lively and diverse cast of supernatural characters to life that it’s not hard to imagine that they may be living alongside us right now.
At the heart of the story is Ruby, forced by circumstances on an emotional journey towards self-discovery, strength, and love. The author provides her the perfect match in the vampire Lucian, and theirs is a harrowing and page-gripping story of need, lust and betrayal, with a satisfying end. I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed this book but I'm not use to all the paranormal creatures and words that was in the book so it took some time to learn the meanings and get use to them. Ruby was an interesting character to read about. She is a 6 ft plus hermit that has absolutely no contact to the outside world until a little guy jumps out her shed. I really liked her inner strength and the will power she had. I really liked Lucian's character although the entire time I was reading it I thought of him has a human with paranormal powers instead of a vampire. He didn't really act like a vampire in the story and he had flaws just like any other human. Most importantly, when he and Ruby touched he was always described as warm and soft. I'm definitely not complaining! Human or vampire: he was great and I loved his overprotective side. The story had lots of action, tension, great characters, twists and turns. It was great and I can't wait to start on the next book!

A series that starts with an exciting and action-packed book, Danica Avet has crafted a world sure to enthrall readers.

Sexy and unflappable vampire Lucian is the epitome of an upright Veilerian, until he meets his mate, Ruby. Independent and strong, with a depth of character that inspires readers to fight for their destiny, her knack for undoing the tightly-laced Lucien’s control was amusing and endearing. Enjoy the quirky characters of the Veil as you are engrossed in the new perspective of a paranormal story.

Strong and independent, Ruby meets her match when she comes across the super sexy vampire of the Veilerian, Lucian. As she struggles to discover who she truly is, Lucian must choose whether or not to save himself and to follow his heart. Incredibly erotic and romantic, the first book in the Veil series delivers an emotional and irresistible treat for lovers of the paranormal genre. With a great storyline, loveable characters and a brilliantly unique world, the next chapter of the Veil is sure to guarantee one hell of a good time.

This is the first in its series and I have to say I loved it. From beginning to end, you follow one of the quirkiest, unashamed female leads I have ever read about. She's a fireball. All of the humor Danica employs in these stories is just magnificent and makes reading a book containing lots of juicy sex scenes feel a little less embarrassing.

I can't wait to read more of her books!
