Charlie thought his summer was going to end like every other summer before it. With a growing sense of forboding and a waning sense of freedom. Until Tane landed on his front lawn in a crumpled heap claiming to be from heaven. A place much darker and much greater than he’d ever imagined. Tane is on a mission to find a Septar, a citizen of Fismuth that was left behind when she was supposed to have been taken. And when she enlists the help of Charlie and his friends, she pulls them into a world of danger, love, and ultimately, heavenly rewards.
Okay, I admit. This is my book, and I only gave it five stars to get you to read this. :) Forgive me? The rating responsibility is yours, you guys. And I really do hope you read and enjoy this book. The first in a trilogy(I hope you think it's a good trilogy), Wingless is fun, with a message that I believe is important. Please rate and review honestly. Thanks everyone! --The authoress, Cydney
Wingless may be one of the most unique angel type books I have read or even heard about. The lore is completely different from anything I have come across and it made it a real page turner. When I read that it all begins with a naked girl falling from the sky and landing on a teenage boys lawn, I kind of assumed it would be a typical paranormal romance, when really it is the farthest thing from it. It did take me a little bit to get into the story, but I attribute that to reading it the first week my kiddos started school and the mad dash between schools and mom's groups wore me out. I am so excited to see where this story goes from here. I have my guesses, but most of the ones I had in the beginning turned out wrong, so who know.
As the title says it: Wingless. This book is not about angels. But they do come from Heaven. Who landed--practically landed --on Earth. Tane, a not-angel-but-Fismuthian girl has landed from Heaven to Earth to retrieve the Septar. A Fismuthian as well.
I don't quite get the story at first but eventually I've understood it. The next chapter (and a different POV) was fun (and funny) that hooked me up right away. The world building was well-thought, the characters are pretty cool but I was hoping for more action. More unforgettable scenes like the near-end and ending have.
I can really say that this is a good book. It was fun and new and mysterious and well-written. The ending was so amazing that made me want to read the next book. I must say that I'm really impressed with Cydney Lawson's debut book. The only thing I want to demand was..more.
Recommendations: For everyone who loves reading paranormal. Try this if you're feeling like you've had enough of angels. Good for your pre-Halloween!
Thank you so much to the author, Cydney Lawson, for providing me an ebook copy of Wingless.
I really liked this! Thanks to the author for asking me to review it!
I really liked the overall idea of this book! I'm a little confused about the angels though. I don't understand why they made the angels their slaves. I think the angels are nice and they're being so mean to them!
Also, I didn't really like Charlie. I totally agree with Gaius, he thinks too much about her. Think pink elephants Charlie. I like Gaius. If they could have partners in Fismuth, I'd like it if Tane and Gaius were together. Also, their names are really pretty! Tane and Gaius. Gauis and Tane. Seriously, how'd she think up of these names?
And Dethany, I feel bad for her. She's been in like with Charlie since, forever and he never even notices. If he'd just open his eyes, then maybe Dethany and him would be together and when Tane came he wouldn't have taken a second look at her. Okay guys, I'm so sorry, but I'm shipping Gane. Okay.
The ending though, that was what really got me going. I cannot believe it ended like that. Wow.
Overall, this was a super good book! I want to read the second! I read the blurb of it on goodreads and well, it sounded really exciting! 4 Stars!
I really liked it! It was a bit confusing at first but I quickly caught on with the different point of views. There wasn't too much drama or anything as all it talked about is the past of Tane and a little of of Gaius and how the mission is to find the Septar and bring it back to Fismuth.
Even though there was a bit of history at the beginning and slightly throughout the story, I don't get how the children in earth has special powers. And after they are dragged up what happens their family? There could have been a flashback of Tane's past somewhere. I didn't really like Charlie that much? I agree with Gaius, he does think about Tane way to much and he should focus more on his friends instead of a stranger that landed on his lawn. I feel so bad for Dethany! If only Charlie would open his eyes and see it...
2.5 stars I enjoyed the originality and the world that Cydney created however I didn't really connect or invest in the characters or story in general. I will however continue with the series as I am interested to see what happens next.
I loved the book! It had an interesting twist at the end intertwined throughout the book with suspense. It was hard to put it down and I'm excited to get the second one :)
